Excuse me but i have an idea and it would be GREATLY - appreciated if u guys could make it an event.
Well anyway here it is, i was thinking of an event where you could change your characters names, and apperance. or just names. Because i found out i mispelled my main chars name and h's worth over 2mil guild wars gold. full fow and 3 sets 15k and custom weps. wellany way plz reply ty.
(this was an original e-mail to gw) they told me to go to a fan-site, and i picked none other than game amp =)
Maybe changing character looks would be nice too but mostly names. Also Guild names would be nice as well, but once again mostly character names.

I do hope for you that there will be an oppurtunity at one point for you to change your name..
However I do recall Gaile saying that this will probably never be the case =(

Yup wouldn't it be lovely. I'd really like to change the hair on my female warrior, she looks stupid, don't know what I was thinking. But it's been brought up before plenty of times and we've not seen or heard of anything being done about it yet.

They should make some sort of quest, only available once per character and it gives you Legal Papers which you use to change your name.(only have 1 use) And of course these are customized to the character who you used to complete the quest. That would be pretty neat because A) It wont mess with the economy as they will be un-sellable, and B) It will allow people such as yourself to change your characters name once.

uh no the thing from morrowind i belive is spelled Vivec like viv-ek yea mine is currently V I V I C and i want it to be V I V E C.
btw i heard if guild wars finds someone with a profoun name, they can have them edit it. like a popup thing comes up on the char, saying to change it or it will be deleted.

Can't I just put my warrior on a torture rack to make him taller. I still regret making him short, but I am NOT deleting a 100% canthan cartographer with 180 elites :K

As much good may come from changing identity, much bad could too. extremely close people who may share it all (i've seen some husband/wife gaming) may mistake them for a newly named total stranger who will gladly add you to ignore list once you give them your ectos or latest gold drop. as fun as it sounds, A-net is protecting many people from "in-game identity theft" if you will. ~C L S

I dont see how that could happen with people on your friend list.......if you add someone to your friend list, even after they delete that character, they still show up on your list as the name you added and their current char name in parenthesis.

thats only if u originally added them as a different name, once u change the name it wont be on that friends list, his new name will be where his old one was. also im not saying it will happen, jus that its a possibility.

That's an awsome idea! I think they should add something like that into the game.
And about the name changing on the friends list, I don't like it will. Like, say, you meet some guy on his PvP character, you add him, and he goes and deletes that character. The name you added on your friends list will stay the same, even if the character doesn't exist anymore. So why shouldn't it work the same way?

i wish we could give our other char colourful hair like necro's, i don't have a necro, but my monk would look WKD with purple hair, imo

i really like this idea and hope they add some sort of special quest. I heard there was a special quest you can take for the minipet that was offered in pc gamer magazine. Anet can do something similar where you get a quest that will allow you to change your name one time per char.

I'd imagine changing a name to be near impossible in games like this. If anyone do a tad bit of programming you can see how changing a name of a char thats stored in the whole gw program will be a pain. petname can be changed because it doesnt store your player information.
The armor that ur wearing is customized for the player with that particular name. So if you change your name, they have to come up with an algorithm to change all your equipments as well.
One way I think is to completely copy your character and make a clone of the changed char then del original char. However this takes some system resources and I dont think anet will do it.

well changeing names would be cool but i prefer the changeing the hair or even dyeing your hair that would be awesome to do i would like to dye my rangers bandanna he has to match his armor when i dye it so it isint all tan and not red like the way i would want it to be lol but name changeing it sucks that you mispelled it but i do agree that it could cause turmoil if everyone could change their names

Name changes im not that sure about a event of changing ur name. but u should be allowed to change ur name thru Anet tho, but ya they should add a barber and ummmmm plastic surgeon lol XD

I appreciate your enthusiasm on the idea, but my guess would be that A-net has a list of these types of items that they gets requests for every day. When they are working on updates they prioritize the list based on the actual desire of the community for the change to be made and the difficulty in making the change. For example the Auction House that A LOT of people want is probably on that list. I would bet it is high on the list of desires, but ranks lower on the list of items to implement because of the dificulty of the change.
Your request to allow name changes may be high on your list but I would guess is pretty low on the request list for most others. A-net is not going to make a change to the game for one person, so I would doubt that this is an item they would spend the time to change. I don't see a request for name changing abiity popping up very much so I would guess it is very low on their list. And if what the person above said is true, it has already been said by staff that that feature will not be added to the game in the future, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
