I've been playing PvP ritualist for a long time, but no one can confirm my question. I've seen people use Union before Shelter, and I tell them that I think they're wrong, and about half the time I get called a noob and half the time I get thanked. I use Shelter before Union, because that's the order I want the spirits to be in effect. But what should you use first?

shelter before union b/c the effects stack u want the effect out shelter to trigger first so that the damage the gets through is futhermore decreased by union, Shelter is like a global prot spirit and needs a certain amount of damage to trigger union can reduce the damage too much it won activate shelter so a starburst spike wont ruin ur day.

You're right, the way I read it. I'm not an expert in Ritualists, but it's the same basic principle for bonding.
You should always cast Life Barrier before Life Bond, so you don't get damage.
Casting Union before Shelter almost negates Union's effects.
100 damage - 15 = 85 damage (10% of 500 hp is 50) = 50 damage total
So Union before Shelter still means 50 damage, but Shelter before Union means 35 damage.
500 health / 10 = 50 damage - 15 = 35 damage total
