To all you Hockey fans out there, it's back!
Season started tonight with Ottawa whooping Toronto 4-1 and Buffalo beating the 'Canes in a 3-2 shootout.
As you've probably guessed, I like hockey. haha, being a Canadian it's sort of like second nature to me. So I was wondering if anyone else out there on amp was a hockey fan like me. If so...what're your thoughts on the upcomin season? and maybe your favorite team and player or something fun like that.
My favourite team is Montreal, and my player is Koivu. I have high hopes this season..although a Cup win is a longshot. ;)

Ahh pooh. I know the Cane's are better than that. Meh I don't really like Hockey, though the Canes are my home team, so gotta root for them. xD

My dad works for the guy who owns the Ottawa Senators.
I used to work for the New York Islanders' minor league team, the Bridgeport SoundTigers.
Anyone else think the NYI signing DiPietro to a 15-year deal is ludicrous and that its gonna bite them in the @$$ sometime down the road? That guy is a jerk, btw. I've seen him deny countless little kids autographs as a SoundTiger...

I live in Denmark but are a huge NHL fan, favorite team? lETS GO DALLAS STARS :D favorite player? without a doubt Mike Modano that dude knows how to skate. Bought pay per view here in Denmark so that i could see NHL just love that game.

That would be field hockey I guess ? Not much ice around in Holland =]
Used to play myself...
I'm not much of an NHL-fan... can't seem to follow the game good enough on TV (also it's on a terrible time)

I too live in canada, and i live in a hockey town, but i don't get around to watching all that often. I'd have to say that boston bruins are my favorite team even though they aren't canadian.

With the MLB playoffs, and American Football every weekend, I just don't seem to care to much about hockey this year. I cheer for the Bruins, but they aren't looking to great this year (with the minimal knowledge of Hockey, I know who's good and who isnt basically). Maybe after my Yankees win the World Series, I'll be a little more excited. Eh, probably not, lol.

HUGE NEWS!
The new owner of the Pitsburg Penguins lives in my home town,
Kitchener Waterloo area! (Canada)
So this means he's going to try and move the team to KW or to Hamilton (an hour out of town) which will do wonders for the already booming economy down here in the K-dub.
I watched the Ottawa, Toronto game last night and was happy the Sens won. But enraged that Ray Emry got benched and is the back up goal tender again. With a stellar performance last year, it was a waste of a salary to get Gerber (who BLOWS) when they could have used that money to keep Chara who was a big player for their team.
My fav team is also the Canadian's.
My favorite players no longer play in the NHL (Andre 'red light' Rassico, Ken Drydan, Patrtick Roy, Kurk Muller.. all Montreal Canadians :D) But I enjoy a lot of players who are still inthe League. Like Hue, Mark Andre Flury, and a couple others.
I could go on for hours about what some teams need to do to improve their chances to win the cup :D. But I'll save that for the T.O. fans who think it's another cup year for the LEafs :D

The NHL would NEVER allow such a move to happen, sorry to say. That team is in such a big market already, it wouldn't sit well with the owners to move for no reason and to such a small market.

Ick, I'd normally be pulling for the Canucks, but we've reverted to how we were 8 years ago. A good goalie, no line to stand on and a few high paid, "top" players who don't perform. Given how my home team is looking like the suck, yet I've got suite tickets for all home games, I'll be watching tentatively and cheering none the less, though I won't declare "Canucks are gonna take the play offs!" until December. Plus, if we do, it'll probably be one of the bottom 2 spots.

I live roughly in the middle of the triangle formed by Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa and have been watching hockey on and off since way back (Bobby Orr was still playing). Normally I root for Montreal or Ottawa but I enjoy any good game. Since the rule changes last year there are many more of those.
