Either have great uses.
I love reposte builds with a sword. This requires high tactics and is very good against wars and assasins. Bascially anything that hit's you.
I also use an Axe alot. With tripple chop elite and cyclone axe, you do alot of damage in a very short amount of time. Axe builds usually use high strength. And are my favorite for taking out casters.
I respect both builds, now if I could only find a "decent" build for my hammers :P

I prefer axes for farming and the occasional PvP. But usually I use sword for both PvE and PvP, since I like bleeding, and can do pretty good damage, as well as interrupting.

Axe, why? I havent got a clue.. I think because sword does too much conditions. some PVE dont have flesh, and in PVP conditions are good for a boon/prot (not too much).
This is just what I think of it, if I would go for looks it would have been sword.

I also really enjoy riposte build with swords, but I perfer axes overall.
For the early parts of the game I use a sword, because the Sever Artery/Gash combo works really well in areas like Ascalon and the North Shivers because of the lower monster hp and a lack of a healer.
I do like axes for the higher damage, and better skills imo.
So for the most part I use an Axe.

PvP wise weapon is truly up to you and your team. No one weapon is the best for warriors in PvP, that is simply dependant on the buil you're using. Depending on the situation I find myself switching between both, mainly in PvE. For fleshies I prefere to use the sword, mainly for the bleeding and deep wound. Also, despite the criticism of Hundred Blades in comparison to Cyclone Axe, there is a difference, which is the amounts of hits. Sure Hundred Blades hit with a V range, however in all honesty, how hard is it to keep the majority of your attackers in front of you? It's hardly strategic to get surrounded so you can't escape. Controlling where the enemies are is not a hard thing to do.
However for the Mursaat and Skel's I've used the axe mainly because for straight forward damage it's pretty good, plus with an axe I'm focused in my attributes towards Warrior.
Draw backs of swords is that you're likely to rely on your secondary class for damage dealing, which, imo makes swords the best warrior weapon to use in conjunction with a secondary class, expanding builds that much more. With an axe you have an issue with the range of damage, and if you did take an average with a minimum req axe attribute to wield an axe, you're really only looking at an average damage of 20-22 vs. the 28 most would expect, at least from what I've experienced in the past. For axes to be of any real use you're relying on pure warrior skills, leaving very little use for a secondary class aside from Monk for healing. Also, for tanking you're having very few attack skills, and the 6-28 range is just that much more hindering as you're relying on the simple attacks youre dealing. A swords constant damage and defensive skills are just better for tanking (Riposte, deadly riposte, etc) where axes have none.
In summary, if you're looking for a simple directed build (IE: Pure warrior), use an axe, if you're into a more complex and possibly more damaging build invest in a sword.

Well swords and axes are great I see swords doing more dmg on a single foe while an axe does areas. And still I use BOTH axe for farming and sword for fighting but I have no good sword...But ppl prefer swords cause It seems like in all those movies and stuff the guys have a sword to look more heroic and the axe is for the bad evil dude so ppl like swords more. But there both very good.

personally i prefer swords for the bleed and deep wounds cos of my build... do give comments/suggestions/critiques
here's my skills for Warrior/Ranger
1)Hundred Swords(E)
2)Sever Artery
3)Gash
4)Final Thrust
5)Endure Pain
6)Savage Slash
7)'To the Limit!'
8)Apply Poison
threw in 'To the Limit!' to charge up gash fast. the poison, bleed and deep wounds burns down single enemies really fast..then final thrust has the +64dmg when enemy's below 50% hp. hundred swords is mainly for the AoE to spread poison on big groups, savage slash keeps casters off my tail and endure pain is a -really- low mana heal..

AXE FTW!
From what I know, Axe is used MUCH more in PvP despite the fact that is everyone is fleshy. I have always used axe over swords. Although I believe that swords look better, the axe can do much more damage. With high axe mastery, you can just about ignore the 6-10 range of damage.

i like swords.... unless..... is their a skill with axes that makes enemies bleed? because one of the main reasons i prefer sword is sever artery and gash...good for when the other side has too much armour for normal attacking to do any serious damage

Sword.. but not stance build..i think its rather (gay)
No offence meant. i used to do stance. owned warriors and sin no problem, the only unside is that they would aviod you eventually.
Dont hit the riposite, it cant do anything to you ><
For Sword i use a Top-Secert build (OMG) that i mastered.. it been proven to last against 3 warriors at once, and still win.
here's the build anyway(feel free to change it, i rather you not copy my build)
1)Savage slash or Bull's strike
2)sever artery
3)galrath Slash
4)Sun and Moon Slash
5)Vigourous Spirit
6)Mending
7)Defy pain
8)Res sig for PvP, IWAY for AvA
i use the vamp sword + a shield that +45 hp and reduce 2 dmg when enchanted, BTW its 3 IWAY axe users with axe twist.
also, 3 warriors ensure you.... 2 andreal per second...
STATS really matters in my build... get
8 healing
16 sword
rest strength(strength shield)
*fine sorry, i didnt placed the proper build.. heres the good one now..*

Quick question on that super secret build... How do you manage the amount of adrenaline needed to effectively use it? You don't have any adren boosting skills, and you defintely need a lot of adrenaline to be effective with it. Also, were these creature warriors (IE: White Mantle) or Players? Since I find it hard to believe you could manage healing enough against 3 warriors with the skills listed :/

Lacerating Chop.
If I farmed, I'd use axes.
I variate between swords, axes, and hammers for PvP, though I like swords more than axes for some unknown reason.

Each weapon has good and bad points.
Hammer: a lot of KD, high damage, slow, 2 handed
Axe: High max damage, low minimum damage
Sword: Low max damage, high minimum damage
Example skills:
Hammer: Backbreaker, Earthshaker, Devastating Hammer
Axe: Eviscerate, Triple Chop, Whirling Axe
Sword: Hundred Blades, Quivering Blade, Final Thrust
Swords use a lot of conditions, axes use a lot of + high damage, hammers use a lot of KD/weakness
Which is best? Up to you.

I prefer Swords in PvE most because of the Sever Artery/Gash combo. Also I keep a good none condition attack for undeads and the like. BTW the shout "Victory is Mine!" is fun to use with sword. Also it is a good victory shout when you finish a quest/mission.

I guess its really what I feel like doing. I use sword to farm and axe for PVE and for PVP. I like the closer min and max range on the sword but the higher damage on the axe is nice. Eviscarate is probably the coolest move in the world but riposte is nice too.

hammers are slow, but wasn't it proven hammer have a higher DPS then sword/axe?
sword is has a better damage out put as it's range isn't as wide, tho i perfer axe. Swords just too much adrenline. Also axe better for critical hits.

meh
I use axe for farming and pvp, sword for missions and FoW. I think I'm gonna switch to full axe though, since I sold my Sskai's.

Maybe it's just me but I rely on swords for power and axes for conditions. Yea, a little wierd but this is the build I usually use out in PvE so you'll see why.
Standing Slash, 6adr hit for +20 plus 20 more dmg while in stance
Silverwing Slash, 8 adr hit for +40
Galrath Slash, same as above
Final Thrust, 10adr +40, dmg is doubled if foe is below 50%, lose all adr
Battle Rage, 4 adr for 18 secs adr skills charge twice as fast, lose all adr when this stance ends
Signet of Strength
Endure Pain
Healing Signet
Start out with Signet of strength and battle rage charges quick, which makes all the sword attacks that usually take 8 adrenaline to use, take 4 to use instead.
