Firesprays latest spending spree

Hi guys

The base got a major overhaul today. 3 Mill prestige spent fairly wisely IMHO.

I've moved a few things around, got rid of a few things, added a few things.... spent almost everything we had on it.

So we now have-

A bigger plot
A bigger control centre
A bigger teleport bay
A MED UNIT!!!

I hope there are not too many complaints about the new additios or layout. If there are things you'd like to see added, taken away, shifted (it took me 3 hours to do all this today) then let me know.

You're talking about the US SG I suppose?
Cause I don't think you had 3 million prestige on EU, although that base could definitely do with it...

Hummm,

I was wandering the base yesterday, and while it is much nicer than before, I could not help but note somethings that are lacking.

Since Firespray is from the UK, he could not be familar with our US goverment OSHA requirements. {Occupation and Safety Administration} I note no fire fighting equipment, no first aid kits {Not even a box of bandaids or plasters if you like in the med room.} No air vent, fans, or other methods to purify the air. No supplies of clean drinking water.

Oh, and where is the Magaine racks by the three reading rooms? {grin}

Though small, the base is perfectly functional. We have two Tpers, (so 4 destinations), a workshop and a med bay. The only other thing we would need is a vault or whatever for Items of Power, and with the activeness of SoV, I doubt we'll ever need one.

wouldnt the medbay fall under the first aid/personal safety category?

and i think the gameamp alliance is loosely classified as a social gathering or club assembled to participate in an agreed upon pasttime or hobby, so i dunno is OSHA standards would apply. but Big the Tank has taken the OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid Response courses so he can handle any questions the occupational safety and health administration throws at the alliance. and he learned CRP in france and was taugth under the assumptions that a little tongue solves all problems, especially a lack of oxygen.

While I'm all for everyone having a say in the SG base, I just spent 45 minutes balancing out the base control as a personal item had been added.

Im not gonna have a moan about the cost or that it's only going to be of use in a base raid, but the control it cost put us 1 point over what we were generating and as such, screwed with the base.

It took time to balance it out again, a few items shifted around and a new control generating item in place.

Please remember, these things cost prestige, power and control and we are at a very fine balance point. Yes I'd love for people to add in stuff, but ask yourself is it really necessary at the time?

I could have it argued that the 'extras' I added to the base to give it that 'homely' feeling can all go and we can have bare rooms except for the stuff we need - probably save a shedload of prestige :o)

Have fun but please, just ask if its ok before slamming sommat in. Takes a long time to fix small things :o)

Mind you, Im a perfectionist when it comes to base building. I could do that all damn day!!

Oh, Fire fighting equipment now installed, some bookshelves with books for those intellectuals, air fans for moving air around and a big ol green healing crystal 'borrowed' from the CoT for the med bay to deal with issues of hygiene and spread of infection.

REcycling bins there for use, a trash can for other waste and a small office and photocopier also in place.

My fault! I accidently made the dang robot when the base first opened. I was just trying to see what it would look like the other day when I fell thru the floor of the base and got into a loop which of course crashed me. When I got back the Robot was stuck in the middle of the room and I could not delete it. If you could delete it, that would be great.

I have contributed the 100K prestige it cost to install it in the base. I'll work on the 300K it takes to get a bigger generator. Again, sorry about that.

On the other hand, the base does look more 'lived in' now. The problem is, my job forces me to look for minor details that might be wrong, and gads I just can't shake that when I get home at night or day, depending when I am working.

So I notice little things like where are the dust bins, power outlets, phones, etc. The X-rays made a nice touch in the Med suite.

Doh, forgot you needed that. I kinda assumed since price was same for both that most people went ahead and got it since its a one time payment of game. But Fire is right.

fire, do whatever you want with the base. you're doing great with it and it looks awesome.

i saw that robot yesterday and it kinda confuzzled me. i want to see a bunch of johnny 5s running around defending the base, or maybe those little alien robots from batteries not included. they would be kick ass to have around fixing things.

question now, when you first enter the base and it says 'add personal item' what exactly could you add?

Now that i've finally had a chance to finally view the base, i really enjoy the new layout. It is especially ingenious of Firespray to put chairs right in the med bay, so we can just sit back and see how many times a certain blaster uses the hospital in a half-hour.

in other news (sorry for hi-jacking, sue me) :D

After a full week of no intenet (net go BOOM, ty Mr. Thunderstorm), i'm finally back. yes, missed the xp weekend, missed all the lvling, missed all the posts, missed the surprise about the 20k prestige for all....

So, anyways:

1: gratz to thejeni for lvl 50.

2: gratz to everyone who hit 30 and up.

3: gratz for Razor for getting up to 37.

one question though: i miss a full week, the double xp/inf/prestige weekend, and yet i STILL have around a 60k lead in the prestige? j/k :D

Cool. Even more little detail changes to the base. Time to make another visit.

You have done a great job with the base Firespray. All the little details really give it character. Keep up the good work.

And Big; I have wondered about that "Add Personal Item" pop-up screen when you first enter the base as well. I haven't been able to figure out what it is for. If anyone could provide enlightenment that would be great.

basically the add personal items are if you go an use your salvage to create tech material or tech power then you can place an item that you create in the base, say a teleporter, mission computer robotic fabricator etc.

These are your items and are a part of the base.

Reason that I tend to err on the side of caution and say let me do the building, is coz I'd rather us not have 3 mission computers, 14 teleporters, etc etc. It's always been easier to allow one or mebbe two people to build and stock the base with goodies.

Also means that unless I have a really bad day the base wont be changing much again, well till we get likte 2mill prestige and I get an even bigger floor template :o)

I'm waiting for the walk in wardrobes so i can store my many costumes hehehe

I believe it refers to anything you have created from your salvage such as a telepad, or base defense item. These should be placed with caution becuase, as Firespray has mentioned, placing these items costs prestige and they can draw on the base power/control.
