well im thinking of makeing a new ele right? i was gana go fire but i thought well.. so here i am i need to know what deals more dmg.. ive seen alot of fire les do alot of dmg... but witch is faster dmg? also witch uses energy slowest? and fastest? air fire or water? also if i go mixed would tht b any good? i would have to go cap elemental attunment thou... also where do i get that? i sorta wana go water cuz im probly gana use this char for gvg's and such soooooo whats good for pvping and whats good for pve? also whats a good second proffesion for an ele? i was told go e/me but i dont no what to go
plz help i will b for evea great full

Ive experemented and I can get the most damage out of fire, simply because I can hit more targets. I know fire is the unoriginal choice, but if damage to multiple targets is what you are looking for, thats the best, IMHO

Well usually in order to get into a FoW group or one of the higher level areas you will need to be a E/Me that is an echo nuker, which uses fire. I however like for PvP to use air magic since you can quickly use your skills and deal out plenty of damage all with 25% armor penetration. Just try using them all out and see what you like.

well I am no pro at GW but my built is pretty good at THK
it is mainly earth with a tad of fire

also I started Jade as ele/n but when I beat the desert I went to mesmer as secondary only cause of energy tap... at 80 energy once depleted (as it happens a few time at THK) it takes awhile to recharge

qst of all; welcome! I hope you'll have a good time here on the forums.
The magic sort depends on your preferences and the things you would like to do. Eart and Fire for instance do pratically the most damage, but an airspiker is just as annoying as an echo nuker.
In overall you could say that fire is good for a wide range of foes but damage depends on the sort of opponent. Air magic ignores armour and therefor has a constant damagerate. However, a lot of air damage spells cause exhaution. Exhaustion reduces your maximum amount of energy for a period of time,
Earth is good for damage as well as defense and therefor very usable for PvP areas. Spells like obsidian flesh (dissallow spells cast on yu; summat like spellbreaker) and amrour of earth (amrour + 20 os) give yu nice bonusses. Spells like earthquake and aftershock are high damagedealers/interruptors, which are a nuicanse to monk and other spellcasters. but here again exhaustion is something to consider in a build.
Water is nice for slowing foes down so other spellcaster, yourself or warriors have better chance of hitting the opponent. Water has also nice nukelike spells. for example mailstrom (interrupt and x time of waterdamage) Also the spell rust cast on a warrior or monk make the casttime of signets twice as long. And here again Exhaustion is something to consider.
Fire magic only has exhaustion with meteor and meteorshower and the amounts are less then with earth/air & water. With fire you have the opportunity to use non exhaustionspells as well and thus (imho) a balanced energymaintaining build is easier made.
So in the end its just a lot of experimanting to make a build that suits your needs. It also depends on whether you go PvE or PvP. In PvE fire is very good, but for PvP i'd recommend going air/water.
Elemental attunement can be found on perdition rock from Geckokaru Earthwind (prophesies) who is a drake. His spawnpoint is random. So you might walk around for a while to find him.
In factions you can cap it from Chung, the Attuned, whios in the undercity near the entrance from the marketplace. If you go into the hallway which burns (so not left right away. Walk right first whe entering and follow the road. You'll see at a certain point that the road goes left. There is a yellowish hallway).
I hope i've answered your questions abit this way.
