Female characters

Hey, I´m new to the WoW section of gameamp (Sometimes I posted in the GW section). I buyed WoW today, and I browsed through the WoW section and I was suprised that guys who play female characters are considered "homocreepazoid" (Lol: http://worldofwarcraft.gameamp.com/article...rticle/553.php)

Now you should know that I am male, and that I almost always play a female character. I don't hide it from anyone that I'm male who plays a female character. I don't do it for free stuff, I just like to see nice female characters running instead of dumb male warriors. Also, I find it exciting to play a UBER female hero! ;P

So... My question is: Do the players of WoW abuse "Female" characters?

1st off welcome this neck of woods, Silverblade Paladin!

I don't know about the WoW players (haven't quite started playing yet), but I know that all of the MMOs I've played, I've had to deal w/ a bit of harassing. I do play female characters now (I didn't with my 1st MMO), and I've gotten used to the pestering. There is just one that gets on my nerves more than any other, "Are you a real girl". Grrrrrrr that one just gets to me.

I'm hoping it won't be to much of an issue in Wow though.

homocreepazoid....lmao xD I have such a lame sense of humor... xD

Well back to the topic. :P
I play on the Horde side where the females are just as ugly as male characters so there you don't get mocked for creating a female character. But there's one thing that I've noticed and I thought I'd tell you about it: Night elf females don't get that much love (nor do any night elves over at the horde side. :P). Even though you say that you don't roll female chars for those cheesy purposes, many donkeys in-game think you do. There's some elitisits in game that just won't listen to you, no matter how hard you tell them something.

So my advice is: if you want to stand out, don't roll a night elf, especially if you play on a PvP server. :P

But generally, if you're not one of those cheesy donkeys who roll female chars just to get free stuff, then I don't see no problem in it. O.o

RE: Female characters

About half of my characters are male and the other half are female, and most of them are human. I have never been harrassed by anyone because of the gender of my character, and besides... would you rather watch the backside of a male or female character all day long?

RE: Female characters

I play a bit of each. In City of Heroes, my level 50 blaster is female, and I got hit on quite a bit as I went up the ladder. In WoW, my main is a male gnome warlock, he looks old and silly... and I still get hit on! Just the other night, some young girl player (I think???) started sending me tells... I won't go into the details, just thank goodness for /ingore. By my way of thinking, you will never be safe from it, just learn to /ignore it.

RE: Female characters

ok, so I am an actual girl who plays warcraft, and I've always been really curious as to how many of the girl characters out there are actually girls?

I can see why you would want to role a female thou, clothes look better and such. Plus people tend to be nicer to you.

1st off Welcome to the site!

Well I pretty much only play females now, and I'm an actual female. I try not to think about how many are actually females. I've gotten pretty good at determining who is female though, if I get a chance to talk to them for a bit.

RE: Female characters

I think if u gonna look for real females between all the female characters you see walking, you will get dissapointed. About 80% of those female characters are controlled by men.

Now i gotta agree with something that Jeni said when they ask you "Are you a real girl?". That is irritating indeed, but we all got that to thank to guys who play with girl characters. Not that i think it's bad but it makes other people wonder about it.

I have been playing MMO's now for a while and being a female has a bit of a down side, most of the guys still believe that female gamers are a joke and true that you don't have to count on much friendly actions.

RE: Female characters

Im a woman, hear my roar...oh wait wrong place...
anyway, I was in this guild once, before teamspeak and ventrillo really became big on Warcraft. I was in this guild with guys and "girls". My guild leader was a "girl" I was convinced of it...For the longest time I thought...no...Im not the only girl...oooo yes, yes I was the only REALLIFE genetic female. LMAO! Guildleader was gay though, so I dunno if you want to get all wierd about him, but the rest of the guys were hardcore roleplaying girls. They talked about their real life, but never thought to tell me, and I never asked, if they were GUYS! ...could be why we talked about my boobs a lot....hrm...

Anyway now with teamspeak an ventrillo you can tell in like two seconds whos who so ya know.

And...My hordies are guys, I think tauren females look stupid, and orc females. I do play a troll female though. But the other females, ick! My warrior is a nelf female and my boyfriend plays her and she gets hit on ALL the time its SOOOOO funny. He is like EEWWW! IM A BOY! LMAO! But you are right they do get a LOT of help in quests....Dru does to, I think people feel sorry for gnomes cause we are short...I dont know if it has so much to do with me being a girl...

Anyway laters
Drus

I guess what gets me is the only time I get asked is in games. Anywhere else online, most people know I'm female after having a conversation w/ me. It is just in games people still find it hard to believe that females play.

Of course I've gotten to the point where I say things like "Everyone knows real girls don't play games", that usually gets them to drop it.

If you are one who uses those for gaming. I learned when I was playing DDO that I'm not capable of using a voice program in game. It is just to distracting for me.

RE: Female characters

hmmm time for my input, I don't really see anything wrong with a guy playing a female character...it doesn't make them gay or anything of the sort...in all honesty your sexual preference is the last thing that should matter while playing a game lol...but I must say that I personally would rather all the female characters to play female characters and guys to play guys damn it lol....it just gets so confusing sometimes...but it is quite funny to know a guy is playing a female character and to mess with them sometimes lol. My old guild leader played a female and I used to drive him nuts.

RE: Female characters

Isn't that sexist? To think lower of female gamers??

Anyways, me personnaly, I don't think their is anything wrong with Females playing video games, hey, it's their choice to play, nothing wrong with it at all! I also don't have a problem with Guys playing Girl toons either, I just don't like playing them, personnaly, thats the beauty of character creation, you can do whatever you want! Myself, I play guy toons, cause...I'm a guy! lol Also, someone said they would rather stair at some chick's @** rather than some guy's. But, I'm not looking at his butt, I am looking at the game and stuff!! Also, I am Bi-sexual, yeah strange.... so I don't mind. haha

RE: Female characters

Well, on the 1 female character I've made(or at least, made and played past 10), only 1 or 2 people actually asked something along those lines. And besides, there's always the /ignore if you can't filter it out in your head... :p

didnt cross my mind either until I was the ONLY girl in my guild...after months of thinking some of these men were women....but again a few were living their lives as women and a few were gay and a few were just RP females...so, what can ya do. They were good at fooling me!

On an RP server I guess you cant say anything...people arent supposed to be who they are in RL...its part of the draw to that server, right?
