If you Plan on Jewelcrafting

Ok guys this just in if you plan on taking on jewel crafting or if you just want to make some nice profit when BC releases you're going to want to stock up on all the cheap ore you can get your grubby lil paws on.

"Why?" You say? because of this:

- Prospecting (skill) : Search 5 ore of a base metal for precious gems. This will destroy the ore in the process.

I have a hunch that this is going to raise the price of ore on the AH significantly shortly after the release of The Burning Crusade. So if your looking to amass a bit of wealth come release or if your just planning on being a jewelcrafter, I'd recommend stocking up on ore while it's still at it's current low price.

yes ore not bars...I'm thinking that mining is going to be the gathering skill for jewel crafting.

But you just said that prospecting was a skill. I'm not seeing how you can get mining, prospecting, and jewelcrafting at the same time.

oops...I didn't make this clear...I'm somewhat sure that prospecting is going to work kind of like how enchanting has disenchanting. Obviously I'm pretty much just guessing at the last part and can't be sure till I learn more.

Oh, that is a good point. I wonder if maybe miners are going to have to share their mines now with prospectors?

No prospecting is part of Jewellcrafting I believe (like smelting is part of mining), so don't worry about that.

Also, this kinda blows for us Blacksmiths, now we gotta compete with farm bots and Jewellcrafters >< :P

heh yea will kinda suck for blacksmiths and engineers with the prices probably increasing due to the rise in demand for ore but for AH whores like myself it's a beautiful piece of information.

That's cool to hear about. This can make some people really rich if they play this right actually...

Buy a lot of ore from the AH which are very cheap and wait for BC and re-sell them...You could make some nice cash there.

Im probably gonna ask a friend to make me many runecloth bags, and just fill them all with ores, bank em, repeat. Garentee if u get enough, sooner or later you'll be loaded; if what your saying about the ores is true.

Readers Digest version: You make enhancement gems/crystals, and gear will be altered to accept these enhancements.

I'm sure there will be a little more to it than that, but that appears to be the primary purpose. Sort of like enchanting to improve it. I believe we will be able to have enchantments AND gem buffs as well.

What those available buffs are yet I'm not sure.

I have a Miner/Blacksmith alt, and another alt that is just a gatherer that has Skinning, and will also get mining as soon as I get to the trainer. That one feeds my other alts with mats. Both of those alts are really low, but they should get a workout after BC. I'll be one of the many FOTM Shammys out there on the Aliance side that has jewelcrafting, but I'll probably go Jewel/Enchanting (Enchanting mats are stupid expensive. I'll DE everything!)

Make you rich?....except EVERYONE is going to become a jewlcrafter that gets the expansion...ugh...and the prices will go down fast unless you get a rare pattern. This is my prediction. Like enchanting, EVERYONE will have one, they will want sockets on their weapons and cheap trinkets.

As for the ore....Ore is already expensive on my server because people use it to level up baby alts quickly, I dont know about other peoples servers.

Also....They are releasing NEW JEWELS and NEW ORE! (woot?) So you can collect all you want, may not help in the long run all that much. It may be somewhat useful, but in the end it may not.

The collection of the common ores and such right now would probably help you get up to speed when you start a jewelcrafter, so you can start making lower end stuff to wear and sell that is worth anything.
