| Bad Reviews for the game we love?!?!?!?! |

I can not belive the terrible reviews that the game we love got. It has its flaws but its not that bad is it?

Some people just cannot get past the lack of crafting, housing, and loot in CoH. But in my opinion it is one of the best things about the game. Those things create a different kind of community in a game (one I'm not all that fond of).
And those that said there wasn't a good story line must not have been reading thier missions. I LOVE the story line. I love that archs teach you about the villain group that you are fighthing. I love that you get to see where most of the villains came from so they aren't just "the bad guy".
But to each their own, I guess.

Well, they obviously didn't look past the game itself. If I were gonna go solo at this game, I'd probably give it up too. If I want to grind away levels, I'd go play Lineage 2 as I love how they have the whole leveling and items and everything.
However, the lack of an inventory and items I just love about this game. The players too. If I didn't have such a great group of players to hang with and dish out some pain to the baddies, I'd probably go play something else. Or maybe not. :) You guys are great!

i love this game because it is simple. i have played WoW, and i got real sick of paying 15 bucks to mine rocks. id much rather kil stuff and have fun than bake like in galaxies or mine to get money. call me satanic, but killing things is much more interesting

I have the following comments...if they are bashing it so bad and it still holds an 8.3/10 is that really horrible.
Also, as for the crafting, housing, and loot...lets look at the genre here and the theme... I'm not a big comic book person but I do know alot of basics. Can some of you experts in the field add to my poor little list here maybe there is a massive collection of Heroes I dont know that are contrary to the basic thoughts below:
For old world hack-em ups like WoW aka Conan The Barbarian games - you need a sword and you can hack up some baddies take their gold and buy a bigger sword. That is Opportunistic but not very Heroic.
I never cared where Superman, Spiderman, The Hulk, etc lived. (ok the batcave was cool but really did it matter to his cause?)
Most heroes I can think of never crafted a thing while they were out on a mission. (yeah Spiderman and Batman mad some stuff but we have gadgets in CoH for Tech Heroes)
And I cannot remember any heroes that took loot from saving people.. (drawing a total blank here)
So I guess my argument is I don't want to play WoW with the same game in Spandex Tights. I am glad it is different and choose to play something with a modern theme..

They are bashing CoH for the same reasons I love it. I played EQ for 6 years and you eventually ended up doing just a couple of things. You camped a certain Mob trying to get a specific drop or you tried to build some insanly huge raid in order to fight the high end Mobs. In CoH you get a team and go. The missions are your own and there is no fighting for spots. And the fact that there are no loot camps is great.

I just read 20 of the reviews on the first 2 pages (I will read the rest when I get the time) yes there are those who bash it, but there are also those who like it, the negative theme for most of them is the repetitive missions, oh well... like getting this item to combine with this item and placing it here to get this item is not repetitive, pfft! that's done all the time in WoW and similar, they have a term for it as well "Sandwich Style Games."
Grass isn't greener its just different, i'm glad the games are different, I don't want to play cookie cutter games, remember the old commercial" Same place?... Same place... Same thing?... same thing... ho hum..." CoH/CoV is not Same ol' Same ol' :D
For all the complaints I only saw a few who actually said they got rid of the game or stopped playing.
I can guarantee what really angers most of them is the fact they can't cheat to get ahead, in WoW and similar ilk you can, you can also buy rare items with real money that give those who have lots of money an advantage over those with less, it might be frowned upon but this statement sums it up "yeah its wrong, but everyone does it so it must not be THAT wrong... now where's my wallet...?"
Let them complain and gripe and moan, what makes CoH stand out is what makes it so much fun, and perhaps its better if those who don't like it don't play, makes the game that much better for those who do.
I love CoH/CoV and won't let anothers opinion hinder my gameplay or make me question it, this community is excelent, the people and Heroes and yes Villains are nicer then supposed heroes in other MMORPGS, and I plan to play it for a long long time.

It's funny how an article like that just doesn't fly here. The fact of the matter is there isn't anything wrong with any of the current MMORPGs. I currently play both COH and WOW. I like each for their respective features.
WOW is obviously more complex, but at times becomes a tedium. I do enjoy crafting and such, but I don't always want to have to think that hard.
COH is just plain and simple ass kickin fun. Lots of really cool graphics based on a killer theme.....Super Heroes. The Devs have been working on diversity for a while, and have delivered. We have Task Forces, New Zones, New AT's(COV), Mayhem missions, etc.........
Playing a couple of characters on WOW, I see the same missions over and over again, and the high level "Raids" require Hami Raid coordination and numbers. For anyone to say the tasks and missions aren't repedative in WOW, they also didn't play that long. It has the appearance at times you are doing something different, but it's easy to read the common coding for the missions. Guilds run the same Raids over, and over, and over......blah blah blah..... It's like running a Hami raid Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Every week.
I do think that WOW might have us on a little more high level content, but not by much. We still have Firebase Zulu that most don't utilize.
There will always be people that don't "get it". It's not totally about the perfect game play, it's about the game. We get to be super heroes. Not canned copies of Wolverine and Storm, but full blown, got my own concept, Super Heroes and Super Villains. Let them offer whatever ratings and bad reviews they want. They really only effect people who never played the game. Word of mouth is probably outweighing advertizing at this point anyhow. To my knowledge, MMORPG players don't judge a game by reviews and advertizing, they get free trials and see for themselves. They ask other players in their circle what's hot, and what's not. They play what their friends are already playing, so they know someone when they join the game.
Bad reviews....BAH! They mean nothing. Not after a game has survived this long.

Its probably cause everyone is sooo used to the ever so common "Sword and Sorcery" type online games that there is WAY too much of, CoH in all respec is the first game of its kind, even though certain little aspecs within may not be 100% original the game in whole is very original.
P.S. Dont get me wrong, there are a some Sword/Sorcery games worthy of being called "good".

This is just one less person I have to listen pissing and moaning about how they do not like the game while they stand under Atlas.
Don't like, don't play it. Leave it for those who can appricate it for what it is.....

Darkman financed his research with money confiscated from drug dealers and mobsters.
The Punisher often takes weapons from a fallen foe and uses them.
That covers all the ones I know. It's not exactly common.
