I prefer Devices the best because it doesn't require to many slots plus I like to use cloaking device with superspeed and tripmine makes a great explody. With targeting drone I never miss. I like energy and electric because there just blaptastic and who doesnt love that.

Yeah I love devices (got a 50 blaster with it). Like you said, I use the cloaking device with Superspeed all the time and run in and plant trip mines. The Auto Turret is pretty nice too. Properly slotted it can take out someone your level in just 2 rounds. The only problem with it though is that there is no Build Up in that set.

Yup, this debate could rage on like the "Which Primary is better" post string. It is dissapointing that Devices does not have Build Up. As you primary job is Damage, Build Up is a Blaster's best friend. I do love all the tricks and toys from /DEV though.
Free Stealth powers without blowing a power pool selection allows you to get creative with the pool powers. Even though it's not quite as effective on a Blaster, I see a lot of /DEV Blasters get into Leadership for Assault and Maneuvers.
Definately using Super Speed and Cloaking device to make an effective "Toe Bomber" is a lot of fun. I find that if you are playing a /DEV Blaster, you play them a little different than you straight forward damage generators. I like setting up a bunch of Trip Mines and then Snipe pulling, then throw Caltrops on top of the mines as the mob comes up. You might have lost Build Up, but properly slotted mines pack a whallop!

It's not a preffered Blapper secondary, but it's not totally ineffective. It has good AoE's in the set in case you have multiple enemies near by. And it has pretty good DPS. But it's lacking in secondary effects.
The reason that Energy is so popular is the stuns. Electricity has them as well, plus improved Endurance drain effects since I7.
One nice thing about fire is that almost no one has a lot of resistance to it. Elemental shields on Tanks are usually dropped for better stuff. The short range Fire Blast(can't remember the name atm....) Is also very powerfull, unlike the short range Energy Blast. So if you are fire/fire you will have that to combo up with it in your attack chain.

Ya, I think devices is the best secondary. Energy is a close second. So, once you get a high level blaster and then you want to make a second one - do energy!
Cuz energy tend to have more damage to it, I think it is the best choice for blapping though. Fire draws WAY too much aggro for blapping!
Anyways, I've said before, I think ice/energy are the best for blapping. Freeze the guy - then punch his lights out with your energy secondary. You can't really expect ANY
defence as a blaster to help you much at all - except for stealth purposes. So, I see the best defence for a blaster to be CONROL abilities.
