i was wondering if there will be a fee each month for this game, and how much it would be. it would really suck if it costs money to play.

Of cource it will have a fee in my opininon i have never show an rpg with this kind off graphics that you can play for free... there is some games you dont pay like runescape but at all these free game the graphics are terible...
the only thing i can wish at this game is that the fee will not be very expensive and they will use some of the money to make new quests new monster or even new skills during the year we will play it.....

Yes there is going to be a monthly fee for LOTRO. They haven't announced how much it is going to be yet. If it is like the other pay to play games it will be around $15. But no official word on price yet.

This is a valid question, because Guild Wars has no monthly fee and the graphics in that particular game are superb.
However, Turbine has been rather tight lipped about the whole topic of what they will charge, but it is fairly safe to assume that fifteen dollars would be the going monthly rate. I'd still be willing to go a tad higher if they so choose. Twenty would have to be my limit though.

I don't mind a monthly fee, after all developement costs money as well as updating quests, graphics etc. As long as it is not above say 20 US per month would be fine by me.

Guild Wars was a run-away success BECAUSE there was no P2P system (pay 2 play). It was hardly known but because of that catch became very popular. I think LOTRO has enough fame backing it up to allow them to have the same system, because so many people will jump on the bandwagon. I would guesstimate around 4-500k people will jump on initially then grow to 4Mil after all the bugs are worked out. If Turbine is smart, they will bank on multiple add-ons that make people want to come back for more, over monthly fees. I also know that all my characters which I haven't played in over a year, are still saved by Blizzard on WoW. I hope Turbine keeps that kind of format as well. I would hate to have to start over every time I feel like revisiting their world. My 2˘
P.S. this game is being talked about on all the major MMORPGS already so I am sure other worlds will see a drop in popularity, IF they play it smart (hint hint).

I personally don't mind the monthly fee at all...it's going to be funding the creation of Rohan, Gondor, etc.

Either way really - but i also think this will be big. :-)
Whichever way they do it one thing for sure I'll be there. The thing about add ons though is that you end up with half the community without certain powers/abilities, monthly is an even playing field- i.e everyone has the same access.
No flame intended bro - just my 2 cents, however if they do go for monthly would be nice to see them give a decent subscription length with game purchase. What I mean is a free month is to small for a lot of people, especially when they are buying the game as well.
guess we will all have to wait an see what the turbine fairy brings

You now GW (guildwars) Rules over all other ONLINE GAMES. But i am still looking for a new game to play, and i think that LOTR online would be a good idea, but if this game has a fee then i can just cheak this game off under the no game for u list..... :S

There will be a fee that you have to pay.
I'm going to guess around $15 a month.
There is a long way to go still so it can be anything.

There are tales they will ask for your First Born. If you fail to agree to that contract, they have a Sibling Waiver. So my guess is stock up on brothers and sisters...

Man, if only it was that easy to get rid of my sister *grin*
Of course, they would probably return her, begging me to take her back.
