Ok, I want everyones opinion of unyielding on an Invuln scrapper. It looked pretty good on teh surface, but I have found that I die a lot more when i run it than without. I have my free respec, and am thinking about taking it out, but Im going to test it in a bit and I wanted everyones opinion on it before I take action.

Really? I thought it didn't make you stationary anymore and that you could turn toggles on, didn't look like there were any bad sides to it. Evaluate the situation: why do you die more? Is it mere coincidence, because you run out of endurance, or something else?

I don't have an invul scrapper, but i've got an invul tank, so hey! :) same thing, nearly.
Unyielding is nearly vital to survive. Unyielding is all of your status protections rolled into one. The only downside is "b/c of your proud stance, your def is lowered" or something like that. However, once you grab (assuming you will) Invincibility and Tough Hide, that -def is made up.
If you respec out of unyielding, you'll be open to knockbacks, stuns, holds, immobs, knockdowns, sleep, etc,etc...

There is one downside apart from the end drain: a 5% decrease in defense to everything...

yes, I was wondering about why you were dying? I have a katana/inv. scrapper. I never battle w/out unyielding on. it is for holds/sleep/knockbacks/ect. it's not for any kind of defense of other attacks. but it is a good idea to put some end. reduction on it.

I just put it through it's paces. With it on I died, four times. With it off I lived. simple as that. Why? Couldn't tell you. Don't know. But that's the way it went. Just did a tough mish and tested it thoroughly. I'm assuming the defense debuff is too much for me. dont know. But it definitely is not good for me. I'll try and pick it up later.

Don't get rid of it. If you're dying a lot, it's not because you have it, it's for some other reason.
Do you have dull pain on? You have to have dull pain (it gives you an additional 40% more hit points when it's on) to be a good invuln. What about temp invuln? It's awesome against smashing/lethal.
Invul is a little weak against things that don't have to do with smash/lethal - IF you don't have dull pain on.

That's funky. My 32 tank didn't take it for the longest time and I have all three hold badges to prove it (and a good start of the debt badge). My life has been much more plesent with it on.

On an invuln anything, the highest end costing toggle is actually temp invuln. That said, Unyeilding gives status protection, as well as fairly good resistance to Fire/Cold/Energy/Neg. Energy. Temp Invuln only gives resistance to Smash/Lethal. Invince gives scaled defense and tohit buffs. You basically need Unyeilding in the late game, where elemental and energy type damage becomes much more common, as well as status effects. Also, once you can get tough hide, it will negate the -def of unyeilding even when unslotted. This is by design. Also, on a scrapper, unyeilding's -def is 3.75%, not 5% like tankers get. This is a recent change to the scrapper set. They changed it because of the fact that tough hide's base value is 3.75% on a scrapper. On a tank, tough hide's value is 5%, equal to the -def (5%) on the tank version of unyeilding.
My advice, depending on your level, run unyeilding when you know that you will be facing mezzes or elemental/energy attacks. Otherwise, don't run it. When you have access to tough hide, then you can run it all the time and still come out ahead, even with only one def enhance in TH.
Hope this helps,
Warron

In PvE 5% debuff can easily result in a 10% increased chance to be hit at times.

I never had a scrapper with the INV power set but almost all my tankers do.
What I experienced with more than a dozen of those toons is exactly the same as you... but in reverse. Without it, I die. With it, I don't... and this, without any help from tough hide (wich however do compensate good for Unyielding's drawbacks) or temporary invulnerability (wich I never take up to current level 32; I know, it's the highest defense in terms of numbers... but so much end drain that I lived your exact problem with THAT power on).
The power description's statement about ''your defiant stance...'' is about the fact that you will aggro more(a good thing for a tanker's job).
I never read nor noticed any loss of defensive capabilities while having it on... quite the opposite in fact. I don't dispute what other people on this post have said (many work thoroughly on the game's numbers, wich I don't myself care much about) but that's what I experienced so far, each and every time.
How I wish my brute in CoV could have it right now!

Unyielding is absolutely one of the best powers in teh invul set. Make sure you slot it as least 3 times, I usually do at least 4. That and Temp Invul running at the same time are absolutely a necessity foir the invul tank/scrapper.

This is really weird, because I switched it on and off several tiems. with it on I died, guarenteed. With it off I lived. and its not the first time I noticed it. Thats why I was testing it, because it looked like that to me. And this last mish showed it. My teamates were beggin me to leave it off.

My suggestion is to get combat jumping. Seriously, the only drawback to unyeilding is the -defence. If you get combat jumping, and I'm assuming you wind up getting SJ too (respec it if you have to), and put 3 defensive SOs on it, you cut your -defence to only -1% instead of the -5% you were suffering.
It does sound wierd though, if this keep happening, write the Devs under the support thing of the game as a technical issue.
Oh, and if you do that, tell them to raise the passive resistance powers of invuln too.... they kinda wimpy.
