| Nightfall makes cover story of PC Gamer Magazine! |

I checked my mail today and as soon as I saw the PC Gamer magazine I wanted to do a backflip. Right there, on the cover, was the picture of a dervish and the Nightfall logo. I knew that this was the article where I would find everything (well, almost everything) I wanted to know about Nightfall, plus the access key to the grey giant minipet!
It seems that Arena Net and NC Soft have really made some improvements to Guild Wars overall by incorporating many new ideas and features for Nightfall. It says in the article that ArenaNet will improve the sub-standard level of character speech in Nightfall by hiring professional voices with African accents. However, the accents will not be too thick as to avoid confusion. One disgusting new feature in Nightfall is in one of the regions called "Desolation". (Gee, i wonder why it's called that.) The sulfur pits in Desolation are so lethal, it is impossible to walk through them and live. This is where the new feature comes into play. After completing a quest, you will be able to summon a wurm from the acid pools at special stations. Then, the wurm actually SWALLOWS YOU WHOLE. Once inside, you will be able to steer the wurm and be able to use special skills only available while riding wurms.
On the first page of the article it has all the facts about the two new professions in Nightfall: Paragon and Dervish. Quoted from page 24a: "Dervish fun fact: The idea for the Dervish sprang from brainstorming sessions for Factions. Originally, the character would've been a Kung Fu master in that campaign, but when the profession was cut, it was retooled into the Dervish." "Paragon fun fact: The paragon will be the tallest character in Guild Wars. When Shouting or Chanting buffs in the field, the Paragon's wings will stretch out as he rises into the air, making him even more imposing" Cool!
The major part of the plotline of Nightfall is that while in the first two campaigns there were believed to be 5 gods (Balthazar, Dwayna, Lyssa, Melandru, and Grenth), it is revealed that there is a 6th forgotten god desperate to make its return. It is pretty inferrable by now that the sixth god is evil and hell-bent, destroying anyone who opposes him. And get this. Prophecies and Factions characters will also be feeling the impact of this sixth god through sudden attacks from spirit monsters and other supernatural materializations, Regardless of whether they buy Nightfall or not, because of "the lost god's sinister presence in the world."
Well, now I'm just typing too much and I'm sure you're getting bored so I guess the rest is up to you to read in PC Gamer Issue #154 (November 2006). See you at the Nightfall preview event!
Edit: P.S. For all you PC Gamer subscribers out there, the grey giant minipet code can be used in both the Nightfall preview event and the Nightfall retail release by clicking "Add Access Key" on the log-in screen, and typing in your promotional code. Just remember to keep the code until Nightfall comes out!

you forgot about the minipet that u can only get from an access key from PC Gamer but i'm not sure if there is i just read the "next issue" box in the previous one said there was an exclusive mini pet. but i haven't gotten it yet so wahat do i know :P BTW! this mini pet is called the GRAY GIANT. i hope he can make canned peas like the green giant :D

Oh yea I forgot to tell you one more cool feature. They have added "mini-games" in Nightfall. I am not sure how many there will be,or what they will be called but the magazine briefly described one of them. The idea is to steal and drink as much ale from people as possible in a given amount of time, but the catch is that for every ale you drink, the screen gets blurrier and blurrier until it's almost as if you're drunk and can't see a thing.
One thing I hoped they changed in Nighfall is the removal of skill quests. It's not fair for all the people who struggle to just to make 2k (a.k.a. me, and i'm sure a lot of other people out there)that they have to buy all the skills they want and the price goes up each time they buy a skill. Maybe they'll put back skill quests in Nighfall.

You could probably buy the magazine this month from any magazine/gaming store, and although I don't think the offer expires, you probably want to buy the magazine before next month or it will be taken off the shelves. Since the code for the minipet is an access key, it can only be used once and cannot be shared with friends. :(

Which I guess means a few new quests for both campaigns which is absolutely fantastic, I wonder if these quests will be introduced to Cantha and Tyria prior to the release of Nightfall as a way of introducing the Nightfalls storyline in to the other campaigns (anyone remember the refugee quests in Tyria to introduce Canthan characters?).
I am loving everything I hear about this game, mini-games, puzzles and now these wurms! (earthworm jim ftw!) All the screenshots Ive seen have looked fantastic...Im getting over excited now, /takes a deep breath....

That's one of my biggest irks with Factions. Doesn't promote the expansion of the new classes if you have to buy skills. I hope too, that they go back to the Prophecies method of giving skills for quest rewards.

the original Dune was too long and complex to be successfully adapted to a 2 hour movie, the first attempt was very poor, the second for tv one was better, but both were terriby inadequate to do the book justice

Too many thoughts for this post!
*Throws the sand trout on him and makes the super-still-suit and molds it with some sweet spikes up the spine. Gets his wurm guiding bars out of pack, whips out a thumper and calls up a mount.
*IMPORTANT* In a different thread, it was said that after the preview event accounts will be wiped for the duration of the event, BUT, YOU CAN RE-ENTER THE CODE and get back your minipet. So save the code. (I think the thread was called Gaile Grey, she made a visit yesterday and a very kind Amper left a hearty amount of info. on what was said by Gaile.)
*Never been so excited for a game, puzzles, now I can truely show the world my powers, 2+2 equals...toughy...
-I haven't read the last three dune books, so thanks for getting me the names. And I completely agree, no movie can ever summarize all the content of a book, its been tried and the big wigs that deal with movies won't let it happen, except in Europe. I hear Europe had an eight hour one, start at noon, eat dinner at intermission, and watch the rest after dinner.

Ugh. I wasnt gonna buy Nightfall. Still probably wont, but damn...they just HAD to throw in more Dune references, didnt they? For anyone who hasnt noticed, the Paragon's eyes are blue-on-blue (Fremen) as well.
My mesmer has the name "Ghanima Atreides" if that tells you anything about my little dilemma here.
Wurm riding...at least you dont have to use Maker hooks. If they did, that'd be 50 dollars less in my wallet.
