Spring Attack

heya everyone,

I got a question for those who have used this feat in the game...I'm trying to figure out how it exactly works...it says in the database that you suffer no minus to attack while moving, but it is listed as a activatable power...so I'm wondering is this.

Do you click this power...you get however long the power is of total free movement with no minus's? or is it an actual attack or something.

Just kinda confused on how this is actually implemented in the game....

thx!

RE: Spring Attack

In DDO, if your character happens to move while attacking with a melee weapon you suffer a -4 to hit. Always. Unless you gain the Spring Attack feat, which you need to follow a specific chain of feats to get to. Spring Attack allows you to move and attack at full bonus to hit, and is great for those who like to litterally hit and run. This is also handy to avoid spells and incomming attacks from monsters - while still pounding on them as you run circles around them attacking the whole time.

For Spring Attack you need the following Feats:
Dodge ( prerequisite Dex score of 13 or better ), Mobility, and a base-attack bonus of I beleive +4.

Spring Attack is a persistant feat, meaning you don't need to click anything or worry about a limited number of uses per-rest. It's also *not* Freedom of Movement, meaning you will still get caught in Webs, oil slicks, or Ice Storms.

Spring Attack also allows you to gain the Whirlwind feat, where you attack every monster in a 360-degree circle around you at your full attack score.

I've had Spring Attack on a few of my fighters, and a fighter/barbarian. It's a very handy thing, if your build is made for speed.

Hope this answered your questions... if I can be of any further help, just let me know. :)

RE: Spring Attack

Thank you for the answer...from the description of the feat, i would assume that it was exactly as you say, but apparantly in the hand book its mis stated as an activatable power...that was confusing me...I just couldn't imagine the devs wanting you to hit this power every 10 secs or so, just to get to attack and move at the same time with no penalties.

RE: Spring Attack

I have it fixed in our data base to reflect that it is passive and not active.
