Inmates Ambassador Contest

Calling All Ampers

Lord Recluse has stated that the Inmates of Gameamp Asylum reign of chaos must be contained, as such his Arbiters are making a number of demands on us, or he will have the Crey detain us all for experimentation. Since we the Staff have no desire to be experimented on we're asking for volunteers, to fulfill the assignment for us. The assignment is to send a representative to the Praetorian Earth, to seek an alliance with them. However only the most fit candidate will be selected for this highly important mission.

In order to select the best candidate:

-the candidate must provide a screen shot of their proposal for the official Inmate uniform. We have went way to long without an official uniform, and quite frankly the Praetorians are expecting an official uniform of some sort, or they won't take us seriously. Please be creative here.

-the candidate must also provide his/ her background(Bio), in order to select the best envoy. We ask that you include your name, origin, AT & power sets followed by your origin story. The story can funny,scary, or whatever, but it most be original and also make some sense with your villain.

Submissions must be sent to the staff by 9/1/2006, from there we will select the top 3 submissions and pick the best candidate to be our Ambassador to the Praetorians. This may take a week or so. We ask that you be patient with us as this is a very important job to fill and all of our necks are on the line here.

The Prizes will go as follows:

Grand Prize- Besides being selected for this highly important mission, the winner will receive 75 points of credibility and a tee-shirt of your choice from the official Gameamp shop, and obviously the uniform will become the new official costume of the Inmates.

Second Place will get you 50 points of credibility

Third Place- 25 points of credibility.

Contest Rules

Only One submission will be accepted from each member so be careful what you submit only the first entry will be accepted.

Each screen shot must have your Bio open and readable to do this you must type the command /screenshotui 1 before taking your shot please remember to close all chat windows before taking your shot.

In the comments box of your submission please list the colors and the names of all costume pieces used to make your official uniform.

All submissions must be made by screen shot submission through the Inmates Ambassador Contest Gallery

Any entries that do not have the required information will be disqualified and the submitter will be notified by staff

PS. Please let us know your next of kin, just in case the mission doesn't go well.

We will not be approving the submissions until the contest is closed. So, for the time being, I've put a great piece of Fan Art by DeathFetish in the gallery so that you can all see who's behind this whole mess. ;)

As an additional incentive, I will personally give 500,000 Infamy to the winner, IF you have a toon on Triumph. (That's because I only really PLAY on Triumph and that's where I have money) This prize isn't really a part of the contest, just an extra added bonus for our Triumph brothers and sisters.

WHOAA!! The boss has spoken! If I was eligible, this would give me the incentive to come up with something really, really, really, really, really OUTSTANDING! Think about it, a low level toon with this type of Infamy...can you say "first round of SOs on the Da Boss!"

A very, very cool contest!

But I just have a few questions. Can I create any toon any where, or does she have to be member of the inmates? Since she will be the ambassador of the inmates, I assume she will have to be on Triumph, right? Oh, and can I submit (and win) or is it closed to all staff?

Staffers can, and are encouraged to, submit entries to the contest, however, they are NOT elidgible for prizes. (Sorry kids!)

ADDENDUM: ONLY CoV STAFFERS ARE INELIDGIBLE FOR PRIZES, OTHER SITE STAFFERS CAN ENTER AND WIN!

The characters do NOT have to be members of the Inmates Supergroup. They also do NOT have to be on the Triumph server. However, in order to receive the secondary prize, it must be given to a character on Triumph (because that's where I have lots of money).

I would like to see these folks BECOME members of the Inmates, if they are on Triumph though. :)

I will be posting an example submission to the Gallery in a few minutes, just so you can all see what we want.

Example Screenshot

That's an example of what we want.

The color numbers can be gotten by starting at 1,1 in the upper-left corner of the color grid (black). As you move right, the numbers increase, as you move down, they increase.

To include the user interface in your shot (the windows) type "/SCREENSHOTUI 1" (without the quotes) in your chat box.

To get rid of your chat box before taking your screenshot, hit C. Hitting C again will bring it back.

To bring up your personal information, click Menu -> Personal Info. Make sure the box is big enough to see your whole bio before taking the screenshot.

When everything looks the way you want it to, hit "Print Screen" on your keyboard. The file will be saved to your C:Program FilesCity of HeroesScreenshots folder.

My brain has been doing overtime on this. Mostly just thinking of a cool background story. But then I started to think what my villain would look like, and I came up with another question. Since this is basically a costume contest. How will we do it for the other two body types? If my uniform contains a mimi skirt, how can/will that be the official uniform for the men and huge dudes?

Just to play devil's advocate here...

Staff are eligible to enter the contest, but not to win the prizes? So we can enter the contest but we can't win? Does that mean that we can enter submissions but they're just for fun and we can't even be the "envoy" to the Praetorians? Or we can be the envoy but we won't recieve the Gameamp credit or free t-shirt. I'm confused here...

You have some time to work things out...jot down all your ideas, that usually makes it easier to formulate clear concepts for me.

Yeah I'm With BishopDon its probalby a good idea to write all your ideas down or even make a couple toons with the various ideas and then choose the best one when your finished and submit it

If you are going to modify it, make sure you don't do anything that makes the costume hard to see. And I would say a screenshot in motion would make it harder to see the whole costume, so I would steer away from those. And there aren't really any other restrictions that I can think of.

Agreeing with Jeni. I'd rather see that the only modifications you make to the screenshot are things like cropping out unnecessary items (like chat boxes and so forth). The contest is for the costume, not for the most dazzling screenshot. So try to keep that in mind.

The best screenshot one could hope for is one that draws the viewers eye in the first place, but keeps them glued there afterwards through use of the costume itself. But, in the end, it all boils down to a matter of opinion, and that is where a little something called 'influence' comes in. Heh, no, I'm just kidding around about the influence thing (or should I have said 'infamy'), but I stand by what was said before.

Its Definitely a good Idea to have a screen shot that catches the eye. But the Costume and Bio are more important than the scenerey. I think Rons offer for the 500,000 infamy if your toon is on Truimph will definitely create alot of competition. Good luck all!

1. What is going to be the key to winning here? Is it mainly the costume? The bio? How much money they give you? Or is it a combination of all three? Or is it something more? Are you judging us on our forum behavior? Well? Are you?! I demand answers! But, not right now. Wait till I ask a few more questions first.

2. What will be happening to the screenshots? Will they eventually be shared with the community and the standard rate of ten cred applied? Or will they spend the rest of eternity locked away in deepest, darkest, and stickiest part of the Gameamp Asylum, locked away never to be see the dark of night again?!

3. Am I being overly dramatic in asking these questions?

4. Will that count against me?

5. Will you get mad if I ask another redundant question? Oops too late.

6. Can you tell us how many people have entered so far and please include members of the staff that have entered?

7. Will we get to eventually betray the Praetorians after they help us in some way? And in doing so can we wipe them from the face of their earth as well? We are villains after all and it's only natural that they'll do the same thing if we don't do it first. Oh, and will the Ambassador get to lead the Strike Force?

8. Will the Ambassador get a special title or promotion if they are in the Group? If so what will it be and be specific?

9. Will the Praetorians be able to read question seven? If so, I suggest the site be coded with special Anti-Praetorian Code for security purposes? I have a few contacts that are fluent in APC Language and would be glad to give The Powers That Be a crash course. It's a very flexible language I hear.

10. Are you ready for me to be done asking question or do I have to write up another one of these tomorrow?
