9/11 - The Day of Terror

We all know it has been 5 years since this dreaded occurence. I would like to remind everyone to pay there respects and remember those who lost their lives.

* American Airlines Flight 11, a Boeing 767-223[3], wide-body aircraft crashed into the north side of the North Tower of the World Trade Center (WTC) at 8:46:30 a.m. local time (which was Eastern Daylight Time, or 12:46:30 UTC).
* United Airlines Flight 175, a Boeing 767-222[4], crashed into the South Tower at 9:02:59 a.m. local time (13:02:59 UTC), an event covered live by television broadcasters from around the world who had their cameras trained on the buildings after the earlier crash.
* American Airlines Flight 77, a Boeing 757-223[5], crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37:46 a.m. local time (13:37:46 UTC).
* United Airlines Flight 93, a Boeing 757-222[6], crashed in a field in southwest Pennsylvania just outside of Shanksville, about 150 miles (240 km) northwest of Washington, D.C., at 10:03:11 a.m. local time (14:03:11 UTC), with parts and debris found up to eight miles away. The crash in Pennsylvania is believed to have resulted from the hijackers either deliberately crashing the aircraft or losing control of it as they fought with the passengers.

Source : Wiki

The passengers of Flight , Possibly saved thousands more lives. Though they lost their lives. They saved a larger number. R.I.P

"No one onboard any of the hijacked aircraft survived."

"2,973 died and another 24
remain listed as missing."

Please remember the silence, and respect it, for those who lost their lives.

Thank you for the poignant and important reminder. No matter who we are or where we were, we all remember that tragic event. I hope all of us remember not only the victims, but the survivors as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of them.

God bless America!

I remember sitting outside the Driver's License building waiting for my last test to get my license. We had the radio on and heard about the first plane and the speculation it was a major accident. Then the second plane hit.

RE: 9/11 - The Day of Terror

i don't really know what to think about it, i saw a documentary called 'loose change' (look it up on google or youtube, it's amazing) and it's got me confused right now. but yeah, RIP to all.

we watched a clip today in my 5th hour class, it was showing a guy who was playing with his kids, saying stuff like "look at mom, she's playing with the camera again!".. then the kids would wave... he was killed on 9/11, just reminds you of how many good people were killed on that day.

there's a good quote that i heard somewhere, it goes something like this:

"bad things happen to good people"

RE: 9/11 - The Day of Terror

dont even get me started on this topic, too many people are abusing the emotion that this has caused...its really pretty sad...kids sending around bullitens on myspace not to go to school, others saying they remember when all those people died(yet they are in no way connected to it and have never showed remorse for those people)... america needs to stand tall and loud on this day, not cower and hide at home silent...dont morn for those who were lost, stand up and be proud of country and speak loud with pride in honor of the passed on... im sorry if this offends anyone, but way to many people are using this to there advantage...i know how it feels for someone to use another persons death to there selfgain...

i also believe all this attention and the TV movies being shown are gonna raise the lvl of racism that is acted upon the middle eastern people, which is in no way there fault, its a group of people doing these acts, not a whole race or nation, its the radicals over there doing this, not our neighbors/co-workers/school mates..

RE: 9/11 - The Day of Terror

I am going to just say RIP to all those who suffered. i was in the Navy when this happened and both my Father and Brother responded to 9/11, the buildings fell as they were going over the GW bridge.

I am disturbed that anyone even brought up that documentry and ask that out of respect you remove references to that politically charged unproven conspiracy theory that does nothing but manipulate information to trivialize the whole event. (this is not a flame but a request please)

I actually wrote about a page in regards to that but decided it would take away from the whole point of this topic.

Remember those who died that day and those who died after to protect our Freedom and NEVER forget that since that day there has not been another terrorist action on our soil.

My condolences to all of those who have suffered from the events of 9/11/01. That goes for not only the direct victims and their families, but also those who have shared in the pain and anguish. I mean this with the deepest sincerity to all those from countries not American. You are gems, and the comfort you have offered and provided is deeply appreciated.

RE: 9/11 - The Day of Terror

I think any American can remember where they were and what they were doing on September 11th, 2001. It will be a day which will never be forgotten in the hearts and minds of everyone that saw it. It was a sad and tragic day not only for America, but for the rest of the civilized world too. Crazy fanatics and radicals sought to disrupt and destroy America's way of life, but they have failed in doing so. Today we stand stonger than ever against terrorist threats and we will continue to get stronger as long as there are those people out there that seek to do us harm. If you ask me, terrorists only make countries stronger and more resolute against them rather than demoralizing and destroying them. So come on terrorists, do your worst....we will stand strong against you and when the day of judgement is at hand, we will all know who will be punished.

RIP to all those who lost their lives on 9/11 and anyone else who has ever died fighting for freedom, justice, and the right way of life. God Bless America and all the other good countries still left in this world.

out of respect, and rememberance, to remember, means not to forget. Sad yes, but to forget is even sadder.

RE: 9/11 - The Day of Terror

say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

RIP to all who died.

Remember those who we lost, but do not dwell on them, they deserve an honoured memory but if we let events like this rule us then those who commit them get what the aim for.

The best thing we can do is continue with our everyday life, so that those souls know that their death did not help the terrorist cause.

RE: 9/11 - The Day of Terror

I can't believe it's been only 5 years. It seems like only yesterday and at the same time, a life time ago that this happened. I was only in 5th grade and I was getting ready to go to lunch when I saw it happen on the news, the teacher would always turn on CNN to see what was happening. She had to force the entire class out the door. While I'm not a very emotional guy, the emptyness and sadness that I feel when I think about 9/11 and then think about how some people just want to pretend it never happened, sometimes I don't now wether to cry, get mad at those who caused , or... I don't know, but the one thing I know I have to do is keep going, cause if you don't, then the terrorists have won.

R.I.P. to all of those who suffered because of acts of terrorism or injustice, and God bless America, our Allies in the war, and all countries that do not stand for terrorism.
