This Weekend

Well, gang, i feel accompolished. heres why:

when i dusted Zephe off for my weekend amount of playtime, she was level 33. i played with some people yesterday in the double-xp happiness, and got her to 34 with like four bars until 35. today, i soloed for two hours waiting for Starwolf to get online (he told me hed be a few minutes LOL) and she magically leveled again. we then joined a Numina TF that started at a rather convenient time, and with alot of laughs, some really good XP, a great annoyance with the final mission being in the middle of the woods where the baddies were two levels above everyone, and alot of dirty language slung back and fourth, we finally completely powned Jurrasik like a hot knife through butter. by the end of the TF, i had leveld to 36 and a half.

now that the braggings out of the way (feel free to share accompolished stories of your weekend adventures), i would like to say that this is the first time ive seen the servers up to this level in a loooong time. Guardian's almost never yellow; and freedom i think was even red. its great to see a bunch of people online. I even ran into Mighty Smiter at the tram in brickstown Friday night.

this made me think: is the reason theres so few people playing now because the Devs made it too hard to level? i thought it was pretty diffocult, and alot of the time, GMs and outside debt being double just made the game not fun to play. so if they had it this way (this amount of XP) all the time, would more people play all the time, or would they eventually stop? or would it just be 'too easy'?

RE: This Weekend

I think it's safe to say that it's obviously the reason the servers have been light. The devs, who shall remain nameless, made it too hard to level and lost the interest of too many players. That's what happens when you tick off the people paying your bills. They don't pay anymore.

And yes, numina was fun, and it was harder to get to the mission than it was to beat Jurrasik. His automobile-mace was not up to the challange. We beat him down like a red headed stepchild. No offense to any red headed stepchildren that read this.

And I look forward to mroe tomorrow, maybe even later tonight.

RE: This Weekend

The main reason the servers are looking full is most likely because the casual gamers that make up a large percentage of the population are all getting on at once instead of spreading their time out during the week.

World of Warcraft (Semi-Retired)

Azgalor: Shalomski - Mage; Bodia - Paladin
Medivh: Shalomski - Warlock; Mikain - Hunter

City of Heroes (Retired)

Protector: Ion Paragon - Rad/Rad Defender; Barbeque King - Fire/Devices Blaster
Infinity: Sheriff Gravity - Gravity/Kinetics Controller; Dusky Dawn - Dark/Electric Defender; Oscar. - Kinetics/Rad Defender

RE: This Weekend

Well my biggest accomplishment (so far) is that last night I finally dinged 48. I just wanna say it again... I dinged 48!!!

And w/ the wonderful help of Jordan Yen, I finally got one of my story archs finished and took down Vanessa de Vore. I think I only have 2, maybe 3 story archs left, then I will official have done them all.

Also I agree the one of the reasons for the high numbers is the casual players all getting on. And I'm sure a lot of people are playing longer than they usually do just to take advantage of the double xp (I know I will be).

I do think if they doubled the xp perminately, people would get burnt out on the game a lot quicker. They would be neededing to add in a lot of new content if they were ever going to consider raising the xp that much. But for a once and a while thing, it is pretty sweet (espically for all you alt-aholics out there).

RE: This Weekend

Well I have not made a huge push on my Tank yet, but I will say that this weekend has been extremly helpful in breaking my 4 lower lvl toons loose and making them fun again. I truly hope the Devs will consider making this type of weekend a slightly more regular occurance, like once every couple months or so. All in all I think that this weekend has been a truly successful experience, at least as far as I can see.

RE: This Weekend

Well i managed to get my primary Alt up a whole 9 levels, from 12 to 21 (and a bit) this weekend with a whole lotta time spent slogging through frostfire over and over and over... well you get the idea!

To be honest before this weekend i was at the point of considering leaving the game because at the higher levels (30+) it becomes brutally hard to level without playing through endlessly lame missions to get to the good stuff at 40+

even if they increased the xp by say, 50%, it would make the game a whole lot more fun, rather than the lame toiling it takes now!

Hope they do another double xp weekend soon!

Oh, Hello Mr. Jurassik! Sorry about that arrow, it wasnt aimed at you. I'll just be on my way now... *flees*

It was fun playing with Liz. I have a video I'll submit later of Liz firing her gun (the audio is messed up though).

I agree that the exp bonus was awesome when I needed it, but I wouldn't want it all the time because I outlevel contacts. I still think you should get a new power at every level or have a much larger variety of temp powers that you can keep (where you have maybe three or four temp powers you keep permenantly, but you can only use one at a time and change which one you use every time you level).

I think they need to give us the ability to differnetiate our characters from the others that have the same powersets...
