I was wondering where you can get a black moa as a pet and what level they start at. Any help is appreciated.

Pretty sure Black Moa's can be gotten only from the Quest "The Beak of Darkness" from Rutger Zu Helter in House Zu Helter... I am unsure of its level though.
Warrior/Monk - Finished Chapter 1
Elemtalist/Monk - Finished Chapter 1
Monk/Mesmer - Finished Chapter 1
Ranger/Monk - Finished Chapter 1

You get it form a kurzick quest called the beak of darkness. The bird starts at level 20.

Deamon Hellspawn (lvl 20 A/Mo)
Honeynut Ritualists (lvl 20 Rit/R)

Its a lenghty quest unless you have several Kurzick towns and can go to the towns closest to the guys you need to speak with about it but its not a hard quest, just becareful if your wantign it as a pet and tame it before the henchies kill it (that is unless your not gonna use henchies)

you do not need the Beak of Darkness quest to get the black moa. even if you dont have it, it is still level 20. I HAVE SCREENSHOTS AS PROOF!

from what i understand, the bird does not spawn unless you've finished the quest, and if you have the quest, he spawns as a baddie... of course, the best and fastest way to get the bird is to group w/ a guildie who has done the quest before. In which case, the moa will spawn just outside of zu heltzer (i think) as a regular critter (green, not red) and you can tame him there.

I also heard that after you do the quest he will always spawn there.

I know that for a fact. I did the quest, killed him and went back, and woalla he was there again :D

I'm pretty sure you was with guildie or someone who beat the quest, if no it's impossible to get it with hench without quest ^^
Stopped playing Guildwars when Anet ruined the two thing enjoyable in this game: pvp and economy.

the black moa starts at lv 20 and u need the quest a freind told me that he got it without quest
