I'm just curious what everyone's opinion is on two-boxing (playing separate accounts on two different computers).
I two-boxed EQ and WoW, and had a blast doing it. It took me twice as long to level my first two toons to 60 (I had five by the time I quit), but was worth it for me, since I was able to master four professions.
At this point, I don't know if I will do the same in LOTRO, but I'm seriously considering it.
Cheers,
Kelt

It takes enough concentration on my part to play one game running. I couldn't imagine running two at once!

Yeah, it's that coordination thing I'm lacking. Never had it.

My feelings about how one should approach game play are fairly simple, if your actions do not takes away from others enjoyment of the game I have no problem with them. So if a player wants to play two account at the same time and can do so in a way that does not negatively effect others all the more power to them.
I will be the first to admit that my wife and I have had an extra account when we played DaoC; we purchased it after we found that our characters were no longer competitive in rvr without a buffbot. This is something we will avoid doing with LoTRO and hope we never feel like we need to have an extra account to have viable characters in LoTRO.
I would counsel caution though because the negative effects of playing multiple account on the game may not at first be immediately obvious and is very dependent on the game. With WoW I really never saw running multiple accounts as causing major game play issues although it was abused by farmers selling gold for dollars but that is really a seperate and much larger issue. However in DaoC botting was out of control and if you were not using a buffbot you could not compete in pvp effectively because their use had become commonplace. Worse it actually caused certain classes to be shunned in both pvp and pve, why invite a cleric that heals and buffs on a raid when you can simply buff at the bot and recruit people who have better damage potential and the ability heal.
An even more extreme case was TEAM WIZZY on the Igraine DaoC server. For those who have not played DaoC the game had an extremely well done pvp system in its early years, this took the form of realm vs realm combat which took place only in the frontier zones with little effect on pve play. One of the more interesting aspects of the game for my wife and I involved besieging or defending frontier keeps in order to defend our realms relics or take the relic of another realms. Our guild would stage raids or join in realm defense more often than not just to enjoy the large scale battles. The defense of a besieged keep could be very enjoyable for both the defenders and the attackers as these battles often involving well developed tactics and intense game play.
There was however one very frustrating issue that more often than not ended an entertaining night of skirmishing. This took the form of TEAM WIZZY, take 1 player and 6 accounts: on the first account create a minstrel, a class that gives those grouped with it improved movement speed, and on the other 5 accounts create 5 mages that can cast ranged and pointblank area effect damage spells. Now slave these accounts to a single keyboard using follow and assist features built into the game to create a mini zerg that moves and fight as a synchronized unit. With the appearance of TEAM WIZZY battles were suddenly reduced to a huge lag spike generated by 5 perfectly coordinated spell casters destroying everything in their path with one series of key strokes, while their targets waited for the lag to clear. This is an extreme case but one I have personally experienced and that experience was seldom enjoyable and for me one of the worse case scenarios involving players abusing ability to play on multiple account simultaneously.
All and all I am very pleased with what I have seen of Turbine's work on this game. So I am hopeful that they will implement the game in such away that playing multiple accounts will not adversely affect the game. Anyway just something to consider.

Yep Fastred
I see what your saying m8. I to have no objections to multiple accounts, though I never could imagine myself having the ability to play two at once lol. But it's about use and abuse, and hopefully turbine have all previous experiences of abuses in games to consider.
At any rate we will have to see what the turbine fairy brings me old mukka. :-)
ps bet the Team Wizzy was Kelt - he's got 6 arms
you know lol

LOL @ Beggerman
No, bro, that wasn't me.
Fastred, very interesting. There was a guy that used to do something similar to this in EQ several years ago, too. He'd post screen shots and brag about his latest conquest (i.e., taking down bosses "solo" nobody else could). Albeit, this was PvE, not PvP -- but, if memory serves, he called himself Team Wizzy. He did use a full group of wizards though. Who needs healing with that much firepower, eh?
Anyway, welcome to you and your wife.
Cheers,
Kelt

I would not be surprised if it is the same person the behavior sounds very similar particularly the bragging and screenshots. On the bright side killing his minstrel and then picking apart his effectively paralyzed mages, with our composite bow wielding 2 foot tall lurikan rangers, provided my wife and I with more than a couple fondly remembered moments:) Heh, anyway a small bit of bragging on my part but I will be goot and not ramble on about my favorite little character teams.
