Sunshine is correct, there are time cards you can purchase pretty much anywhere the game is sold.
I just wanted to welcome Autocitizen to the site.

You may want to call around to some of the shops there in town to see if they carry it. It is a City of Heroes Time Card. They will know what you are talking about. And it will save you from having to do some driving in case one doesn't have them.
And we always try to be welcoming to new members, but some of us are a bit odd *grin*. Ok, I lied, all of us are a bit odd!

And now the bigger question, for a noob like me, which would be the better of the two CoH or CoV?
I see this is a CoH dedicated site so please dont be Bias in any way.

most of us have noticed that CoV is filed with a more immature audience, feeling ike its okay to be rude simply because "its evil". i have had, in over a year of playing, maybe three bad experiences.
CoV i play very seldom, because i had as many events in slightly under a week...

I'm not bias *grin* I just haven't played to much CoV. I like being a hero. I guess it would personal taste. From a learning persepective I would say they are the same. It is just a matter of wether you want to be a hero or a villain.
But we do have a CoV site if that is the route you decide to go.

Well to tell you the truth i sort of knew my answer before i even asked you guys. *sigh* when i was younger i use to play with sticks and call myself a hero i guess it's always been in my blood, and i've even come up wiht a sort of way to become Batman, with a little education, money and fighting i think i could work.
No i think i'll still have you guys to my favorites instead of the CoV.
*hope my batman didn't put me out of place here*

Um.... I know I'm going to get lynched here for saying this, but I'm not a HUGE superhero fan. I'm not a comic book fan. And I know actually very little about the heros you guys discuss some times.
I got hooked on CoH because of the game. And the thought of myself in spandex isn't a purtty thought *grin*

Personly i'm a fan of "if it fits wear it" so i'd go for it. Besides haven't you ever thought that heck if a guy in spandex can beat up four or more guys at once why cant i?
As for a side qeustion where would i learn of classes and powers that doesn't make it all look so alien to me?

Check the sites Powers Section to the top left. Covers just about everything you will need to know in game, powers, villains, maps, missions.
Getting in game and grabbing any of the staffers or gameamp alliance supergroup members is a sure fire way to get into the game fast.
Yes, we do have a site SG and its a load of fun and everyone will be more than helpful to help get you started.
Hope this helps.

It's fine. I'm not really one myself, I just like playing an epitome of good virtues who destroys evil and it's work.

Well, if you tell us the type of character you usually enjoy playing we can give you some tips as to which powers (and archtype) would be the best to fit into those permaniters.

depends what u wanna play.
Blasters deal damage from a range. these r the most damaging Archtype (AT) in the game, but have something of a glass jaw. (they die easily)
scrapers are the melee fighters supreme. they deal the second most damage, behind blaster, and they have dfenses. this is a good AT for soloing, but are also very useful in teams.
Defenders are the buffers/debuffers. (they make allies stronger and enemies weaker) a defender can heal for an entire team, grant them force fields, or radiate foes so they can barely move, or render them incapable of attacking.
Controllers control. they lock down enemies, or summon helpers at higher lvls. they have an innate ability that causes double damag to foes that theyve held/stunned/imobilized, and they can also buff as good as any defender if they know what theyre doing.
Tanks are the shield for their entire team. the tank has the highest defense of al the ATs, and medium attac. the point of a tank on a team is to make sure every single enemy in the room is looking at the tank and the tank alone, and not notice that team thats ripping through them.
for more info on the specific powrs available to each, click firespray's link. There are also Peacebringers and Warshades, but they are only available oonce u have a lvl 50 character, and by that time u should know alot about them.
happy hunting!

Special note for those considering time cards.. ANY of the NCSoft time cards will work across the board. For example ; Auto Assault time cards will work for CoH or CoV.. Thus, expanding your viable options for time card availability..

Welcome
And since the game makes you build your charactor powers, looks, and name before you start to play ( and these basic things primary power set, secondary power set, and name Cannot Be Changed )
Spend 30 minutes to an hour on the left side bar there, read every primary power set and Arch Type before you ever start the charactor creator. I bet you end up making something different than you might guess if you do it blind.
Delphon (pssst defenders are the best)

Just wanted to say welcome to the site, and razz Del for bein so biased (I love Defenders too, lol). If you have any questions on specific powers or powersets, feel free to post em up, or send a PM to me or any of the staffers or posters. I don't wanna speak for everyone here (my foot tastes bad) but I know I'll help you in any way I can, and I'm sure the others will too. And another good source of info is the guide's section. It has info on specific builds, as well as how to play a certain AT well.
Anywho, Welcome to the Site!

I'm with ya on this one. I'm not a big super hero or comic fan...I just got tired of killing giant vermin in RPGs.

Welcome to the site!
When you get in-game, you can join the Gameamp.com channel and then let us know you are on and new. If one of us has a hero on the server you are on, we can come over and help you through some of the beginning stuff.
(By the way... Defenders are the best)
