Dead or Alive

(Setting: Mercy Island. No real story, just wanna see what develops if anything. Feel free to add any twists.)

In one of the many run down warehouses in Mercy Island, Dr. Graves worked feverishly. Carefully pouring a foul smelling liquid from a test tube into a beaker, he slowly turned up the bunsen burner. The liquid bubbled and hissed as it touched the heated glass, turning a thick black.

Graves smiled. It had been too long since he'd seen any of his children. Locked away in that forsaken place all these years, deprived of his work. Fortunately, they'd kept his equipment in the prison and he'd lucked out in coming across them during the riot. Now, in his new home, he was about to recover everything stolen from him the fateful day, 5 years ago.

Using tongs, he poured the liquid into another test tube half-full of a light yellow fluid and capped it before he shook it fiercely in his hands, the black and yellow mingling until the darkness completely absorbed the light, and hurled it to the floor. Instantly, the glorious stench of death and decay filled his nostrils as thick black smoke whipped about as if it had a life of it's own. Within the darkness, a shape rose up and shambled towards him.

"Whoooo?" The corpse asked, peering at him drunkingly.

"Jack! It's me, your father!" Graves responded with a wide smile, arms wide.

The zombie cocked it's head slightly, the wheels turning as it processed what it'd just heard. Finally, what remained of the lips curled into a hideous smile and it stumbled forward. "Fah-ther?!"

"Yes! I've brought you back again!" Graves exclaimed as his dead son embraced him, thrilling at feeling his cold skin and skeletal hands again. "Just like a promised."

Minutes passed before Jack the Zombie pulled himself away. Looking around slowly, it's mouth worked several times before finally sputtering out, "Where? Uh-Thers?"

Graves gestured towards his make-shift lab. "I only had enoough to bring you back so far, Jack." He replied, "But soon, we'll get the supplies we need to get them all. Then we can all be together again. Would you like that Jack?"

Jack thought about it again, his brow furrowing in deep concetration. Finally, he grinned again and nodded, drool dripping from his lips. Graves, so caught up in his personal victory, hugged his boy again.

"Well isn't this lovely?" A voice asked from the shadows.

Graves scanned the room, reaching for his "Nightlight", a small bracelet that allows converts oxygen into different smoke like substances. "Who's there?!" He demanded, the air around him becoming dark and smoggy. "Show yourself!"

The voice chuckled before replying, "Very well."

A tall and muscular figure stepped out of the shadows,

"Long time no see isn't it doc?" The voice still mysterious, maybe even dangerous. The zombie was alert, and almost growling...

"I see you've been robbed as well... Crey ruined my company that you helped me create so well, that evil bitch destroyed everything! Now i see you have been robbed old friend, that is why I'm here to help!" The figure was now visible in the light, he was wearing a red suit, red with blood...

"Remember me...?" asked the figure now calmly, ignoring the zombies wierd noises...

Graves smirked, the smoke around him seeming to withdraw but not completely disappear. "Rox." He said, adjusting the wireframe glasses perched on his nose, "Heard you were dead...or in jail...can never remember these days." Jack turned and looked quizzically at Graves, who shrugged, "Though these days, when has either stopped anyone?"

Realizing that something more important was happening, Grave suddenly shook the cobwebs from his mind. "Wait, you're company was destroyed? By Crey? It appears we may have a mutual enemy...just like old days, eh?"

"Unfortunately, even your skills may not be enough to topple the corporate giant that is Crey. We're gonna need help and I think I know who might be able to help us achieve both our goals." Graves continued, pulling a cell phone from his dirty white smock. "I just hope they're feeling receptive today."

"I hope so too..." Murmered Rox as the doctor turned a corner to make his call

"You look kinda familiar..." Rox thought as he poked the zombie infront of him, it spat and smacked him with a backhand.

"What has teh doc been up to now? THAT HURT!" Rox thought rubbing his cheek with a cloth to remove the zombie germs.

The doc came back in with a strange expression on his face...

Dr. Graves muttered to vaguely to himself then noticed Rox questioning look. Flashing a disarming smile, he returned the cell phone to his pocket. "It's all set up. We meet him at midnight at the Fort Darwin entrance. From there, we'll see what else we can dig up." Rox was about to question him when Graves abruptly beckoned to Jack. "Come m'boy, I need to make sure your prepared for what's to come."

The two disappeared into one of the few remaining offices. Alone, Rox wandered around the lab, idly looking at the various science equipment that were scattered around the warehouse. Silently, he noted everything he saw, more out of habit then actual conscious thought. Just then, his eyes fell across a tattered journal, partially hidden by a book on Greys Anatomy. Casting a quick look at the office, he made sure Graves was still pre-occupied with Jack the Zombie.

Flipping through a few random pages, his eyes lit up. Things seemed to come together and fall apart at the same time. Before he could get to deeply into the journal, Graves voice crept out of the office. "Awfully quiet in there, Rox. That's never a good thing."

Rox turned towards the office, tucking the journal away for later reading, in a more secured location. "Things change, old friend. You above anyone should have learned that so far." More than anyone else would ever have suspected...

"So just who are we meeting then Doc?" questioned Rox, hs voice different, the britishness in his accent slightly faded. The two of them left the lab, nothing else was said appart from the slight babble of Jack. They Crept along the streets, avoiding Arachnos gaurds and the other goons that lurked around. They were just outside teh fort when a voice cried

"Dont move!" It came from one of two wolfspiders

"Doc take your zomibe thing and meet me by the fort" Rox whispered. He turned around and roared at the Arachnos goons "MAKE ME!"

The wolfspiders didn't reply, but just shot at Rox, who put on his Rock armor and watch teh bullets bounce off his stone skin. HE snorted and crafted a stone mallet, then flashed an evil grin. He lept and brought the mace heavily down on one of the trembeling wolfspiders, who had apparently forgot to fire. The first one was crushed with a sickening crunch, blood pouring out of his carcass. Rox reached out and grabbed the other wolspider, who had tried to flee but with no avail. Rox swung his mace and knocked the wolspider flying into a cafe's wall, so hard that the wolfspider crashed right through itand caused the whole building to colapse on him.

"Pathetic!" murmered Rox, as he carried on towards teh Doc and the 'contact'

"Nice fight."

The voice came out of the air, but no one - or nothing - was to be seen.

"You'll really make it if you always fight like that, although I have to admit, those Wolf Spiders were... weak.

((and of course, I play again with Aurrius (ninja blade/regeneration/mu mastery), companion of Scirocco))

"Had a fee;ing you'd be here! Here to help the doc?" Rox smirked, a good ally was needed, and he was fond of swordsmen. Untill murdered his bodygaurd was a supremly skilled swordsman, shame swords couldn't protect the mind from damage...

They both walked, Aurrius in teh shadows Rox in the open, they found the doc and his zombie being bust by some foolish skulls

"You can have them" Yawned Rox "Way to low caliber"

The Skull cursed loudly as acidic vomit splashed onto his chest, burning through his grey jacket. This left him open as Jack swiped seemingly clumsy at him, catching the Skull across the face with a solid punch, sending him sprawling. Another Skull charged the zombie, axe held high. "Kill you freaks!" He yelled.

Suddenly, his legs seemed to turn to rubber and he collapsed, his strength being drained by black smoke that wisped from him. Dr. Graves stood a few feet away, hands smoldering. As the other Skull struggled to his feet, Jack approached him, grabbed the top of his head and twisted fiercely, snapping his neck.

"Well, that was entertaining." Dr. Graves said, then noticed Rox apporaching. "I trust the Arachnos were taking care of."

"If by that, you mean smeared across the pavement, yes." Rox said, a small smile of pride crossing his lips. "Shall we continue?"

Dr. Graves considered for a moment, idly looking at Rox, then nodded. "Indeed."

((Graves hasn't noticed Aurrius in the shadows))

Aurrius walked along, silently in the dark, swiftly jumping from shadow to shadow to remain undetected.

Suddenly, he felt something. He looked behind him and saw an army of Hellions coming after Dr Graves and Bloody Rox. He quickly murmled some words and with a gigantic arc of lightning from the sky, a Mu Adept appeared, and quickly finished all the Skulls off.

"You're welcome my friend. Glad to have saved your *ss."

Rox looked back and smiled at him, and before Dr Graves could turn around and look what had happened Aurrius was already gone, blended into the environment.

Rox winked at the hidden Aurrius, before turning to teh Doc and smirking

"Summer rains eh? So who is this contact then Doc, is he even on this isle? Whoever he/she is they better be strong cause i want to topple ALL of Crey industrys, like they did to our company!" Rox clentched his fists and reddend in the face. Horric memeorys came back, the fire, the killed workers, his bodygaurd's sacrafice, his wife being hung in the blaze. Rox fell to the ground for a second, broken down inside. Then he slammed his fists into the Earth, and tore up a huge rock burried under the pavement, he held it up above his head and roared a roar full of pain, even a littel blood trickled down his chin. Using all his might he launched teh giant rock straight into a large gang fight between Arachnos and a few snakes, crushing them and leaving a large puddle of blood beside the rubble.

"Thats... better... ish" Sighed Rox, with the red draining from his face "Lets go before i end up getting us arrested..."

Dr. Graves began to study the remains of the Snakes, fascinated by their structure, before finally answering Rox. "Our ally in this struggle is none other than Stephen Grey. I trust you've heard of him."

Rox blinked, stunned. Of course he'd heard of him. He was head of the Aztech Corporation, a robotics and genetics company second only to Crey Industries. But why would a billionaire CEO want to help them? Suddenly, a voice called out from behind him, "Because I want Crey to fall as much as you do."

Whipping around, Rox saw a man standing about ten feet away, wearing a grey suit and had long silver-grey hair. His face was very angular and sharp, eyes bright with intelligence. Beside him, another figure stood at almost 7'5". He also wore a suit, though a much darker grey, and wore a skull-like metal mask. The oddest thing about him was that fire seemed to burn from the eye slots.

"Did you just read my mind?" Rox demanded.

The smaller man smirked. "Why yes, and I'm not too thrilled about what you're thinking about doing to me about it, though I must warn you that that would be most ill-advised." As if on cue, the bigger man erupted into flames. "Oh, and tell your ninja friend there to come out. I do hate surprises, as you can imagine."

Aurrius stepped from the shadows, sword sheathed but hand on the hilt. Graves looked at Rox in surprise. "You had us followed?"

Rox shrugged with a grin, "This is the City of Villains, old friend."

((The larger man in the suit [fire/fire brute], Legion 13, is a mute and does not talk. Stephen Grey [mind/psionic dom] is aloof and a bit smug))

"So what's the plan?" Rox asked, folding his arms. "You mentioned taking down Crey and that wench running it."

Grey smiled politely as he pulled a cigarette from his pocket, "Of course. With the exception of our shadowy friend, each of us has had their own run ins with the Crey agenda."

Rox glanced at Graves, who only returned a cold stare. Rox knew that Graves had his own dealings of Crey Industries, but they had always been his to know. Or at least til now, Rox thought grimly, thinking about the journal he had pocketed.

Grey lit up, enjoying the dramatics of it all. "I believe that we can hit them hard enough, quickly enough, that it will destabilize the company. If not crumble it completely." He continued, "My own agents have procured a document about a secret test going on onboard a ship just off the shore of Paragon. Very dangerous. From what I've heard, Crey has been putting a significant amount of funding into this project."

"Destroy a Crey experiment?" Rox said, unimpressed, "It's been done. By villains and heroes alike. I don't think one more is gonna crush them, no matter how much they have on the table."

Before Grey could argue, Aurrius spoke up from the shadows. "It is possible. They're empire is like a deck of cards, each of their investments holding up the deck. But that house has been weakened and just a minor vibration could topple it all."

"Not only is it possible," Grey replied, "But feasible. The information that we can extract from the ship, along with evidence carefully placed, could lead to a very long, difficult time for Crey."

"Kill them with bueracracy?" Graves asked, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

Rox scowled. "I'm not a patient man, Grey. I want them dust beneath my boot. I've seen these people weasel out of the most obvious crimes."

Grey merely nodded. "I agree. So it would be during this time that we would strike at the heart. Clear the table of every last one of them."

Aurrius had listened to the conversation, and stepped out of the shadow of a half-destroyed building. "Go ahead Rox, go, attack the Crey facility. I'll go with you to make sure you don't die. At least, if you want protection from the Mu."

Unknown to the group, there were two special Crey agents tracking Grey and Rox. They quickly left teh scene to warn the Countess...

"I dont like standing around when theres squashing to do! I want to see the bitch dead and under my foot for what she did to my wife. As for the big thing (Hopkins) that followers here around hes going to pay for killing my friends and bodygaurds! Aurrius i thank you fro your generocity, help will be appriciated. One thing though, how are we gona get to Crey's folly without beign swamrmed by pesky heroes?" Rox asked, arms still folded and right foot tapping...

"Ha!! You think those heroes would be a problem? They won't send the Vindicators nor the Freedom Phalanx, just let me kill some, distract them so you can go in, once I've killed them - which won't be long - I'll join you, agreed?" Aurrius said tapping his foot on the ground, seemingly unpatient.

"As you wish, well i know how to take us there!" Rox now beamed and nodded, "Hold on tight"

He clicked his fingers and suddenly there was a huge gust of wind, blowing all but himself over (only due to his huge stoney weight). He snapped his fingers again and a black jet appeared in the clearing beside them.

"The only thing Crey didn't destroy, my own private jet" Rox said with almost love in his voice, "Those who are comming hop in, room for all of you! Oh and Doc, if your zombie throws up on my seats I'm gona have to charge you for it!"

Rox pulled open the door and lowered the stairs, he rushed into the cockpit and started the engine. The others quickly got in, including the zombie (much to Rox's displeasure). Rox flipped a switch and the plane rose vertically, i slowly hovered upwards and turned around about 160* degrees anti clockwise.

"Now lets hit the stealth and begoing!" Rox murmered to himself flicking another button. From in the lounge his passangers looked out of the window and saw Arachnos troops getting the firing guns ready. Grey telepathed a warning to Rox, who happily chuckled and engaged fight mode. "I'm going to need one of you to help me here!" He called back, and within a second Aurrius appared. "Grab that gun 'troller there and blast them, for me!" Rox giggled, as he engaged the planes's rockets. He aimed carefully and fire a volly of rockets into the fort's walls, causing untold havoc amongst the troops within. After disabling the gatling guns (by blowing them apart) Rox blew a huge hole in the wall
"Aurrius I want to save rockets,gun those troops down for me" Came Rox's voice, with a large amount of pleasure in it. After taking careful aim all the Wolfspiders that poored out of the hole were gunned down.

Rox hit the booster and powered teh Jet away from Mercy island at top speed, before reinforcements came. Aurrius returned to the cabin's 'lounge' and Rox made a typical captains announacement

"Hello my name is Rox and I will be your captain for the flight. We will be arrive in Paragon city in around an Hour or so. I ask that you don't smoke or vomit during this flight. Please enjoy the bar and plasmascreen services provided and enjoy your flight...

One last thing, when we arrive in the paragon area things may get a little rough, and flyers will be needed to combat any passing heros. Thank you!"

"Just had to do that..." Rox thought to himself, sticking his jet on auto piolt and enjoying a nice cool drink from his bar.

Aurrius took a drink from the bar, not knowing what on earth it was, and drank it. Tasted good, bit alcoholic. When he finished his drink, he sat down in the middle of the lounge and started meditating.
The zombie came to him and murmled: "Wha-at he duing?" It reached out with its hand...

Don't you even dare pointing at me you pathetic creature

...and turned around in fear, crawling to the back of the plane. Aurrius continued meditating, talking to his master Scirocco while doing so. I'm on my way to Paragon City to assist a.. "friend" of mine in destroying Crey. You will be happy once Countess Crey is out of our way my master.

Rox was suprised at how quite the journey was, hardly anyone spoke other then Jack. No sooner then they had reached the shores of Paragon heroes were on teh attack, not regular heroes, Crey Heroes!

"Dudes can you cover this I gota fly my jet here, persides I cant fly!" Rox shouted back flicking into manual mode.

The paragon protecters closed in...

Grey turned to Legion, thumbing the jet door. "Take care of this. It'll be a good warm up for what's coming up." Legion merely nodded and got to his feet, his massive frame crouched to avoid hitting the ceiling.

"Sure thing, just let me drop some altitude so we can..." Rox started, but was cut off as Legion punched a button on the beside the door, sliding it open. Immediately, the air pressure dropped and oxygen was sucked from the plane. Everyone grabbed their sit, Aurrius quickly grabbing hold of the bar.

"You crazy?!" Rox yelled out, wrestling with the controls.

Legion peered out the door for a second, then stepped out, tumbling into a free fall. Rox hit the override and the door slid close. "You do that again, I'm tossing you through the door Grey...I might even open it for ya!"

Grey didn't listen as he watched the bigger man fall. Several Protectors followed him, firing energy bolts. Suddenly, Legion erupted into flames and rocketed back up, slamming hard into to of the Protectors. They spun uncontrollably through the air, smoldering.

Several more broke from their assault on the jet to face this new threat but didn't last long as Legion slammed into them with incredible force. The jet rocked, prompting cries from Rox. "Careful out there! Do what you want to the PPs, just don't hurt the jet!"

Aurrius sighed when the jet was being attacked. This is taking too long.. I want to smash Crey so we can get this over with.. aargh..

He stood up and charged his powers.. he shot some tremendously powerful bolts of red lightning at the door lock, immediately destroying it and the door opened. Again, all the oxygen sucked out, and Rox yelled: "Oh damn you! I told you not to damage the jet you idiot!!" Too bad for you then, it's better that I destroy it than Crey...
He jumped down, drawing his two ninja blades, and summoning some Mu Adepts to assist him on the ground.

He touched the ground, and all the Paragon Protectors forgot the living flame they were fighting, and looked around, to Aurrius, surrounded by Mu Adepts and Guardians, and Aurrius read their thoughts: 'Oh noes... is that Aurrius? The ally of Scirocco and Master of the Mu? Holy...'
"MU!! CHARGE!! FIRE AT WILL!!" Aurrius screamed, and all the Mu charged their lightning attacks to take the Paragon Protectors out as quick as possible. Aurrius himself jumped to a small group of the heroes, and slashed once, and three fell to the ground, grabbing their bleeding throats. The last one tried to fly away, but Aurrius jumped after her, and stuck his blade through her head, and she fell down, right on top of another Protector. After a few minutes of slicing, dicing, and shooting lightning, the scene was filled with the dead bodies of Paragon Protectors.
He waved his hand to signal that it was safe, and that Rox could land his jet without risking it being destroyed.

But all was not safe, a single paragon protecter remained, a new different one. It shot a powerful icy blast at teh jet, freezing and then shattering the right wing.

"NOOOOO" Rox screamed now really pissed off, as his jet spiraled out of control. He hit the auto piolt and ran to the others.

"Grey get your meat to catch you!" He screamed as he threw grey out of the hole that was his door. Doc Graves looked scared, "Your next doc, grab your thing and take this" Rox thrust a parachute on the Docs back and threw him out with Jack. Rox searched wildly, and tore up some carpet on the floor. He opened a door and pulled out his emergancy raptor pack, then he flung himself out of his jet. He has set the auto piolt to crash the jet into the Crey building, jsut for an additional damage toll to Crey.

"You even took my jet you bastards" He said to himself sadly. Then he hit his raptor pack into maxiumum thrust and charged the ice protector, who repsonded with ice bolts. Rox weaved in and out with a few narrow misses, and moulded rocks around his fist. He got into ranged and grabbed its arms, snapping them under his intence grip, the protecter screamed. Rox firmly gripped the back of the protectors head, and nosedived and max speed holding the portector out first... They hit the ground, or at least what was left of the protector did, Rox jsut hovered a foot above the ground with fresh blood staining his suit. He waited for the others...

"Nice and subtle, as always." Aurrius said ironic, looking at Rox' blood-stained clothes. "Just shut up and go inside."

Aurrius dismissed his Mu assistants and walked inside the Crey building, already half ruined by the jet which had crashed into it.

Master, we've invaded Crey. The building is hit by a private jet and everything is going the way we've planned it. You won't be disappointed.

The hallway was dark, with only flickering lights illuminating the way. "It's quiet." Rox commented.

"I like the quiet." Airrius replied softly, melting through the shadows as he took point. Behind Rox, Grey and Graves followed, Legion taking the rear. Suddenly, Rox realized something was wrong.

"Where's that boy of yours, Doc?"

Graves did not reply, only staring straight ahead. Something seemed more off about him than usual. Thinking back, Rox realized Graves hadn't said two words since leaving the Isles. "Don't flake out on me now, old man..." He whispered to himself.

"Look doc if your sore about me throwing you outa my jet, it was either that or you go boom!" Rox said, irritation growing within but he hid it well

"when you feel from my plane, could you not save him...? Doc..."

Suddenly the group stopped, there was a single security agent in front of them. For a second no one moved, then the agent turned and ran. Aurrius swooped down on him and drove the blade through his heart... the split milisecond after the agent hit the alarm. Sirens rang out

"They are comming!" Announced Grey...

As klaxxon alarms rang, the hallway was pitched into flashes of blood red light as the ambers flared on and off. From all over, Crey security personal and armoured Tanks swarmed from doorways hidden in the walls. Within seconds, the group was surrounded.

"Why do I have the feeling we were set up?" Rox asked as the group packed tightly together, no back left exposed.

"You are tresspassing on a private Crey facility." A tank called out, "You are to be placed under our authority until such time we decide you are no longer a threat."

"Bite me, tinman." Rox replied simply. Suddenly, Chaos erupted. Rox and Legion split up, both taking on opposite sides of the fight. Aurrius seemed to dance between bullets and energy blasts, stabbing and slicing with vicious and often lethal accuracy while Grey picked men up and smashed them down while rendering other unconscious.

Graves merely sat back, the same haunted look on his face. In his hands, a vial of his black liquid shook in unsteady hands, sweat beading on his forehead. "Yo, Doc!" Rox called out, "You mind giving us a hand here?" Graves merely stared through Rox, not really seeing him.

Aurrius positioned himself by Rox. "You had better get through to your friend. He has the air of someone about to do something very foolish." But before Rox could act, Graves suddenly sprang to his feet and ran into the darkness, his smock flapping with each step.

"Dammit!" Rox grumbled as he tried to follow Graves only to have more guards press into him, forcing his attention.

"Forget him." Grey called out, holding one man up as a human shield, "We have more important things to worry about than one deranged doctor. He's already dead."

"Maybe so but hes the only one thats been here before and knows where to go!" Rox roared, getting really pissed off by the gaurds now. He grabbed a powertank by the throat and slammed him into the wall, repeatedly pounding his face with a large stony fist. Eventually he dropped the now headless body on the floor. He turned and powerfully swung his stone mace into a bunch of gaurds, causing them to go flying back into the walls, each leaving a small dent with them.

"Rox..." he heard a ghostly voice say in his ears, but it wasnt any of the others, not even Grey. He turned and hit the wall, after that all went black. He had been sniped, only hit in the shoulder but he hit the wall so hard from the knock back it knocked him out... The sniper quickly reloaded...

A brute strode down one of the hallways of the crey building he was here for one thing to be the middle man between a new technology transfer beetween arachnos and crey. His eyes where hidden in chain raps the rest of his body was made up of techbot parts. All colored black beside his chests symbol a pentagram used to bind a soul into a body. He also knew from the crew radio he was given he had to stop one of these villans as they where all key to each others survival. A unkown channel had just sent a message saying one villan was down. I cant trust these fodder to keep one of them pinned down for long. That stalker will have to go down he is obviously the most powerful. But how it was already painfully obvious the stalker was stronger then him. He rememberd his dark powers coming from his hands oh yes the nether tentacles can hold him for long enough for crey to get friends. His suits invunrebility unit started up as he flew through the hole in the floor the jet created when it crashed
