Well on my uber home computer I have been told there are no problems, but here on my work computer I am getting this message, anyone else getting it?

I'm getting the exact same error on my computer. Game runs fine on my laptop, but on the PC, with 2GB of RAM i get that same error all the frakin time!
Have you had any luck fixing it yet? Could it be bad RAM? This is the only game that crashes all the time. I have Battlefield 2, F.E.A.R., Titan Quest, etc, all run fine, so I would assume it can't really be bad RAM since those games should be affected too. Ive updated all drivers, re-installed Guildwars and Direct X, no luck.
really sucks crashing in the middle of a mission, or right before you pick up a nice drop :(

I get the same error, and it is only on my custom built machine. Im taking a guess that it may have something to do with the level 2 cache on my AMD 64 processor. All my other games run fine cept for the online games I play, mainly Guild Wars though. If i figure something out before anyone else does ill post it to this thread. It is a major issue. Ive heard other games not being to run right with the 64 processor and it might just be a defective processor. I know a few others that run with the same hardware as i do and the only difference is the processor and they have no problems at all. Ive even swapped out the memory with thiers and still my comp is the only one that has the problem.

it usually means your whole computer crashes because your video card or sound card or something like that isnt sufficient

I have an ATI X16000, its a decent card, runs most games at Full detail, so I don't think that should be a problem.
It's just GW that crashes too. I can hit send error report to ArenaNet, then the game closes, and I can re open it again right away

Can't help you, but was just wishing I had a job where I could play GW instead of browsing the forum behind my boss's back. LOL!!!!
This is directed towards the people who ARE NOT admins. You are just a user/poster here like everyone else, including me. So before you get on your high horse and tell people how to play the game, or what they should and should not post (ie screenshots, game guides, thread topics, etc) keep this in mind...NO ONE ASKED YOU, AND YOUR PERMISSION OR APPROVAL IS NOT NEEDED!!! So if you don't lik a topic, or a picture, or whatever, then move on to the next one.
P.S. If you don't like my opinion, just remember one thing, I don't care. It is mine and I am happy with it. : )

I had a similar problem a while ago...
Update everything:
MoBo + extra Bus drivers
Gfx
Sound
Dx
Check your temps since you could be overheating.
If you still have trouble with it contact ANet support, they'll give you a heap of test to run and should help you track the problem.
Edit: Um...vid mem = 16Mb?!? Check your gfx apature size in your BiOS, might be set up wrong. With a 512mb Gfx card you can easily run an Ap size of 256Mb. Also I dont think the x1600 runs on an Intel chipset so check that your onboard Gfx is turned off.

I updated the Video card drivers, but not mother board, didn't even think of that actually. Ill give that a try and see if it works. I have emailed Anet, but heard nothing yet.

I think you're combining 2 of us with the same error. CaptainBobby has Intel® 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. Mine does show as the ATI X1600. I will check the temperature on it though, I have heard of people having overheating issues with this card, but it just seems weird that this is the only game that crashes on me. Anything else I play works fine. I can play other games for several hrs without a crash.
