I just read the Bonus Pack info for NightFall and it talks about a sycth thats made from the same traditonal material found in Elion(what ever the new contenit is) that a crystalline sword is.
So wouldn't it be really funny that Crystaline swords when nightfall comes out turns out to be super common. Because from the sounds of it theres a part of the land where they make tons of Crytaline junk. I think it would be really funny to see the face the people that payed over 2 billion in gold to get one of these swords.

When I first started playing guildwars I bought few weapons but as I became more experience with the game, I start to farm for them :D
If i can't farm them, then it is not for me. If the sword becomes common at the new area OH BOY!! I'll be laughing hard to those people who actually pay that much coins for the item *eViL LauGh*

I have followed the pricing on Crystalline swords very closely over the last year and i have never heard of a 2 billion gold Crystalline....
I paid out 28 million for my req 9 15^50% Crystalline and to my knowldge the most expensive Crystalline ever sold was a req 8 15^50% on Guru in June 2005 and it sold for 95 million.....
It hurts my ego to think that someone somewhere is paying out in excess of a billion gold for something........
I have never been able to accrue over 120 million =(
Personally I would be pretty pissed if indeed what you predicted did come to pass....
But I HIGHLY doubt it because the Crystalline Sword is THE Ultimate item in the game, and the weapons in GW are not really that great as far as the stats go, the only real determining factor in value is the look (skin) of the weapon......
Every game needs ALMOST unobtainable items for the more serious players to hunt down, so , while I agree your idea would make noobies laugh and rich people cry.....
I seriously doubt it will ever happen =)

hmm dont think theyll be common, like evenhands said every online game needs at least 1 όber item.
one a side note, evenhands your joking right? how on earth is anyone able to make 120 mil in gw?

hahahaha, ill be laughing soo hard if crystallines are common in Elonia ... simply because I think its kind of pointless to spend that much money on a sword. :) thats just my opinion though

This is the question everyone asks.
how do you make lotsa money in Guild Wars....
The answer is pay attention to the economy....
Learn the values of items, on the high and low end...
Then buy stuff and sell it at a markup...
For instance, I made more than 500 ectos buying bone dragons for 100k + 20-25 ectos and then selling them for 100k +45-50......
This is just one example, but ANYTIME I go to lions arch or k-center i see someone selling something for less than it is worth, that is my que to buy.
The trick is to be a patient buyer and a patient seller. i could talk about this forever, but the truth is you just have to start spending a day at Lions Arch or K-center once in awhile....
Look at the prices people with asian names sell stuff for, then look at the prices everyone else charges. Assume that you can get nearly what the Asian-named peeps are asking if you are patient and then start buying them from the american who are selling them for 10-20 ectos less.....
I won;t even bother with a purchase if I am not certain I will make at least 10 ectos, it is not worth the effort....
I know there is a huge difference between 10 ectos and 500 ectos and 100 million gold, but over time, just with one or 2 sales a day (and prolly like 10 on Friday night) you will find that 10 million g is not THAT lofty a goal. 3-4 weeks is more than enuff time even if you are only selling and buying for a few hours a day.
A hundred million obviously takes a little longer..........
You can farm in FOW, UW, DKNP and other places solo to raise your income by a little or a lot...
But if you want the BIG money, you will have to buy and sell......

i think crystalline look sweet but im pretty poor not uber poor so i just went in pre and did the quest that gives the long sword that looks exactly like crystalline it may not be powerful but it looks kool and isnt that wat matters XD.

That's great for you, but some people have full time jobs, own homes, etc. I only get 0-3 hours per day to play (if that, sometimes I'm too busy to play for a week or more), and there's no way I'm spending that time hanging around town watching trade spam. I'd rather be poor spend my time playing. You guys can have your 95 million gold items! =P
Remember that ANet occasionally does things to level the economic playing field. People shouldn't be penalized or put at a severe disadvantage because they can't spend every waking hour of their lives playing.

I certainly don;t spendevery waking moment of my life playing, I have a fulltime job and a part time job and a grilfriend and elderly grandparents that require my attention...
Thats not the point, the point is if you wanna make lots of money, you have to do it by buying and selling.
and as far as people not being penalized for not playing alot, I don;t really think that makes any sense....
I feel like it is more unfair to take an item that was worth 28 million gold and render it worthless...
OG COURSE the people who are able to master the economy should have more and better gear than those who don't.
and if you are not playing that often and can't afford to spenda little time in trade, I suggest you try to be happy with Greens or collectors stuff ....
Not trying to be mean..
I just think fair is fair, in order to be fair, you have to be fair to everyone, not just the people in similar situations to yourself.

Oh, no. You completely misunderstood my point. I was just saying that the game is designed in such a way that it isn't necessary to spend a lot of time trying to get rich. For some people playing the economics game is fun, and for some people it's not. Personally, I couldn't care less about having a sword with a rare skin...the equipment my level 20 characters use is all max-stats, and I spent very little time getting it. I do have some rare items that I farmed myself, and I'll probably hold onto them. That's fine with me - I prefer to spend my time playing and trying to come up with new builds. Hanging around and spamming trade chat drives me crazy! I find myself looking at the clock and itching to hit FoW, UW, Tombs, etc.
All I'm saying is that to each his own. I don't think it's right to render super-rare items worthless either, because some people have their fun by trying to make money. However, people that whine and threaten to quit the game because ANet makes some small change (like the Tombs greens or ecto drops) to the economy are ridiculous. You know, people that start screaming that "the economy is ruined" every time ANet makes an adjustment...;)
I've spent plenty of time playing since the game was released over a year ago, but I don't spend much of my limited time buying and selling. As long as people with tons of time to farm, buy, and sell don't have a stats advantage over people with a bit less time it doesn't bother me at all.

Games need people that play alot
games need people that play little.
its the circle of life.
With out it players who players would be poor.
it would take to long to find secrets. then those secrets would never be told and they would be uber rich and people would slowly get bored of being poor or constantly making 100k in an hour(just saying) and a game would end. So the nexdt time u call some1 wit no life u could be talking to some1 who held this game together.
PS: people who play alot also can be nice and help out by allowing new players pay a little less or pay little by little since they're rich.

I never got it anyway... Why spend 20-100+K on an item when you can have just as good an item for 2-5k on guru or whereever?
Probably just like a ferrari.... If you can afford it, you buy one, but everything with a pricetag comes at a price (like farming or trading like foreever... )
Not for me, I'm totally happy with my Yakslapper and green mesmer dom. staff...
If someone can explain to me WHY they want FOW armor? Except for it looks better and I can afford it ? Is there more ?

I really dont like Fow anything, lack of color, dull, and boring. But everhands is correct just like our world if you want to make the big bucks you need to have or or both of the following.
A.) You get an incredibly lucky break.
B.) Or you play the econamy game.
For example If I were you people I'd start stocking up on elionian leather squares while thier cheap, because from the sounds of it weapons, and armor are going to need Eloian leather squares when nightfall comes out.
So buy cheap sell high, I do that with some things. Like my green weapon "fakes". It wasn't a scam I said that it was the same or as close as I could get the weapon to its green counter part. I dyed the weapons, added mods that I bought for cheap, collector weapons. And the best part is when you added a mod they couldn't salave it and sell it back. I made around 10-15k doing this, depending on how I played my cards.
