| Top 10 most annoying things in Online Gaming |

I came across an interesting article this morning, and it caused me to wonder, how many of these do we experience as we play CoX? (Lag is a Given! But what about the others?)

I'd say:
10- the typing. granted, it can be annoying, but if i was forced to get a headset and join a vent just so i could play CoH, i'd probably be gone in a heartbeat.
6- noobs. yea, we just deal with it. some are good, some are bad.
3- lag. deal with it, or leave. unfortunately, dealing with it usually ends up being you die, become frustrated, and leave :D it's going to be there forever.
1- i'll call these griefers. If you ever do a Hami Raid on Victory with Hank as the leader, you'll see what i mean. people stealing hami aggro from the taunter, not to mention certain people typing songs into the request chat. (Victory uses request to broadcast the instructions for the raid).

It sounds to me more a list for xbox live players. But still a lot of the issues are somewhat valid. Except number 10. I am with DC on that one. If I am forced on to use a microphone and forced to listen to people I am done playing.

Yeah that would really suck.
I'd agree with that, getting rid of the typing would cause a whole lot more issues.
Namely:
1. The foul-mouthed 15 yr olds. Now they don't type it, they scream it in your ear.
Ya, that would be fun!!
At least with chatting, you can disable Profanity. Try that using your spiffy USB headset.
2. If the internet connection is already laggy, the VoIP data transfers makes it lag even more.
More Lag, ya that would be fun too!!
3. Strange sounds, I wonder what those strange sounds are, those ohhs and ahhs and ...

No typing, but headsets would mean that everyone could hear my 5 months old crying and screaming when she's hungry, or sleepy. Yeah, that's no fun.

Yeah, have played with Others that love ventrillo or other Live audio chat sources. Found it both distracting and that it ruined the CoX I was used to after a couple years. if there was a way to have a "microphone translate to text" option THAT would be cool, maybe....as to the other points, some apply but it depends how much it gets to you.

Ok I read that lovely Piece and it leaves out more then a few pet peeves.
Whats there...
Firstly... #10 and #9 I immediately disagree with anyone who uses the term "For the love of God" in any sentence complaining about anything... not to mention I disagree with both #9 and #10 for the simple reason they are dumb, I don't want to police the web nor do I want to lose my right to type, I agree with headsets but just because you have no typing skill (as the person making that rant plainly shows) does not mean everyone is fumble fingered.
Use voice if you want, or keyboard but do not tell me I have to lower myself to your level and force me to use voice, some of us can do more then one thing at once...
#8 Weapon @#$%s so what? learn to use a different weapon, at least you know where the enemy is going to head first, and so can lay in wait... leading to #7
#7. Spawn Campers or campers in general, annoying but then also predictable, for example "Counter-Strike" for Half-Life, camping is a given and that makes my life easier, I don't have to wonder if the enemy is sneaking around to shank me from behind, hes in his favorite spot, leaving me free to do what I want at my own pace or even stop and wait for them to move, this usually gets an angry remark from the campers about how I have to do something even if it involves running into the bullet of a camper... go figure...

#4 so what? I mean really SO WHAT?? so someone wants to use profanity or verbally degrade another, you have just as much right to tell them to stop as they have to use their profanity, just like you have as much right to smoke as I have to say don't smoke, if you don't like something then make a report to the proper authorities, don't set there and argue or say their wrong (even though that's your right to do as well) for it often makes things worse, who put you in charge of "Morality" anyway??? are you so Morally Superior that you have the right to dictate Morality to others??? or use the "ignore person" option in almost every game, <--simplest is usually best...
#3 Expected, the world isn't perfect, accept it and go on with your life, letting it go will lower your blood pressure and prevent the experience from ruining the whole gaming experience, consider it a throw of the dice, sort of like real life, an unexpected event can happen at any moment... unexpectly lol adds a bit of chance to any internet experience.
#2 Can't live with em, and will never be able to get rid of them all, as long as their are ways to cheat there will be cheaters, again get over it, switch servers, make a complaint to the proper people, send letters to the company if your not satisfied, stop playing if it rankles you that much.
#1 Well shoot, I don't even need to comment on this one...
Ok now some of mine...
1. Badly made maps and map exploiters, this is not cheating but exploiting map defects... solution: close all mapleaks/defects before releasing a map, not impossible as I used to make maps for (DM Quake2-rail arena; Rocket Arena, CTF etc.) Half-Life and UT2003, just spend some extra time debugging maps is all.
2. Political speeches or un-game related material, I am playing this game (any game) and I don't need my chatboxes filled with "my puppies name" or "Todays Sports Scores" or play by play of some one entering the house, or even relationships etc. etc.... that's what private chat is for, it's most annoying to have to read between the lines to find the text that applies to the game between the weather and flavour of Doughnut someone likes or just plain dim witted flooding...
3. Hearing the word n00b used so often and for the wrong reason, n00b this n00b that blah blah blah... who cares??? get over it...
And these are 2 of the most annoying things I can think of...
1. People who are continually correcting your spelling or telling you you spelled something wrong, this is usually followed by a negative remark, then the lemmings interject their 1.5 cents worth of brilliant comments that show their combined IQs of about 11 by agreeing/disagreeing and may even strike up a new chat about bad spelling and rights and such... oh brother... it seem's I just can't hit "ignore" fast enough...
2. The gaming "Know-It-All" who is often wrong yet continues to profess they know what they are talking about (or know it all) and will go out of their way to correct you or just call you names because your not doing it the way they think your supposed to... pfft... please... even when the truth is staring them in the face they make an excuse that somehow continues to support their incorrect knowledge and from there it goes down hill...

Okay I don't PVP so I can't really commnet on 7 with any authority but I do know it happens with regularity in the PVP zones.. Think i've probably read a thousand posts about Stalkers (COV) and Blasters (COH) camping in select spots and picking off people at will.
Kids and Noobs ... Okay not EVERY kid is terrible and I guarentee there are plenty of them out there. But I just ran into this last night. Stopped what I was doing to join a member of one of my SG(s) coalition on the Cave of Transcendance trial because I'd missed that one earlier. Leveled DOWN to go with the team because I wanted the badge! We got to the stones with no problem ... then the 4-5 pre teens (or absolute Jack A... insert your own insult here) started playing games as the leader tried to ensure everyone hit their stone at the same time. One member had already said he had to leave for work very soon and these jerks refused to stop being annoying and listen. The player who needed to go earn money to support himself got angry and quit. Now we've got 7 people on an 8 man MANDATORY TF and no way to finish. Most jumped into the lava and committed suicide to get out .. i tried logging off and back on hoping to avoid that ... Died in the Troll caves anyway. Thanks to those few jerks it took several extra missions for me to reach my next level while i worked off the debt and i still don't have the badge for the trial. Not all kids are bad Not all noobs are bad but when they are THEY ARE INFURIATING!
LAG .. LAG should be #1 Since I7 the lag on COV has gotten so bad as you progess upward (not bad in Mercy, worse in Sharkshead, and terrible in Grandville) That I have pratcically stopped playing altogether and only play COH.

Well I have to say my pet peeve with CoH are the frequent AFK Team Members.
Now I know that RL comes before everything, sadly, even COH. But it really bugs me when team mates frequently go AFK, sometimes right in the middle of a battle. There are obviously times when an unexpected AFK occurs (like Pizza's at the door), but my guess is that it's not very often.
I know many parents play CoH, and there are child emergencies that also require frequent AFK. I'm not referring to these people, my best friends on CoH go AFK for their kids often, and I still love playing with them.
What I'm talking about, is the one who is excited about getting the mission started, and keeps chattering during mishes, and then says "brb", and then doesn't come back for 10 minutes.
You know I'm talking about, I hate Leechers!!
