Well, I've been reading other topics and found someone had claimed to have seen 'Gwen's ghost' in the Underworld, but coincidentally (and somewhat suspiciously, in my mind) couldn't find it in him to take a screenshot at the time. Now, far be it from me to speak on something I don't have direct experience in, and as I've never been to the Underworld I couldn't say one way or another.
But honestly, has anyone ever confirmed that Gwen is a ghost in the Underworld? It's one of those things that I'll really only believe when I see it. And really, if we went all this time, being strung along by Anet, just to find out that Gwen's a ghost in the Underworld...I think that would pretty much finish me for Guild Wars.
Anyway, I look forward to any information here. Thanks in advance.

this is only a rumor, im not sure about it, but im testing it out.
ok, if you give gwen all the stuff in pre, she will give you a "tapestry". if you take it into the underworld, it will trigger a extra cutscene.
thats the rumor, im testing it currently

Yeah, I've done some researching and have found that most places that actually did any investigation into this rumor have turned up that it's totally false, that only Gwen's mother is findable in the Underworld and not Gwen herself. Thankfully. But while I gave Gwen a bucketload of flowers and gifts, I never was able to get the tapestry yet, so I doubt I'll be able to test it. I would be happy to hear from those who can comb the Underworld and find out whether or not this really is true though, once and for all.
The person who posted the information here said that she was near a Grenth statue or something like that, standing there silently, unresponsive to any sort of prompting from anyone, and that she was after a bunch of other things, and very far from the entrance indeed. Which to me smacks of 'we made this up to laugh at people who actually went so far as to see if we were telling the truth or not,' but perhaps that's a little of my skepticism showing through.
I'd like to believe it's a total fabrication, especially since I am very fond of Gwen. And it would be an extreme anticlimax after all the items we found of Gwen's, the part she played in pre-Searing, and the fact that she's easily one of the most talked-about characters in the game (even making the Japanese version's tutorial as an iconic representative!) So I hope indeed it is just a particularly nasty little invention on the parts of some equally nasty gamers.
But I would like to know one way or the other, even if only so I know whether or not to waste my time further...

did you get her a cape?...all you have to do is give her about 5 flowers, a new flute and a "little girl's cape" that you can buy at the merchants.

In order to get the tapestry from Gwen, you have to give her these items. You need to give her her old flute, get her a new flute, get her a cape, and then give her five flowers (give her the flowers all at the same time. I've given 15 flowers to her before, but all in different zones and times and she never gave me the tapestry then.) If you do all of that, then you'll get the tapestry. Now, as for the use of the tapestry, I have no clue with what to do with it. Your rumors sound inticing, but I'm not about to head off to the UW just to find out if Gwen is actually there or not. I do have a devotion to Gwen, but then she really was my favorite friend from pre-Searing. And her healing was invaluable. I really liked Gwen. Something about her just sat right with me.

Me too, I loved Gwen. It is sad that she would be dead but I would love to go to the underworld to visit her ghost if it was as sweet as she was alive!!
If I get a another pet cat or dog I will name her Gwen.

Power Lich, you have the distinguishing characteristic of being the first puerile idiot I've ever seen on these boards. Congratulations!
And incidentally, if you can count and paid any attention, her healing was considerable in the first few missions in pre-Searing. You could survive with Gwen's help whereas without her you might be toast.
As for the alleged ghost being perky, unfortunately from what the one person said who claimed to have seen it, it said nothing, did nothing, and just stood there silently and without ability to interact. Which I think is unlikely; if they just intended to have her be in the Underworld anyway, why string indications of her presence so far from Ascalon, why have items of her anyway, and why not mention anything about it when asked? So I really don't buy it, especially since he just happened not to be able to take a screenshot. Personally it sounds fishy to me, but I would like to know.
It just doesn't add up, in my opinion.

here is what i have found so far.
you can get the tapestry, you just have to have all the items she could ask for (5 flowers, a cape, and a flute)
and keep talking to her and giving her the stuff untill she gives you the tapestry! ^^
EDIT: you have to be alone outside for gwen to give the tapestry
i will be testing the underworld pretty soon, for the cutscene, so i will post more when the time comes!
and for you gwen haters out there (cough) Lich (cough)

Her flute is in postsearing Old Ascalon (more specifically the ruins of Ashford Village). HOWEVER, there is also the Tattered Girl's Cape in Stingray Strand, which pretty strongly implies that Gwen was over there (since there are no other cape-wearing girls in the game). So, did Gwen survive the Searing and go west? Maybe.
Also, ANY healer henchman, especially one that never gets attacked by enemies and doesn't take experience or loot from me is one that I like. Gwen is a nice addition to presearing and one that many people enjoy, which is why her fate is a matter of conspiracy theorists ingame.

Right, and to boot, she already broke one flute. There's nothing that says that couldn't have been the old flute she discarded after it was broken by the river skale. And the cape in Stingray Strand rather indicates that it had been used for some time (tattered) and distance, considering where it is.

Personally I hope to meet up with her again someday. I have characters still in pre-Searing just because it's so nice, pretty, and overall pleasant. I have to say, if I had one regret about the Prophecies campaign, it would be that nothing quite as idyllic as pre-Searing Ascalon was really provided (that I've found as of yet) post-Searing, outside of Cantha. I think if they revealed a quest, or something that would enable people to see Gwen alive and well again, in post-Searing, they'd have an uncontrollable scramble to get to that quest, regardless of what the rewards for it were or the foes to be confronted were.
The more I read about the whole Underworld apparition, the more I'm convinced it's a hoax, though. I've read some reports from a couple of other people who combed the Underworld and found nothing. But I would like to see if someone can confirm or deny the report that's posted on these boards about the Grenth shrine 'ghost of Gwen' that the player for some reason didn't take a screenshot of. I think it's entirely false, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Gwen was captured by the white mantle and raised by kind women.Once the mantle learned her powers they tried to capture her. She hid on a cargo ship that arived at lions arch one day and traveled to Cantha. She now lives on the streets of Cantha, avoiding the Am Fah.

Well, long time ago, when the rumor started, I did the test myself. Created a new char, gave the flowers, get the tapestry from Gwen... kept the tapestry until I could go to the UW. Once there I tried to talk to the mother and all ghosts around just in case. Nothing happened.
Just sharing what I saw. Don't know if A-net added anything since then, but as far as I know, that tapestry thing is a broken quest that hasn't been fixed maybe because they want to make players wonder about it.
Just my 2 cents.

ive tested the tapestry shred and got nothing in the begginen of the uw the smite area or the plains of chaos however i have not tried it with the flute and/or the tattered cape ill go explorin with em once i find the cape also im somewhat suspicious if there doing all or most of the uw quests will possibly trigger something to do with gwen or something else special like the fow forgemaster but for uw.

Then again how old would Gwen be in the storyline of post? Isn't the young boy in pre a soldier now in post or is he the boy you have to take the ghosts to outside of ascalon city?

She would be two years older, just as everyone else after pre-searing. I'ma try the tapestry-tattered cape-Gwen's broken flute-thing too. But, what if you don't have to look for her in UW, but after all the missions, bonuses and quests.
Also, I find it discouraging cus the items in post-searing don't say "Quest Item".
Maybe it's just something from Arenanet to keep us wondering and wondering...

Boo gwen sucks. I only say this beacause pre searing sucks. Theres nothing but retarded players who lack the ability to get past the first level. So gwen can go and burn in fow for all I care(fow=hell uw=heaven).

U know, that was completely offtopic and doesn't make sense. There are a lot of people who wonder where Gwen is. I'm not totally Gwen-minded, and I find her annoying after a while too, but that doesn't mean I go calling people retarded. And as for that guy/girl saying she'd be disappointed in GW, think of it as a joke. And if it's no joke, so what? Will he/she bother you with that?

How was I going off topic? I said this imparticular peice of pixels sucks. I mean really gwen is a usless load of pixels. So to me if it's usless and for some reason worshipped it sucks.
