I have been keeping an eye on the new Physx cards and although support is a little short at the moment they do look like they could be a good thing to have at some time.
However, has anyone decided to go bleeding edge and buy one of these? How does it perform in COV and was it worht the cost?

I did recently build my "bleeding edge" machine but I opted NOT to get a PhysX card because of the poor reviews. The PhysX card itself is actually too good for the rest of the computer which actually chokes on the extra data being provided.
Two things need to happen before I get one. First, they need a faster connection then the old PCI slot. Perhaps a second PCI-express X16 slot would be ideal. Secondly, more OS support. I believe that MS Vista will actually be better suited for PhysX with DirectX version 10.
I really want to get PhysX. If you looked at the E3 convention coverage you'll see that physics is the future of gaming. Ageia is ahead of there time and I thank them for their vision. I for one will definitely be upgrading in the near future.

In COX it allows more particles and physics effects of screen at once with out a massive hit in performance that you would otherwise get. If you do a mayhem mission for example you will see more stuff flying about from all the explosions and bouncing off other objects.
But, and it's a lopez size butt! is it worth £200 to see this? (The extra effects not lopez butt).
