09/13/06 Patch now on Test

Saw this on the boards.

Now Testing in the Training Room - 9/13/06

Known Issues on the Test Server

1. Some base configurations that were valid in Issue 6 are no longer allowed in Issue 7. If your base is invalid, you will be able to delete or move objects to make it fit the new rules.
2. Defeated players are not respawning correctly if they are disconnected while returning to their base.
3. Players can die in a mission and resurrect in their base. If they leave via the base portal they will appear out of the mission door they were last in.
4. When zoning players may lose connection to global chat momentarily.
5. On the hero side there is a bug that can cause players to become stuck in the tutorial. In some cases, a mission NPC may not spawn.

COMBINED NOTES

Mission Dropping Feature

• You will now be able to drop missions that you receive from Contacts. Dropping a mission will carry with it everything that completing the mission successfully does. It will advance story arcs, improve Contact XP, grant special powers, give Mission Complete XP, etc. You will not be able to “replay” the mission you dropped. This is done this way so that you are not stuck on a Story Arc, or are missing a vital Temp Power needed later on in the mission chain, etc.

• In order to drop a mission, you must be the mission owner, and you can talk to the Contact that gave you the mission. If the mission is droppable, an option to drop it will appear.

• There are a few caveats to the Mission Dropping Feature:

You can only drop one mission every 7 days with this feature. If you need to clear a mission, but have already used this feature in the past 7 days, you will need to contact Customer Support as normal.

You can not drop timed missions.
You can not drop missions that are part of a Task or Strike Force.
You can not drop missions that give badges as Mission Completion rewards.
Some other missions are marked as “undroppable”. These are missions that have rewards that are well above average.

• You will not be given the choice at all to drop missions that are undroppable. You will need to contact Customer Support in order to clear these missions.

• Missions that are dropped are logged so we can more easily debug bugged missions.

Powers

• Fixed an issue with Moment of Glory which caused the Icon to blink after the power's Buff period had ended.

• The Gladiator version of the Malta Hercules Titan will no longer combine into a Zeus Titan if two are present.

• Ring of Fire and Fire Cages both have had a -Fly component added.

• The Teleport reticle now displays properly on Teleport powers with range enhancements.

• Pets made up entirely of f/x (like Tornado or Voltaic Sentinel) now display properly.

Tasks

• Lieutenants will now appear in missions for solo players.

• Fixed a bug that allowed some destructible objects in missions to get into a state where they could not be targeted.

City Zones

• Recluse's Victory: Attempting to dismiss a Turret no longer causes it to become inactive.

Game

• Fixed a bug that can make enemies and/or other players invisible to you.

Bases

• Moving stacks of stored items by double clicking no longer causes items to be dropped from stacks and lost.

CITY OF HEROES

Powers

• Kheldian Energy Flight's Endurance cost reduced to match the changes to the Flight power.

• The Tranquilizer Darts temporary power no longer slows the user when activated and properly slows the Devouring Earth.

CITY OF VILLAINS

Powers

• Back Alley Brawler should no longer give debt when defeating players in Recluse's Victory.

• Freedom Corps Nullifiers Sonic Grenades will now properly display a debuff icon when you are affected by them.

• Lowered the sound volume of the Elder Cobra's Poison Beam attack.
Tasks.

• Future of Freedom Strike Force: Freedom Phalanx members on Lord Recluse strike force will once again drop Enhancements, Inspirations, and Salvage.

• Future of Freedom Strike Force: At completion of the Strike Force, you are now given a choice table to pick your reward. You can pick a random Synthetic Hamidon Enhancement or a specific Single Origin Enhancement

Ok...something I don't quite get here.

Is this basically saying that once a week, you can drop a mission and get ALL the rewards for completing it? One would think there would be a penalty for dropping a mission...

I don't get it. I mean, it's GREAT, but I don't understand the logic behind it. I like the idea of being able to drop a mission that's "too tough" for me. (There's a longbow mission on my villain that I can't complete, for example)

Yep, that's the idea. once every 7 days, you can drop a mish. don't feel like killing 10 CoT in perez? DROP IT. Don't want to go talk to Wincott in the hollows? DROP IT. Don't want to face Envoy of Shadows? DROP IT.

Posi talked on the main boards about this.. giving us the power of GM once a week to drop missions and get the rewards. I'm ok with this. not often enough to cause a PL, but if you find a bugged mish, you can drop and move on.

EDIT: patch has been rolled back on test. i don't know why.

• Missions that are dropped are logged so we can more easily debug bugged missions.

Ok this statement seems wrong to me as a reason to drop missions... let me explain...

I have been on bugged missions, I have sent in a bug report, if I leave the mission because of a bug I can do no other missions, if I talk to another contact to change mission these are the responses I get by email...

Once you get a new mission from a contact we cannot assist with the bugged mission.

You must not end the bugged mission or we cannot help you.

You were not logged on so we could not help you.

These are basically the emails I get in return, so I am expected to wait for a GM to maybe assist me, well this doesn't work, I have waited hours in bugged missions, no assistance, I am forced to stop playing, if I switch toons or log off I am told there is no way they can help me...

I have 2 choices either stop playing CoH altogether or give up any hope of assistance with a bugged mission and move on...

This statement is blatently false, according to the emails I get if you end a bugged mission and get a new one before the GMs can assist you, your out of luck...

Seems to me dropping a mission and getting a new one is basically the same thing, how can the GMs debug a mission that has been dropped and replaced with a new one?

I followed these rules, had a mission that was bugged, I didn't end the mission or get a new one, yet I havn't even gotten an email telling me they couldn't fix it, the only emails I have ever gotten have been apologies about how they can't do anything, and its my fault because I didn't do such and such.

I hope this statement means that will change...

RE: 09/13/06 Patch now on Test

One thing that I want to know is does the entire team get the reward or just the owner? What would stop me from joining teams of 8 and passing the star around for 8 quick mission complete bonusees once a week? Sounds like a new way to PL people to me.

RE: 09/13/06 Patch now on Test

If the mish skipping feature is similar to what you can do in Villains (choosing to have your mish complete when you do the same mish for someone else), then only the mish holder will get the xp/reward for skipping the mish.

I would hope that this feature is only used if your mish has been outleveled too much to get any reward. That is the only reason I would skip one. Sometimes you have an old mish that is a bitch to complete solo (finding a boss in the sewers, for example). If a mish is too difficult to finish, go level and try again, or reset the difficulty.

On the comments about using GM support in mish, I have never had to wait more than 10-15 min for help, usually it comes much sooner. Many times what you think is a bugged mish is just your lack of checking every nook and cranny of the map. That has happened to me a couple times, and I felt dumb for having the GM have to come rescue me, but they are always very nice to deal with. I'm not sure what you expect the GM's to do when you aren't in the mish to assist them in finding out what's wrong with it. Use the opportunity to get out of the chair and stretch the legs, grab a snack, say hi to Real Life for a few minutes.

One more thing: YaY!!! They fixed the invisible teammate/enemy bug. That sucked so much. I've even had teammates be invisible outside the door when the mish was over....not cool.
