4 hours ago I was online trading in Kaineng center
while watching the Football on my other PC
I wanted to whisper a guy
and noticed I was disconnected from the friendsserver..
well I had that a couple of times before, so no problem there
I just had to re-enter my login and pass again
However this time nothing happened when i re-entered my login + pass
Coz this was kind of an important whisper, I decided to log on on my other PC to finnish the conversation..
code=058
strange I cannot log in...
At this time I'm still online on the other PC but still disconnected from the friends server, but online everything else seems normal in Kaineng Center..
I decide to warp to my guildhall, while warping.. my screen freezes... Nothing else happened, had to close the game, tried to log in again:
code=058
looking up info about code050 gave me this:
| QUOTE |
Question
Code=058
Answer
We're sorry that you are experiencing network difficulties. The error you are reporting, Code=058, is indicative of a mis-configured network setting or network interference. Please use the following information in order to assist you in troubleshooting this issue:
1. Make sure GW.EXE or GWSETUP.EXE is added to your firewall's exception list. If you have already allowed Guild Wars in the past, please double check the exceptions. Often times firewalls will decide to block Guild Wars after it has patched. If adding an exception does not help, please try completely uninstalling the firewall software.
2. If you are using a router, please open and/or forward both TCP port 6112 and TCP port 80 within their settings. If you are connecting to Guild Wars while on a campus or business network, please consult your network's administrator to verify that these ports are available. If you are using a NETGEAR® router please review the following article:
Why am I unable to connect to Guild Wars while using my NETGEAR® router?
If you are using a wireless router, try connecting your computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable instead.
3. Try temporarily disabling any Internet Security or Anti-virus/spyware applications. If this resolves the connection issue, then you will need to properly configure these applications in order to enable them while you play Guild Wars. Please contact the author of the software if you do not know how to make these adjustments.
4. If your Internet Service Provider is America Online® and you are unable to use Internet applications outside of the AOL® client (such as Internet Explorer), please contact their Customer Support regarding this issue at http://www.aol.com/support/help.adp.
If the above information did not resolve this issue, please contact our Technical Support team by using the Ask a Question tab. Please provide them with the following information so that they may better assist you with this issue:
* Are you connecting through a router or hub? If so, what is the name and model number?
* Are you on a home, campus, or business network?
* Are you using a firewall application? If so which one?
* Do you use any Internet Security Applications (ISA) such as CYBERsitter, Net-Nanny, ZoneAlarm®, McAfee®, or Norton™?
* Who is your Internet service provider?
* What type of connection do you have (cable, DSL, dial-up)?
* Where are you located?
Please provide as much relevant information as possible; this will help them swiftly resolve your issue. |
Now guildwars worked perfect for +3000 hours and now it suddenly doesn't want to work no more..
MY pc? I don't think so..
My router allows every file of GW to run and connect to the internet, even when i make a direct connection to the internet.. I get code058
my antivirus always worked before, but even when I totally switch it off, it still doesn't work
No other (secondary or windows) firewalls are enabled
I ran a little program from NCSoft to check for errors:
ftp://ftp.guildwars.com/diag/netinfotool_allos_gw.exe
and it seems there is an error in the response from the DNS
althou my PC knows the sitename and the ip to go to..
Is this a problem of my ISP? (Internet Service Provider)????
Reinstalling the game doesn't help either..
Kinda very hard for me to not be able to get online atm..
Only need 15 shards till I get my Ritualist FoW armor..
Now that I got extra time coz it's weekend..
Think I'll phone my ISP tomorrow.. unless someone of you knows the answer to my problems...
grtz

nothing I could do I think..
I think the problem is or at my ISP or at Arenanet
Searching for answers on sites like guru (here) don't give me much hope..
Some can connect again in a matter of hours... some couldn't connect at all no more and even left the game..

Has your ISP done any recent updates to their systems? Most ISPs notify their customers. Perhaps they changed something like added new firewalls on their end. I've got several friends online that they have DSL and their ISP has built in firewalls that makes it so they lag bad when playing a game because of it screening every packet. The only other thing I could see is if you changed some settings on your comp or installed something that changed your setting or the dreaded possibility of a virus. I'd recheck you system and then check with the ISP.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.

Try clearing your DNS cache, it could be corrupted.
- Disconenct your network connection.
- Start -> Run -> 'cmd' -> 'ipconfig /flushdns'.
- Reconnect.

I think there may be something odd on ANet's side anyway.
You're not the only one.

Sounds like a corrupted DNS entry got it's way to your ISP's DNS server.
Those can be a real bitch.
It generally takes between 24 - 72 hours for a DNS update to make its way across all DNSes across the globe. With a faulty one introduced and being corrected it usually takes 1.5 times as long. You can try to set your router up to use another ISP's DNS (XS4ALL for example doesn't mind if you use theirs) but if their DNS picks up the faulty entry before it gets the correction, the same thing will happen there.

Well the only other thing it could be when it comes to anet would be when they moved thier equipment from one building to another things got changed but it would still have to do somewhat with your ISPs setup for it to only effect certain ISPs. Other wise it would effect everyone. lani's idea sems the most likely answer to me though.

Thx for suggestions..
I must say I'm very impressed by the guildwars department of NCSoft..
Posted my problem to them and in 24 hours I got 12 mails of them..
Al asking me questions and doing test..
This is their final answer:
Thanks for contacting the NCsoft Europe support team. There is currently an unresolved connection issue with the Belgian ISP Telenet which prevents you from connecting to our servers. Unfortunately, a solution for this problem is out of our range and has to be made by the provider. Please get in touch with the customer support of Telenet in order to resolve your connection problems.
gonna kill some belgium dudes here =)

I had a problem like this with my DNS a good while ago. I tried everything on my side, but in the end I just got onto my Internet Provider. They said there was a problem with their DNS and they just gave me an alternate one and it worked fine then.
So as you are probably already doing, just get onto your Internet Provider.
Ancients One (R/E lvl 20)--(Defened North Kryta Provence)
Ancients Divine One (Mo/ME lvl 20)--(Eternal Grove)
Ancients Great One (W/N lvl 20)--(Last Day Dawns)
Ancients Swift One (A/W lvl 20)--(Finished Factions)
Ancients Pvp One (Pvp char)
I think you can guess the theme! =p

ok this is starting to get very annoying =/
can't connect to GW anymore ...
Last time was friday 8 pm
Now we are tuesday 10 am
After a whole lot of tests made by NCSoft technical department, they told me the problem was at my ISP..
Now on monday my GF phoned my ISP
when she said she couldn't connect to "a" game, they asked her if it was GuildWars coz they had more complaints about that
so they new what game it was without mentioning Guildwars"
She had to fill in a questionair and give more explenation in a mail.
Then I came home and phoned my ISP as well and got this answer:
"Guildwars, wait I'll ask my collegues...no, no problems here with telenet about the game guildwars, must be a fault on their side.."
Now what I did was write a long mail with all tests and all results to technical service of my ISP to avoid more useless comments from callcenter employees who don't wanna do the effort of helping me ...
now I await their response...
and waiting takes soooo long..
grtz

Aw Tribs that sux to hear =(
I was checking many times per day if you are online for some new picture shooting but no =(
Call-centers have a tendency of being useless and especially long to make them understand what is your problem and put you through to a person who knows their business.

My job is doing all administration of adult educational courses and even sometime teach in them..
One of the courses we give is a 6 month education to become callcenter employee..
ironic ain't it =/

called my ISP again, third time lucky they say...
well... I didn't got no callcenter operator on the line now,
got a person from the technical staff on the line..
Told him my story, and he was very intrested cause he had been working on the problem..
A lot of customers of Telenet cannot connect to Guildwars he said..
Now intresting fact that I mentioned was that guildwars changed servers last wednesday..
Something quit important that was missing from the file he made..
He was gonna adjust it straight away in the file and was gonna work on it asap, coz he thaught it was top priority..
Online gamers represent the best clients of us he said..
---->I think he is right...
anyway, I consider this some good news for all Telenet players who can't come online atm..

I'm starting to hear this from a lot of people who live in Belgium..
But I do know a lot of people can still connect..
Today I made another phonecall to Telenet and they told me their solution..
That solution wasn't a solution at all, coz I still cannot connect..
What I do know is that they received a lot more calls about that error and not being able to connect to guildwars, and that should be pushing them a bit ;-)
Let's hope they resolve the problems fast, so we can still make it for the event kickoff =)
grtz

Event started and code = 058 still prevents me from connecting
This is what I'll do now:
*go to work
*get back from work
*do the dishes :-(
*put my pc's in my car
*drive an hour to my GF's parents
*install pc's there
*hope they don't get code = 058 or I'll freak out
*play the event
*get the mask
So I'm very sorry for all of those guys here who already pm'd me because they have sets for the armor page..
Armor page will have to wait until my problems are solved with my ISP
I'll normally be able to get online, but coz I haven't been able to be online from last friday.. I will need all the time I can be online to straighten things out
I'm sure you all understand that I to wanna enjoy the event =)
thx and grtz!
