Epic Villain Archetype?!

Go to character creation screen and hover your mouse over where the Epic Archetypes would go.

I don't have any level 50 characters so Im not 100% sure if you can select it. Worth checking out.

Also another epic archetype question...if you reach lvl 50 on one server...does that mean you can select an epic just on that server or for all servers?

I'm thinking that's just a "left over" from CoH since they use the same interface.

Also, yes, the level 50 thing will cover all servers.

and if they only made it for that server (the one that hit 50) just make it on that server

and also is it going to be in the Test server too?

I believe the Dev's have stated that the Epic AT in Villains will not be unlocked by simply getting a toon to 50. There is supposed to be some special mission or Strike Force.

Electro has a point. The Devs stated, that the Villains will have a harder time obtaining the Epic AT. Hitting level 50 is but the first accomplishment. There is a mission or SF that lies ahead after that.

More than 50? Dang...I thought I saw Posi say that a 50 villain would unlock it, and that it was part of Issue8. Oh well, more work I guess...

Yeah I remember them saying you will have to do another SF to get the epic archetype.

I also remember them saying that one of the Epic AT's will be a similar form to the Peacebringer and Warshade.

i believe i seen somewhere that they will be unlocked upon hitting level 50, but the incarnets, which will be for both heroes and villains would be unlocked by doing a mission/strikeforce

Ok, I went back and read some posts...Posi said you would have to run a ST/TF to unlock future epics like Incarnates, Corralax, etc., of which the Incarnates will be the first epic to come out after the Nictus, the level 50 villain epic AT.

This is a bit vauge, so I guess that means that either the Nictus is a 50-only, or a 50+SF type. Of course, this might mean that to unlock Incarnates, etc., you might not need to be 50 as well...interesting stuff...I guess we'll have to wait and see.

hmm this is intresting. I done some more research and apparently one of these archetypes will allow you to mix two archetypes

ex:

Stalker MasterMind

Brute Corrupter

Dominator Brute

Brute Stalker

etc.

I can only imagine the many lethal combinations that can be created if this is true.

That's be so cool...but I don't think they'll do that. Probably just a rumor or something. Besides, they had that a REALLY long time ago when CoH first came out for the hero ATs.

Actually.... one of the Epic AT's (Incarnates) is just going to be an advanced "godly" version of a certain AT. For example, Hera can be a selectable powerset and i believe will be an advanced controller version. Tataurus will be an advanced Mastermind (Lord Recluse) and Zeus will be a strong Tanker i guess (Statesman). Nictus, which is another one stated, will be a stronger pb/ws combo.

I do believe that Freekills and geeman are speaking of the same Epic - Incarnate. As Statesman is a Tanker Incarnate (as described by Posi I do believe); which appears to combine two separate AT sets with some special Statesman-only powers.

Also, Posi has been somewhat vague recently about the Villain Epics, and I think that it has changed gears for the first one to be a gimme at level 50. If you gripe loud enough, you can get a lil grease as the saying goes. Still only time and Issue 8 will tell. If they dont give me the opportunity to make my Nictus in Issue 8 I shall stamp and whine! SF or 'gimme', I want me Epic!

Nope. A level 50 Hero wont unlock a Villain Epic, and a level 50 Villain will not unlock the Hero Epics.

Likely, the Nictus will be comparable to the Warshade. I don't suspect you'll see a lot of difference aside from making it more evil.

a Nictus is the evil form of a Peacebringer, the Warshade is the good/hero form of the Nictus, and posi said there will be some power tweaks to make the Nictus different from the Warshade

I've been playing this game, CoH/CoV, for almost a year and a half now and I don't think I will ever get to lvl 50 with a hero or villian. I just don't have the time, between a full time job, raising a son, and dealing with my wife.....err I mean spending time with my wife. I think that after a certain amount of time, let's say 2 yrs, all epics should become available on both CoH/CoV. This would be like the ultimate Veteran Reward! Maybe I'll rally the troops on the main boards and try to get heard! What does everyone think?

statesman is a tanker incarnate like described above with the two power sets invul/ss. he also has special powers from drinking from the fountain of zeus, i think he has 3 of them.

recluse is a MM incarnate. i'm not sure what other powers he has, but he also drank from the fountain of zeus. i'll look it up and post the info i know i have it somewhere.

Incarnate from websters:
1. embodied in flesh; given a bodily, esp. a human form
2. personified or typified, as a quality or idea

so basically states got a little bit of zeus in him when he drank from the fountain.

So, if I have a drink this weekend can I become an Incarnate with a lil Captain in him? And if so; will I always walk with one leg up? Sorry, obscure joke.

As far as hitting 50. I swear I dont know that I will ever hit it on my Hero. I did it with my Mastermind, and it took a while, but truly I think it is easier with a Villain. I think one of the problems that holds some people back is teaming. Yeah, i had to say it. Although teams can get you more XP than soloing per mission; I think that I do more missions per hour than many teams. As Ron showed through the Newsie Experiment, it's quantity not quality that gets the XP. Also many teams are held back from doing missions or completing them in a timely manner by the chat and BIO breaks, and such. Although, I am not against them 'giving out' maybe the first Epics on each side if you have been playin/paying for 2 years per se; there has to be some limit. Just as with Veteran's Rewards; many people on the OB's want them all NOW, and that is just not right. But it is also just my opinion, and I will always bow to the superior intellect (and coding power) of the Devs.

If you take the time to think about it, the most unstoppable powersets mixed together to make an incarnate would simply be:

Any scrapper primary, with the defender secondary pschic blast. (for heroes)

For villains

A MM primary with a corrupter secondary, such as thermal (or even a stalker secondary such as regen for hide and fast healing)

Do you know what i REALLY want though for an epic? Possibly not an epci but a one day special event where people are permitted to make ONE and only one special alt. This alt allows the person to pick every power in their sets, so no two combinations be the same. Essentually you pick the primaries, you pick the secondary 9 powers then play your alt as per normal knowing you have every power that you want!
