Economie is going to crash

With all the new stuff that A-net is going to put in the game, it looks like the economie is going to crash.
It looks like you can salvage mods of a weapon, so you can put the best mods on the best weapons, then you will sell them for 200k or more.

RE: Economie is going to crash

maybe, but when you gat salvage all the mods, the price will drop. Because if you get a poor weapon with a good inherent mod, salvage it off and add to a rare weapon with a poor inherent. Then the pirce will drop because its easier to get a perfect ( hope they add the effect to shields)

RE: Economie is going to crash

The economy will not crash. Think about it before you start to complain. If everyone can get perfect, rare-skinned weapons, do you really think it is going to make everyone super rich? No, the prices will drop, that simple. All the new options from Nightfall are going to do is make buying gold on ebay pointless. Why buy a perfect, gold, crystalline sword for 20 million gold when you can put perfect mods on a crappy white one for like 100k? It will only further level the playing field. Anet has always been about putting everyone on equal footing, attempting to make it so it doesn't matter how often you play, or how much you farm, it is skill and experience that matters. Soon, everyone will be able to get perfect weapons, and get the look that they want, for not so much money. I am greatly looking forward to it.

RE: Economie is going to crash

I definatly see the prices dropping for a lot of things due to the changes but really what does that effect. It makes it harder for you to get 15K and FoW armor but hey that makes it mean more. The only thing it seems that will draw a large price are the skins.

The thing I see happening is the pushing of people towards ebay gold. Those people who now have to farm for ectos and shards instead of that perfect pheonix blade or chaos axe may be pushed to say screw it I'll just buy the gold.

Personally I am looking forward to getting my FoW armor. I have 50 ectos, 20 shards and about 500K so Im really close now if i decide to by my ectos and shard, maybe another month to go.

I look forward to Nightfall, I've never been "rich" in the game, so this might help me out, wish I still had that 20% Enchant Sword lying around...

RE: Economie is going to crash

Effects we're likely to experience due to the changes from the salvaging:

Lowered prices on perfect weapons.

Lowered prices on mods.

Increased gold skin prices.

Relatively similar prices on materials. Perhaps a slight increase on Steel Ingots.

Lower green prices.

Likely an increase in dye sales and costs as people will be able to customise their weapons more.

Increase in chest runs.

Basically, anyone complaining about the economy being destroyed probably hasn't realised that A-Net intended to have Guild Wars exist for both the casual player and the dedicated ones. As prices are currently, casual players likely have a harder time getting anything they may want, especially weapons. I figure this change is for their benefit. After all I seriously doubt any game with a 100k on-hand gold limit intended for ecto's to be used as a main currency. Yes, 100k +50 ecto's means ecto's are the main thing, not the gold. As for the dedicated players, they still have numerous things left relatively unchanged (Armor, quests, elite missions, titles, etc.).

Plus, A-Net isn't looking to be a farming based game, otherwise they wouldn't have done so many farming nerfs ne? After all, farming doesn't take much skill, in fact most people can simply look up a guide and use it. Of course there are those who created those builds, people who improve upon them, but in general, the farming community is just one giant collective of the same builds. Think IWAY was bad in HoH? If farming trolls were compared to HoH, IWAY wouldn't hold a candle to the axe wars and 55's.

RE: Economie is going to crash

And remember that you do have ppl the sell items for resonable prices. I my self never sold a valuable high price item that's worth 100k for no mre than maybe 25 - 50k. I rather cater to the ppl who make enough gold. Every item i sell are usually in the 20- 50k range. To me that is resonable!

RE: Economie is going to crash

dam so they r gonna let u salvage mods off.

goddammit i feel like an idiot, i guess i shouldnt have sold tht max dmg fellblade req 7, no mods.

either way i think its a great idea, but at first it may screw w/ the economy a bit, but even if it does it will quickly stabilize and in the end be for the better.

I just wish i knew this 2 months ago...

I hardly think it was a complaint, merely speculation towards what could happen with the advent of Nightfall which is completely understandable. There is usually a thread like this every once in a while with new content on a large scale coming.

QUOTE
It will only further level the playing field.

I'm actually not quite so confident in this myself. One would think so, but because there is a 100% of getting what you want does not necessarily mean all mods will be available to everyone. I have been farming for quite a bit and playing for quite a bit and have yet to find myself a 20/20 sundering mod for swords (Just for example). Quite truthfully, even before 20/20 when they were 10/10 I was loathe to even find a mod like that.

"Lowered prices on mods.

Increased gold skin prices."

This was also thought to be true with the advent of Factions however, because the crystaline drop is so extremely rare with a good inherent mod I'm afraid this will always be an expensive item, for that singular reason. Despite there being a multitude of other attractive or more attractive skins.

I'm 100% behind you on this one though, hehe ^_^.

Im afraid this may always be true no matter what A-net introduces. That is for the mere fact that many people are lazy and greedy at the same time, lol.

QUOTE

Lower green prices.

There MAY be a lowered price on perfect weapons, however, since there is such a huge influx of new weapons coming into the game we will probably see a lower price on *SOME* of the current ones. For instance these days you won't see a clean perfect Butterfly sword with req. 8 and 15^50 for more than 30k or 40k. On the contrary the Crystaline Sword (which has existed for quite a while) will continue to dominate prices. The new ones however I fear will be just like factions' Gothic and Phoenix skins. This is despite new mod aquisition.

Haha, well said. Although despite this not being meant as a farming game we still manage to find ways around it and find things to farm.

I don't make it mean to look I'm targeting your, Brynden or Johnny or Hiro's, posts. You just merely touched down on topics I was gonna touch down on. So, I figured it'd be best if I quote and counter with my own opinion. I was in quite the typey mood, lol.

RE: Economie is going to crash

would be second time... My predictions ?

Nightfall comes out, prices of materials soar. Noone farming, everyone wants nightfall armor....

After 1 or 2 months (just like after release of Factions) prices will level up again.

Rare stuff? No matter how rare things are, if no one wants it, shake it.

Sup. runes? I remember sup. rune of reduced damage >5k....
And several others too >1K... now, all but monks <1k....

Nightfall will bring a change to economy, and those who gamble right on what will happen, will be rich, the others will be wining here 1st week on november :-)

Regards.
Michiel

(ps. or be like me, no whining but enjoying Nightfall!)
