I have filled up all my slots since the factions preview event, so is there anything I can do to take part in the event without buying a ntoher slot or deleting somebody? I'm sure i heard something about guest players somewhere...

When we did the Factions preview we don't get a new slot. So you'll probably get a new slot only when/if you buy nightfall. I know it sucks. I deleted 3 of my characters so I'll be ready. I can't wait til Friday. XD I guess just pick one you don't play a lot or hasn't gotten very far.

Anet will be giving details on how to activate a temporary account again, last time we had keys/invites to hand out, but this time just downloading the client (along with the whole game) and waiting for ANet to provide the appropriate means is enough.
I suspect there will be a new link from the login screen that will allow you to create one when the Event starts.
My old Factions Preview Event account is still working, so I will be using that (although I have one spare slot I will also be using on my main account).
ANet will probably let us know today or tomorrow.
