little bro makes BIG mistake - any help?

hey all. ive been playin GW for nearly a yr now. over that time, my lil bro has watched me play, and has always been facinated. About 2 months ago he bought Factions and has been loving it. He enjoyed it so much, he bought Prophecies. Unfortunately, he was so anxious to play, that he created a second account and thought he could merge them, instead of adding the access key to his current account like he was supposed to. He is now VERY upset and we are at a loss of what to do. Is there any advice or help anyone can give us? Thanks.

It is extremely unlikely, but contact GW Support with teh issue. There is relaly nothing as a community we can do. It has been said that they will not merge accounts, but I have heard once or twice of it happening. So you should contact support and explain to them in detail, what happened.

As far as i know u cant merge accounts, and I also think ur not allowed to run to GW accounts on 1 computer at the same time, but if you have 2 computers, u can put 1 on each, i think thats really the only way.

It is only when you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

Contact support and get them to unregister the serial from the second account. then re-register it on current one.

i actually have no sympathy. it says right in the GW FAQ on the site, once u make two separate accounts, u can not merge them. If ignorance is bliss, he must be ecstatic

i kno that. i got on him pretty badly for doing it w/o waiting for help from me. but then i felt sorry for him, because i realized that he spent all of his money to get prophecies. he was so excited to get it because he saw me playing it and thought it would be cool. now he is berating himself, saying how stupid he is, etc... that's not good for a young kid who already has an uncontrolable medical weight problem (he's the black sheep, all the rest of my family is skinny).

you dont have to feel sorry for him because you can't and wouldn't do anything to help. but i do because he's my bro and because he already has enough troubles, w/o now thinking he's a complete idiot. and im doing everything i can to help him.

and i THANK everyone else for their support and suggestions. i hope we can salvage this situation.

no worries, as you can tell the majority of everyone was trying to help. i've wondered myself if two seperate accounts can be merged and salvaged incase of something like this. let us know if you get it sorted, i'm sure you will, might take a few days, but anet are pretty good at these things.

just email them pics of the cd case/ box cover with the registration code and explaination to prove the two accounts are his.

Not really, GMs don't bother with that sort of thing.
They'll need to escalate your ticket a couple of times until it reaches a senior of some sort, they're probably the only ones that could make such a decision.

I highly doubt they'll ever do it... but if it really has been done before, perhaps it might just depend on errrr... the weather on the other side of the office window or something.

It might be possible, but I doubt it.

It's a mistake of course, but I believe once you make the account serperate there isn't anyway to merge it. It really wouldn't heart posting a question on Plaync or something and see what sort of feedback you get.

But like I said, It's doubtful. Good luck with fixing the problem. <3

One in my previous guild did this mistake to. He asked Support and they said that they would merge the account. But then all his chars will be deleted and yeah, I think you get the rest. But don't say that they don't will do it, because I know that they will do it in some cases.

I guess you could try and sell that account to someone and buy a new one? Might be able to get some of the money of at least, then put that towards getting a new copy to add to his old one. Unfortunately Anet were quite specific when they said you can't merge after creation.

Good luck - incidentally the same thing happened to me and my brother when he bought Half Life 2. Pah.
