A few questions 
Hello everyone,

Been doing alot of reading lately about this game and had a few questions before I go and purchase it...thought maybe you guys could help me out.

I'm pretty familiar with MMO's...been playing CoH and EQ2 for awhile and enjoyed both. But DDO seems to be more inline with what I would like.

First of all, what is the current level cap? Have they announced a intended level cap for the game life?(ie like EQ2..lvl 100) How hard is it currently to reach that cap? (I"m asking that for play ablility over a period of time, don't want something I can max out in a couple of weeks in other words)

How is server population right now? Is it generally assumed you can find a group to play with say within 15min or so? How long does a typical duengeon crawl take?

I appreciate any help guys...I've been reading your boards all day today and you guys are the absolute nicest MMO community I've ever seen....it's a nice change of pace.

BTW, any hints or tidbits on perhaps the epic classes like arcane archer, dwarven defender from NWN and such making it into this game?

The current level cap is 10. Well, you can get within 1 experiance point away from 11... but that's it for now. :) They haev said that the cap will be going up in the next few months - probably in early fall. The top cap will most likely be 20th level, as after that you get into Epic Levels in D&D. It is quite possible to power-level your way to 10 in a short period of time. Maybe 2 weeks... But, most don't and it takes a bit longer. But, it's not super hard to get to the cap in a month.

That answer is highly dependant on which server your talking about. I play on two servers, and one is a snap getting groups on - the other is fairly hard to do so. On the first server, I can usually find a group in 5 - 10 min... on the second one, I frequently give up and go to the other server. :) I want to give you an honest answer here. Good thing is, you can create 5 characters on every server, so you can server-hop till you find one that has a population that suits you.

The Devs have been saying since Beta that there will be prestige classes in the game at some point - but they've not said when. I think it'll be in a paid expansion, but I could easily be wrong.

i just got the game about a week and a half maybe ago. and its awesome in my opinion and some servers do not have many people but alot do..

the -main- dungeons usally take a while the farther you get up in lvl

and unless you are going to play for 10 hours straight everyday then it takes some time to get to 10.. this is all about i can think to tell you right now

Thanks for the responses guys...downloaded the 7 day trial last night while I was sleeping...so today will be my first go at it. The game looks promising...alot of potential.

Any suggestions on which server to go with? I want one with a pretty good population. Thanks guys.(and gals out there)

First off welcome to the site! It looks like most of your questions have been answered. I don't have a specific server suggestion, when you first log in it will probably give you a list of three servers they recommend you to play on as a new play. They are probably the least populace so you probably would want to choose something else

I have another suggestion for you also. Be sure to take some really cool screenshots while you are in game in your trial. You may not have to buy the game. We are giving away 6 copies of the game in our Screenshot Contest, so get some in!

I've observed that the Khyber server seems to have the highest number of people on it. I've not been on that server for a few weeks however... The server I have had a lot of luck finding groups on has been Fernia.

I hope you enjoy the game. :) It's some of the most fun I've had online to date.
