Resurrection -- www.resguild.com
(A casual guild that raids, not a raiding guild.)

The most important thing about our guild: We’ve been here since day 1, and we will be here for a long time to come. Stop by and hang out with us anytime. We are very organized and active. We know what kind of guild we want, and we know how to make that guild work.

We are casual player friendly. One of our main areas of focus is keeping things reasonable for players who have to hold down jobs, take care of their family, go to school, etc. There is no mandatory raid attendance.

We have a good family environment with a strictly enforced code of conduct and language rules. We are helpful to new players. Most of all we have fun. It’s a video game! The majority of the guild members are working adults that play in the evenings (US East and West Coast ).

Current Guild Event Schedule. Most events start around 7:30pm – 8:00pm server time (CST):

Monday = Zul’Gurub, 5-person groups
Tuesday = Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj (AQ20) / Onyxia
Wednesday = UBRS or LBRS, possibly continue ZG
Thursday = Molten Core & 5-person groups
Friday = Onyxia then Molten Core, also 5-person groups
Saturday = Onyxia, BWL then Molten Core, also a 5-person groups
Sunday = Free play day, possible PvP teams, guild town hall meetings

We started Blackwing Lair in August.

PLEASE NOTE: New members can not immediately join Molten Core and Blackwing Lair raids. We run those dungeons in an alliance with other guilds on our server. You are free to join any of the other guild-only events until your 1-month initiation period is over. ZG, AQ20 and Tuesday Onyxia are guild-only raids you can always attend.

We have a Ventrilo and Team Speak server.

We have been a guild in WoW since the first day of retail release. We are currently a medium-sized alliance guild on the Whisperwind server with approximately 35-45 people online at peak play times, 170 accounts and 470+ characters in the WoW guild.

Wow, it seems like you really have your guild organized well. That's always a good sign.

So when people apply for guild membership, what do you look for in new members? Also I noticed on your site that you hold a lot of guild meetings. Are these mandatory?

RE: (A)Whisperwind, guild recruiting some classes

Hi TheJeni,

Thanks for taking a look at our site and our guild.

The calendar on the site is confusing, sorry. We're not actually using that right now. We use the Guild Event Manager UI Mod in-game to schedule events. Our Tech Officer is working on new code for the site's calendar system. It isn't kept up to date right now. That is why you only saw guild meetings.

There are *no* attendance requirements in our guild for anything. We all like playing together, so we get plenty of support for events. It just happens naturally.

We have a guild meeting every week, but we call it a "Town Hall" meeting. It is pretty informal. Most of the guild gets on Ventrilo and continues doing whatever they want in-game. It ends up being mostly a social get together with an opportunity for officers to update people on plans.

Who do we look for when recruiting? That's a VERY good question! It is one of the most important keys to building a stable guild in my opinion.

We have always kept a tight focus on recruiting a select "target market" of players -- patient, social, long-term players. For the past two years, we really didn't care what level, what gear or what raiding experience a player had. Everyone who sticks with the game will be level 60 at some point. You can teach people raiding, and raiding gets them gear :-). What you can't fix are people who are not social or patient MMORPG players. You just are or you aren't that way. The ones that are not that way get bored or irritated with the game and end up causing drama for their guilds at some point.

We know up front that we are *not* looking for players who want to raid every day, progress fast through instances and basically "beat the game." We are *not* looking for people who will be unhappy if they don't get into every raid. We tell people that up front when they ask about joining. They just aren't going to be happy and fit in.

We ask a lot of open ended questions like:
1. What did you like about prior guilds you were in?
2. Why would you want to be in our guild? What do you expect from it?
3. What do you enjoy about the game?

You can tell a lot about people when you ask question like that.

We are also VERY clear about keeping a positive, fun environment. That is why we are strict about language in the guild. All the "leet speak" junk, yo-momma jokes, crude humor, and tearing each other down calling people "noobs" may be entertaining in a way at times. At its core, that environment is not a team-building one. It is all very negative and anti-social.

One of the biggest draws is that environment. We get lots of stable, more social female players and fewer unstable, young, male, teen players. We end up with a lot of couples in the guild. Those tend to be highly stable members of over a long period of time. We also get lots of family and co-workers of guild members. It all adds up to an organized and stable organization. I am being open and frank about player demographics here, but these broad-brush stereotypes tend to generally be true.

So that's what we look for. We've been very patient about slowly finding these people until it really acquired a "critical mass" as I call it -- where word of mouth gets around and people remember the guild name as being a good guild to be in.

this part confused me when you say 5+ year old guild what do you mean? Like the guild has been up and running for 5 years (not possible unless the guild started in another game) or you have ppl who are 5 year of age and older? explain..

They started in Dark Age of Camelot. And as a guild migrated over to WoW. So the guild, and the core members have been together through 2 games now.
