I don't like this either, but I dunno... at least it should bring in some good cash for Anet, it's obvious that people are willing to spend real money to improve their GW experience(as I stare at the illicit GW Gold ads above this).

Anet/ncsoft lowering to the thinking lvl of the average guild wars player, again same as the whole factions idea... cheap way to make money and unlocking skills is for noobs and newbs.. exp players will have most skills unlocked..

Great. Anet is crossing over to the dark side. First with character slots, and now PvP skills! Whats next...i thought guild wars was a great game since u wouldnt have to pay anything like most MMORPG, but now they're doing this. This is pretty much like cheating to be able to get all this stuff by paying. Well, theres not much we can do to stop it...

yes i hate this new thing aswell.
i worked really hard on getting all prohicies skills and managed to get them all 1 week b4 factions realease and now this? Now were gona have the rich noobs going around saying i have all skills blah blah. Worst decesion that arenet have made.

They can't only survive on our love of the game and developer. They are not getting money from monthly fee's and they need to maintain all of their servers+crew+upcoming game. Developing new games take's alot of money now a day's. I don't approve it but i don't deny it.

My guild leader is extremely unhappy with this... and I quote
"All the hours I've spent on unlocking skills -.-...this is a dark day"
Hmm, doesn't personally bother me to be honest. I wont need to unlock all the skills since I have done alot through PVE. Are other people really mad about it?

Why are you outraged? They aren't forcing you to buy this. Which would you rather have? The choice to buy stuff like this or be forced to pay a subscription fee?

Its not that we want to buy it. its just that all the people that worked for those skills (inculding me) feel a bit ripped off that people can now buy them in packs. Even if i didnt have them skills i wudnt buy the pack...

I just had a scary thought. If Anet is doing that for skills, then whats going to stop them from doing the same thing for unlocking all weapon and rune mods for PvP?
I like doing things the old fashion way, earning my skills by either unlocking them through story progress or buying them through skill traders. I havent even started creating a PvP char and i think this is a real disadvatage if i decide to create a PvP char and go up againest someone who decided to purchase all skills unlocked while i have some of them unlocked.
I really feel bad for all of you who put in alot of time and effort unlocking skills. If i put in alot of hours to unlock everything then finding out this i feel like anet is slapping me in the face.
This is just my opinion on this.

It seems like everytime Anet releases something new quite alot of people have to go against it.I personally don't mind it since I've unlocked them already and didn't pay for it so I can be proud for that.But anyone who doesn't own prophecies or won't be interested in buying it can now have access to the skills that were available only in pophecies.So it's not necessarily evil.Besides,Anet does have to make money or we can forget about future progressions with other campaigns.Just remember it's entirely optional and it's not going to ruin your gaming experience even though people who have plenty of money to spend can just go out and buy these skills the lazy way.Like Firestorm said,there are alot of ads for gold buying and no one seems to mind that.

I'm happy we're getting more choices... we don't have to use them, which in itself is another choice...
I for one want hundreds of thousands of people to go and buy them... as I'm sure the more money ArenaNet earn this way, the better our gaming experience will be as a whole, due to them having a bigger purse to spend of developing the game.
So a few rich newbs buy all the skills... Will it make them any better? Will it make you any worse? And finally... Will it take away your own sense of achievement if you did it the hard way?
I think No to all.

I really dont understand why people are getting upset about this one........even though someone with money can buy all the skills, anet isnt going to teach them how to use the skills.
Sure someone can buy all the skills, go lookup a build and how to use it. Then they might not be the worst ever with that build, but even when you know how to do something, it usually takes multiple tries before you get it right.
For instance, grawl farming(before the EoE nerf) it was possible and fairly easy. But when I first learned how to do it(even after watching a video on it) it still took me about 10 attempts to perfect it.(to my standards that is)
I see Guildwars as a game that relies on skill, no on what you have. Give someone who knows what their doing a prophecies account with half the skills unlocked and let them fight someone with all the skills unlocked, 9 out of 10 times the person who has played longer and learned how to use different builds is gonna win. Its not a matter of the skills you have, its a matter of if you can use them or not.

Yeah, they should have given us the option to unlock single skills too, that way those who have been playing for awhile, if they so choose, can get the last few skills we need. They coulda done something like 15 cents per skill(about 7/10ths of a cent MORE then buying all skills for 1 profession).
Of course, that calculation was based off the 70+ skills for $10.

Well think about it. It doesn't cost a thing to anet to offer it and if you don't want to buy it you don't have to. It's just a way of slightly increasing profits.

i know just that i really hate all those people in game think there so good coz they buy gold, get FoW armor, iway to r3 and that really annoys me.
When i play games i like to actally earn my way. But you guys do have good points about this new option. Well i suppose i can say my Prohicies skills are worth £23.99 :P and i didnt spend a penny on them^^
and to be honest i feel alot better when i earn my way, hope others do too! :D

Nvm thats gay, i have like every skill from prophecies, if i was ever gonna pay that it'd have to be for Factions skills.. never prophecies. Oh and i was wondering... would this count towards the skill tracker title?

Nope, Skill Tracker only counts for Elites you get VIA a Skill Capture. Besides, the title is per-character not account-wide.

I like to think of it this way; when those noobs who bought all those skills start bragging in ab or pvp or gvg, all you experienced players can go in and pwn their rich heinies. This update just makes pwning noobs that much sweeter imo.
