Well yeah, it makes it recharge faster...but recharge enhancements make everything recharge faster

hmm i wonder why no one ever says anything about slotting hide or stealth for recharge.. for hit and run it would make sense wouldnt it

No, its always on, but your not hidden when you attack. its faster to just leave it on and it will automatically hide you when you dont have anymore aggro. why would you turn it off during or before a fight anyway?

Well, to clear something up...for verification purposes. There is no way to speed up when you are hidden. If the power is on, and stays on and you AS someone, there is a standard time to rehide, that can not be sped up. Hide, as we all know, is determined by the last time you were hit or attacked. It is an auto function and you need do nothing for Hide to kick in (except not attack or be hit).
The Recharge SO will only affect when the power is ready to use again, let's say if all your toggles dropped. Then the Recharge SO will bring the Hide back quicker than normal. It takes a little bit for the Hide to come back.
Just wanted to clarify this.

Are you sure about that? I was wondering the same thing the other day and asked the expert, Sigpaos. Who immediately went running to the shop to buy a recharge SO to try it out. And we had the feeling it did speed up. He was planning to add more slots and see the real effects. But then I wnet AWOL, so I don't know what came of it.

Almost certain. I tried this with my Stalker a while back, before I7 hit and it didn't seem to make any difference on when I was re-hidden. I only placed 1 recharge SO though, however, it did bring Hide back a tad faster after the toggle dropped though.
Now, I hope that no one has been playing around with my account and just making things difficult for me...However, if anyone has tried more than 1 SO with different results, please share.

I too have wondered about this and although all current information I can dig up points to it that there's no way to speed up the time you're visible before you can rehide while it's on I still have some doubts about this.
I'll do some precise testing on the subject this weekend and let you know the result.
PS: Yes, I've been away for a bit as I had some trouble to take care of lately but I'm back now. :-)

Yes, Phedre and I were discussing this. I don't recall exactly what I tried last time, but I just now went to the Test server again to compare.
Using only Focus (near instant attack) to attack with and a hand held stopwatch, I timed how long it took from when I attacked to when hide auto-refreshed. These were my results:
Hide refresh rate (single SO - 40 Defense buff):
9.39 seconds
9.55 seconds
9.56 seconds
9.64 seconds
9.42 seconds
Hide refresh rate (single SO - 40++ Recharge)
9.36 seconds
10.07 seconds
9.74 seconds
9.75 seconds
9.65 seconds
Now, there is room for error doing this by hand. It even seemed to me like it took *longer* with a ++ Recharge SO.
What these numbers do show though, is that a SO that should have reduced the time by about 1/3 did nothing for Hide's auto-refresh rate.
So unless you are interested in reducing the time between HIde's re-use time, slotting it with a recharge SO won't matter.

Well, it'll only be valid with 1-3 SOs, anything after that will so minuscule it won't make much difference.

I can't believe that out of all the forums I read nobody states the fact that hide is a defense in itself.... So THAT should be a automatic reason to leave hide active... AND if you REALLY want to know the exact times and recharged speed then i recommend downloading this awsome program it runs for COV too. It works along side COV/COH and gives you statistics about EVERYTHING.

Hi Chris Montgomery. Welcome to GameAmp! Great to have you onboard.
But you are missing the point of the discussion. Of course we will have hide active all the time. It is about the time between an attack (that unhides you) and time time you are hidden again. Recharge SO's will definately speed up the time when you switch off 'hide' and back on. But nobody cares about that. It is the unhidden time after attacks we all want to reduce. Herostats would indeed bring the answer if we would be in-game and had the SO's. But so would our eyes and stopwatch.

No, HeroStats measures the actual recharge time only, so the time from when the toggle actually deactives until it's reactivated which is not the time we're looking for here.
That doesn't mean mean it impossible to measure though... :-P

i never said anything about turning hide off.. its just when you attack you come out of hide and it takes like 10 seconds for hide to take effect again. all im askin is if you can get it down to 5 seconds to really make hit and run effective..
i have hero stats but it has to go into the actual thing.. i wish it would time my skill while its minimized so ill know how long till unstoppable wears off. also i have hero builder but it doesnt say anything about hide ability being accelerated. i keep hide on at all times

On a slight tangent, look at the Rest power. Putting a recharge SO on it will NOT make you heal faster. It WILL make it usable faster after use. If you want to heal faster, you add a Heal SO to it. Someone try to see if adding a defense SO to Hide will causes you to hide faster. I know the recharge will not do it.

My test that I conducted earlier started with Hide slotted with a single Defense buff SO. The refresh time was nearly identical to the time it took to refresh slotted with a single ++ Recharge SO.
Also, Hasten has the same effect on powers that a Recharge SO would have. Conducting the same test (using Focus, Hide slotted with a single Defense buff SO) I found the auto-hide time to be the same, whether I had Hasten activated or not (around 9.6 seconds).
As much as I would LOVE to be able to 3 slot hide with some enhancement to get the auto-hide down to around 5 seconds, I don't think that is possible.
