What I’d like to do here is toss out an idea and have everyone add their ideas to evolve the idea into a funny gaming shirt. This will be the first of many such threads and what we hope to do is to allow our creative members a place to get their great ideas out in the open and hopefully, made into a t shirt.
I’d like to keep this thread extremely productive. I want to get away from negativity and unconstructive remarks about other member’s ideas and remain on track to fine-tuning everyone’s ideas into solid gamer shirt. This thread will be monitored to keep the posts moving in a productive progression.
The thread will remain open as long as the idea is on the table. Once we finalize on our idea and find the best approach for the shirt then we’ll lock the thread with a finalization post.
It’s Go Time
One of our unfinished ideas we’ve been rolling around the office lately has been “It’s Go Time”. The phrase basically denotes something happening or some sort of conflict occurring.
Some of the ideas that we’ve came up with that we’re not quite happy with:
Picture: A picture of a group of various classes about to fight a dragon
Caption: It’s Go Time
Picture: A picture of a dead group of various classes at a dragon’s feet, and the healer is still alive doing something trivial such as sleeping
Caption: It’s Go Time
Picture: A boat / blimp departing from a harbor, with a character running to towards it as they get there a little too late
Caption: It’s Go Time
There were a few more that simply weren’t worth mentioning but we know there is a shirt in this idea some where, we just need a little help flushing it out.
What can you come up with?

When I think "It's Go Time!" I think of some dark menacing being that is menacing the helpless. I'm thinkin' a leader lookin back over his shoulder to a team that is about to open a can o' ye olde whupass.

hmm let me think maybe theres a group of monsters and all u see is one warrior with his sword and shiled standing there staring at the monsters. Now that will look cool :D

This immediately made me think of the ending of "# Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"...
You know, where they think there's a couple of troopers outside the cabin they holed up in and charge out into the guns of half the Mexican army?
Something along those lines but in a Fantasy / Game session would be cool :-)

Picture: A picture of a group of beautiful female warriors/rangers/mages turning around, fleeing from where they were headed to, because there is a nerd with big big head and big big glasses and zits all over his face (male droopy warrior with glasses)

Why not characters from multiple game formats?
Example: Hot elven chick with sword, rambo-type guy with a machine gun, futuristic armored warrior with a BFG (all charged up, of course), a pirate with a loaded crossbow, a cowboy with smoking pisols, etc...
All standing in a tight group facing outward, all tensed up and ready for action...

We've now touched base on many heroic ideas, such as equipping for a nasty but heroic battle but let's see how we can make it humorous. Perhaps along the lines of the phrase meaning something awful, a real world analogy may be to show an elderly couple sitting on a park bench and the phrase It's Go Time takes on an immensely different attitude.
What are some things that would translate this dark humor into a piece that mmorpg gamers would enjoy?

Hmmm maybe a full team of like 8 heroes standing on one side and a single villain standing on the other looking less than confident.

The other one is rising up off the bench with outrage on his face and his cane in hand and says,

I like the Geriatric idea, makes me think of Waldorf & Steadler :-)
How about this?
Image of a full-plate (with lots of straps holidng it together) wearing Warrior in the classic "I need to pee" pose. Think cloud "Damn, I really need to go!". Caption "It's Go Time!".

How about a dragon or some other big monster who is guarding some damsel in distress type person, and has obviously has just annihilated a party (you know the legs hanging from the mouth type thing with bodies/blood everywhere) with one adventurer left, who may either be cowering or beginning to run, with the caption "It's go time!"

Let's try to steer away from using Ampy in this piece and focus on an mmorpg approach. Ampy is funny but only to GameAmp users. This phrase has the potential to be very cool if used with the proper artwork.
So thinking back to where we left off, we had mention of two Geriatric people sitting on a bench. I like the concept but it needs to have something that translates it into gaming. You don't see as many elderly people in games, so what could we come up with that fits the same punch line and takes the place of the elderly?

really though the elderly being there in nakoma's idea fits perfectly. It's incredibly humurous due to the fact that it is older people using a bit of gamer slang and then well going at it.

Well keep in mind 'It's Go Time' isn't necessarily game slang and using this phrase alone wouldn't make any piece of artwork 'game oriented' so the artwork needs to deplict that fact itself.
If the artwork is not game oriented then the piece is college humor. I actually found this quote on a shirt where it had an elderly man using a walker with the sub title below it saying "It's Go Time". I had figured this quote may have a following in the gamer-community and it was presented here.

Wonderful. Now I'm going to have to say 'It's Go Time' a lot. With caps, and everything. Sigh at thee, I say. Sigh at thee.
Also, how about a picture of mario facing either a giant mushroom, or bowser carrying peach? Everyone knows who mario is, even my grandmother who hasn't heard about anything since 1979, except what she sees on the weather channel and during all those stupid shows on the womens channel, like 'A Baby Story', or 'A Wedding Story'.

hmmm the mario facing bowser carrying peach would be pretty nice...though copyrights would probably prevent it...unless you guys went out and sought permission to use it.

*Nakoma comes down from the mountain after much time spent pondering this problem, and speaks*
Howzabout the same sort of setup, except one person (the one saying "Noob") has a laptop in his lap as he speaks out the side of his mouth, and the other person has his laptop on the ground (where it fell) as he jumps up yelling, "IT'S GO TIME!"
This concept could be used with any two characters, be it elderly (which I still think is hilarious), or a couple of nerdy kids, or whatever. You could even incorporate the Gameamp logo onto the laptops if you wanted...

FRONT:

FRONT:
Pictures of all sorts of things that mean "stop" or "halt" or things along those lines. Ex: stop sign, red traffic light, "Do Not Walk" signal, hand held up in the "stop" pose, a big red 'X', etc.
BACK:
(in big, bold letters)
"It's go time."

Again, somewhat corny but very literal in meaning and to the point with the shirt.

As I heard about the geriatric idea, and trying to relate to gaming, I thought perhaps something like this:
The older couple sitting on the park bench saying the caption, however they would have some ridiculously exaggerated armor helmets and perhaps some huge MMO weapons propped up against the bench, otherwise in their old folks' gear.
Along the other line (team ready to rock it), I thought perhaps a food chain concept would be funny. Say for example, an MMO group looking at some mundane mob (a big orc or an ogre perhaps), while a huge dragon or some other boss drools at them from behind.
Just a thought.
