O so NCSoft is supposed to remove the ability to be green and muscular? That would be just plain stupid. What they should do is crack down on any marvel clones. And perhaps remove the claws powerset, it sucked anyway.

i like how they are sueing for copyright infringement when their reason is that the green tankes come CLOSE to looking like it. these cloners look like the marvel toons, but you you can always find something flawed about their costume. i think with this, it can open up many lawsuits for things having to much resemblense of something. if this happens then why not start sueing all the parody makers (not that i want that to happen). not only does the story and characters resemble the copyrighted matriel, they are also make a joke of someone's life work. this is really stupid. it seems like its goin to get so bad that someone won't be albe to dress up like Pysloc or the American Maid for a party or something because it resembles them to much. i can agree that NCsoft should have put something to avoid this, SWG did. can't be named john skywalker or something. damn you cloners! i've been playing Halo 2 online (wooo yea!1!) and i played with like 3 guys all named Master Chief 7777, 7778, and 777...you guessed it 9...well maybe this doesn't count. Personally I would have (if i was Stan Lee) thought this was cool, people love my work (or its so memorable) so much that people are making their heroes resembling my toons. but that's just me, i would like the feeling. bah! damn you cloners!

oh heck if they wanted to get technical, how many other is there able to make like to comic book charaters, I have seen a ton of Storms, Rogues, colosses, the sentinels, and so on. if thier going to grip and wine about every thing I dont see why the "comoc book" companies whould try to shut down CoH all togeether. Hell even Mavel and D.C. cant even make new super power heros due that they cant think of anymore power sets.

i was just reminded of another comic book hero game, i think its was called... hmm, good question. something the sounds or resembles freedom fighters but not that title. anyways, it was what i think of as a pre-CoH. and in that game you can make skins to look like rogue, my bro had a team of marvel characters: rogue, hawkeye, and a few others. pfft marvle, bunch of babies. theres alot of terminater and tick cloners and they aren't sueing NCsoft. BABIES!!!

it was Freedom Force. yea damn you cloners. but, yea. they knew this would happen and should have designed a filter system from the begining. honestly. you dont just put in the options needed to create a Hulk or Wolvy and then tell people....you have the tools to make them but you cant make them. cause people are going to make them. you dont put a shelf of keys in the center of the prison and tell the inmates...dont touch these keys which are used to open locks here in the prison. marvel will probably win. their bored lawyers will find all kinds of stuff to win the case and get paid lots of money. if they actually shut down CoH (which i doubt) then marvel will probably release its own super hero game down the line. and with CoH out of the way marvels hero game will be the only one on the online market.

I won't be buying the Spiderman 2 DVD when it comes out on November 30. I had it on preorder at an online store and I canceled it the very minute I heard about the lawsuit.

And I think I'll do my part to help NCsoft and Cryptic by buying the CoH DVD edition. I might even switch my subscription to yearly.

It was inevitable that this would happen. I hope NCSoft and Cryptic stick it to Marvel though. I agree the cloners should be fined, not the company. I also agree that the US is rampant with people suing each other for lack of anything productive to do though.

Getting sued because the players have the imagination and ingenuity to use the character creation engine to get characters that look "too similar" to Marvel Characters.

IMO if you REALLY want to complain about this, as I do because Marvel used to be one of my idols and this just sickens me, go to http://www.marvel.com/company/contact.htm and email some of the people there with your opinions regarding this "moron move" on Marvel's part.

I'll be emailing them soon :)

Email is worthless, because it's too easy to send. If you really want to make your point of view heard, you have to make an effort and perhaps incur some expense.

That means a fax or a phone call. Or better yet a letter. Still better would be a certified letter or a telegram. And at the top of the list would be a personal visit to their corporate headquarters, although that probably won't get you past the front desk. None of these guarantee that they'll pay attention to you, but still, the minimum should be a phone call or a letter. Anything less is too easily discarded and disregarded.
