Disapointed with the Jump Jet you just got? Read.

I must admit when i first got the new jump jet power i was somewhat disapointed... (granted im a lvl 26 and have teleport as my travel power)

In itself...this power seemed very very weak...

But i didn't give up...i logged on to an Alt low level and decided to "combined" the jump jet with other travel powers.

What i found out was actually rather pleasing

If you Combine the Jump Jet with hover, you esentially get a 30 second temp fly power. This lets you put off getting fly for atleast a couple levels and lets you concentrate on getting more "important" powers

This also allows you to perform very fast attacks and not have that slow hover delay to be bothered with which has a lot of potential in PVP.

I have yet to try out the jump jet with super jump or super speed but i can imagine the results should be pretty promising. (Super Speed gaining a temp super jump) or traveling with fly at break neck speeds.

The only travel power that really isn't really "buffed" with the jump jet is teleport (unless of course you have hover as well)

Great thing about the Jump Jet...

Badges. Any hard to get badges in CoV and CoH can be gotten via this power. Unfortuantely it can't be slotted, but it's still really cool.

It can't be slotted? Then why did i have no difficulty slotting it?

Both VIP and Jump Jet can be in fact slotted..

Both VIP and Jump Jet can be in fact slotted..

You might be a bit confused. It clearly states (and I tried it also), That the jump jet can not be slotted.

Ive discovered that if you combine the Jump Jet with a Jump power, like Super Jump (Combat Jumping works aswell) you can have a 30-sec lasting long jump.

I can reach about 1 mile with my SJ and the Jump Jet, neat stuff!

It enhances your travel powers of flight and SJ. Note sure how it affects SS and TP though. I'm sure SS gets a boost, just like the SS/SJ combo. TP, not sure if and how this would help out though.

Jump Pack can also be used by itself as a directional travel power (other then up) without combining it with any other travel power... excelent for very low level players.

When you first trigger it you of course go straight up even if you try to aim forwards, however if you shut off the upwards thrust (do not turn off jump pack just upwards thrust) AND aim forwards you will slowly fall forwards, then use thrust again to gain some height and shut off again.

By repeating this process you basically jump through the air at roughly the speed of a fast sprint or combat jumping until the jump pack power shuts down to recharge of course.

You will not gain maximum forwards movement at once though, your forwards movement will slowly increase as you enable and disable thrust, it may take a little practice, but once you get the proper rhythm going you move well.

1. Trigger jump pack and enable upwards thrust.
2. Shut off upwards thrust but keep jump pack enabled once you reach desired height.
3. Aim forwards and let yourself fall then trigger thrust as soon as forward momentum ceases and before you hit the ground (at the height you wish to stay.)

Repeat this process and you will sort of power jump through the air (like on an invisible floor) in the direction you wish (you will make the same noise you make when you use normal jump powers on the ground.)
