I have posted some previous forums to try to get guild wars to work on my computer but evrything ppl have told me hasnt worked. I am starting to get frustrated and im just about ready to give up all together. Whenever im playing guild wars it either freezes and i have to turn the computer off or it brings up the error display driver stopped responding. I have the windows program that is supposed to update my drivers automatically but im not sure if there are other things i should try. i would really aprecciate some help because i do not know very much about computers and really want to be able to play GW.

welcome to gameamp...
i have this same problem on my laptop. its your video card. it doesnt have the minimum requirements to play guildwars... the best option to do is upgrade your video card buy buying a new one...
hope this clarifies your problem and sorry to hear about it

Oh ty for the info, but man thats very disapointing. i thought for sure that the Radeon 9200 was good enough. is there any video card that you reccomend for me to get and is it possible that there is a different problem other than the video card

Grr , I have this same problem. Mine dosnet freeze it just restarts itself and comes up with a video error.
I took the back case off and cleaned the fan and somtimes the fan gets to hot. So i left the back up for some time and i intend to stick a fan at the back.
Its solved my problem for now but its irritating.
I can suggest that or a new video card x[

I'm not much of a techy person, but guide has a lot of things you can try to get it working. It also has easy step by step instructions on what to try. I would suggest trying a few things from it.

It should be able to handle it. I used to have a Radeon 9250 PRO (256MB) and it ran fine, somewhat low graphic settings but it was definantly playable.

To see if you truely are having troubles with you video card. Take the case cover off and put a fan right against the computer case. If you don't experience problems, then your card is overheating. Same thing happened to my video card, it overheated and the fan "kinda" melted off. Putting my box fan right against the case worked. I think it melted off because of dust in my computer. The dust got on the video card fan, and slowed it down, then eventually stopped it. With it not moving, it melted off. Luckily, my warrently was still good. Hope you can get back on GW soon =)

Firstly do you have AGP,PCI,or PCI-E?Once you find out,I'm sure that the community can recommend some cards. If you have AGP you could try 9600 it's not high end but it can handle Guild Wars pretty well and affordable too.

The Radeon 9200 does in fact work with playing Guild Wars.
I have one installed on a secondary PC I have which I occationally let my son use. However, you NEED the right drivers to make it work. The latest default drivers will NOT work for this card. You need the driver set specifically for this card.
Cruise to ATI's Website, click on "Drivers and Software" button up top, Select your "Operating System". Then in the "Not Supported" section, Click on the card you own.
Download and install your CORRECT drivers.
Turn down your display settings in the game some and ENJOY!

I have a radeon 9200 128mb AGP - used to be in my old pentium 2 computer -
I use this graphics card to play guild wars on highest graphics settings with no troubles.
I originally had recieved a Ge force 6800 as a gift but it was rejected by my lame motherboard bios (ran hot too),
so my G/F now has the uber graphics in her "E-machine. :|
