ok its taken 17hours for the WoW to get to 53%
now i have a custom computer and its fast and it has plenty of room why is it taking so long?????

I think it's just slow, because it's taking forever for me also. Lots of people trying to get it :)
hope it starts to pick up soon, can't wait to try it!
Now just to make some play time so I can have some fun...

I never had the desire to download large mmorpgs or even beta test major mmorpgs.
I be glad to betatest smaller ones.. The last major mmorpg I betatested so far was lineage2.
And even the other gaming community I hang out at are also too spoiled with WoW.

It doesn't matter how great your PC is when downloading. The big two factors will be;
a) Your Internet connetion with your ISP - and then their connection to the rest of the world.
b) The amout of people downloading (including both the file you're downloading, and anything else from that server) - the more people trying to download, then often the slower you're find the download is.
Personally, I've had WoW downloading for 30 hours now, and it's still got about 3 hours to go. Although to be fair, 5 of those hours I had did slwow the download down myself in order to be sure to have bandwidth to DJ while in game.

Huh. My roomate started the DL for WoW over 24 hours ago, and he is only 3% in.... When I did it, it only took me 6 hours.... I think he figures it will be done in time for the game to go live!

I think it depends on the location that you download it from.
I'm starting to wonder if they just put all of the people on the stress server, instead of starting an Open Beta server all together...

when downloading WOW, avoid the torrent downloader if you have cable or any internet slower than T1 but faster than 56k....cause it'll kill your download bandwith by maxxing your upload bandwith.
Download what you can from fileplanet, although you'll have to weather the upgrades from their "blizzard unconfigurable torrent" group.
