More weirdness in Paragon 

A week and a half ago I saw that strange ship floating over Founders Falls and Talos on Freedom. Then a few nights later found a miniaturized version of the RV "Heavies" hiding out under the skyway roadway system. Now two nights ago whiel my team exited a mission, Gon-edain bumped into a wraught iron gate, and it exploded, juts like on the villanous "Mayhem Missions." I really believe they are leaking things into the game early, to whet our appetites for I8. what weirdness have you seen? Have any of you taken notice of anything around you lately that seems out of place?

We had just exited this mid 30's mish on Champion and I had actually flown away, but he was talking to me and went, "Hhhmm, signs of things to come." I answered "What are you talking about?" Then he told me the gate just exploded as he bumped into it outside the building we were fighting in (Brickstown) Very weird stuff lately...

For the record the mini longbow mechs are temp powers from RV that you get if you have a score of 1000 when the heroes win and the zone resets

The exploding gate thing is "normal".

I had this happen too and then I played around with it a little. In IP, by the trainer, there's a gate that leads to her (next to the hospital). You can push the gate open and closed. If you're superjumping and accidently land JUST RIGHT on the gate, it will shatter/explode. (Might also happen with superspeed)

I ran into the gate several times in Brickstown, its pretty fun to do. Kind of like the pebbles you get to kick around or like the forklifts that can used like soccer balls, at least I use to be able to do that... seems they changed it, or my graphics bite the big one.

I see the Mini Longbow Mechs in AP at different spots, just like today it was under the train... when usually it'll be under Atlas' statue.

I haven't seen any weirdness so, I can't help you in the search of that which we like to see.

Not only does the gate explode in IP, but in Bloody Bay you can knock off/explode the doors of the phonebooths that you use in the "Patrol Bloody Bay" mission.

Let me ask a related question...

Why does it seem that some days in AP you can hardly get to Ms. Liberty for mobs of cowering cvilians? Not just milling about, but actually cowering like they're being attacked. On Freedom the other night, there were 10 women on the front steps of the plaza fighting to get their purses back from invisible assailtants. Why?

I've seen that on Triumph as well. I haven't the foggiest idea why it happens, although I've /bugged it a few times.

Okay from what I understand from reading the DEV's forum at COH this is the problem. Lower level heros run around Hunting to get some Influnece and hopefully some free Enhancements and Inspirations they can use. We've all done it...ITS normal! The problem is after you rescue the "victim" they are designed to do come back up and, in one manner or another, thank you for saving them. Now the explanation for all those citizens at City Hall in Atlas Park. Way to many of the new heroes these days either don't realize this happens (and gives them addition Influence) or don't want to be bothered waiting around for the victim to come back. The way the Devs have set it up once the victim delivers their line they go to the nearest door way, enter and disappear to respawn later for the next hero.

When the hero runs off too quickly and the "victim" can't catch up they are migrating to AP city hall where they stand around aimlessly and even (and I find this hysterical) revert to their program. Which is why you'll see any number of female citizens having a TUG of WAR over their purse with absolutely no one. Apparently the Devs haven't come up with a way to direct these poor lost souls out of the plaza so they just stand around.

It sounds funny and watching six or eight females on the steps leading to where new heores go for mission all playing tug of war with no one is a very comical sight. BUT .. anyone beside me notice the massive increase in LAG around AP's city hall? The hapless victims are a part of the problem. So until the Dev's can find a way to get them home the problem and the lag will continue to exist.

What do you mean by "ship"... a Ship as in the Green Floating Ghost Tanker that drops off ghosts in IP and Talos, the Arachnos Fliers from CoV or like the Rikti Saucer in the Rikti crash zone?

Would have loved to have a seen a screenshot of it, perhaps it has to do with the new Epic ATs due for CoV...

Can the Devs perhaps set a timer on rescued victims that allows them to choose a path to the nearest door if after a short time no Heroes allow them to complete their presets?

Is it possible to allow rescued bots/AI access to other bots/AIs paths?

I don't know the particulars of the CoH game engine but shouldn't there be a way to add bot/AI paths to doors that allow a pre programmed response from a rescued civ to access them {special paths for just this reason) if Heroes are not around to accept the thankyou/gift and complete their programming?, maybe just have them automatically assume they have given their thanks/gifts after a short time and head to the nearest door.

Been a while since I edited maps but from what I recall it should be possible.

Whatever they decide to do will help the lag for trues.

So it's not the just never ending streams of costume contests? Go figure. ;) No wonder I start all my toons in Galaxy anymore. Only head to Atlas when forced by a mission. It's laggy and the vets are usually sniping at the newbs on broacast.

i love how this thread has like 3 different conversations going at the same time.

has anyone else seen the NPS characters get stuck in the fountains? if they cant jump i dont know how they get there in the first place.

Well the constant gathering of players under and around Altas probably doesn't help either. Every time I go through there I have the same thought... "Is anyone actually PLAYING the game or just standing around socializing" LOL

Oh one other place I thought of where LAG is pretty bad is the Green Line Train Station in Steel Canyon. There for some reason the Devs in their infinite wisdom decided to crowd the platform with NPCs. I lag so bad there most of the time that unless I have to I use FLY and enter Talos or Ind Port via the connecting tunnels... unless my last mission has me REALLY close to the Green Line in SC I find it much faster

Agreed. I have the exact same thoughts. What are those people doing there anyway? all they do is costume contests, and argue on broadcast. Thankfully, none of them ever get beyond level 8. I have taken to starting new toons in galaxy myself. Atlas is a pain just going there to pay base rent. Let the newbs and the socialites have it.
