I just recently found out that CPMA (Q3) has player outlines, "invisible" players if you will, at every spawn point during warmup. This is to help players learn the spawnpoints more quickly and more efficiently. Is it possible to do something like this with the Unreal Engine? I think this would be a really nice feature to add to a future version of UTComp.

Since apperently work has been resumed on UTComp I'm bumping this thread in hopes to have this feature implemented in a later version.

You can do this yourself by going into the editor and it has little icons that represent spawn points. From there you can make your own little ingame actor that will represent the spot (what my clan did was make yellow tiles for the spawn points). However, it will count as a new map rather than a warmup option but either way works.

This is an excellent idea Powerslave. It's been very slow for me, learning the different spawn points to each map. This would help tremendously.

Thanks to Radiosity, there's a mutator available that outlines the spawnpoints:

Doesn't work on a dedicated server.

Thanks for the headsup Ape.
That's really a damn shame - i was going to have a portion of our practices dedicated to getting position based on spawnpoints ;(

Well, here's something you can try: http://nakedape.servegame.com/SpawnOutlines.zip
It's a crude, ugly hack and only works with UTComp 1.5a/1.6 (not tested with others) but it works online as well as in Instant Action.
Let me know what you think of it.

Radiosity's link is dead.
edit: naked ape that one works pretty well... i mean it's nothing super fancy, but it gets the job done and lets you see where the points are...
