Listen I know that the PS3 is going to be good but are you really willing to give up an arm, leg, and 400 or 500 dollars?
Just wondering if it is really worth it.

of course im not willing to pay that redonkulous amount! thats insane.
for that kind of money, it better get at least 25 miles to the Gallon, and safely seat 7 adults.
(yes, i know its a game console)

Give it a bit of time, I have no doubt it will come down in price. They always do.

Well, it's going to take at least a year before the PS3 drops its price. I still remember throwing down $300 for the PS2, and it had been out for about 10 months.
By the by, I'll probably save up and grab a PS3 a while after it comes out. I love having console games around, and they'll stop making new titles for the PS2 shortly after the big release. It's worth the cash, kiddies. Pony it up! :P

Actually, they'll keep making titles for the PS2 for quite a while after the PS3 comes out. The PSOne titles only recently stopped being released (I think sometime last year). They'd lose a HUGE market if they stopped making games for PS2 as soon as 3 comes out. X-Box would steal the majority of the market since it plans to release games for the original X-Box for quite a while longer...
And I have no intention of paying 500 bucks for a PS3. I waited about a year for the PS2 to go down in price and I think it was worth the wait. Sure, I didn't have it when it was brand new, but everything got cheaper then I made my move. I'll probably do the same thing. And if I don't like the PS3 stuff, I'll jump to X-Box 360.
