How much has GW cost you?

Well it's less than a month till Nightfall comes out and it almost time to spend more money on this game. Don't get me wrong, I love the game.

I decided I would total how much money this game has cost me so far. Now please realize I am including my girlfriends costs as well since we split all Guild Wars stuff down the middle.

GW Prophecies: 2 x $59.99 CND
GW Factions: 1 x $59.99 CND
GW Factions CE: 1 x $79.99 CND
GW Nightfall BP: 2 x $4.99 CND
GW Nightfall: 1 x $59.99 CND
GW Nightfall CE: 1 x $79.99 CND
New Laptop: 1 x $1500.00 CND
Bonus Slots: 3 x $9.99 USD

Total: $1939.89 CND

If you are wondering about the laptop, my gf and I bought the games but it only worked on my computer because all my other computers, the video card was too old. So we go to buy a video card and lucky us, Bestbuy had super great deals on laptops (one day only event). Thats why I included in the cost.

How much have all of you spent on GW? Also feel free to include lost girlfriends, dead plants and any other non-monetary costs you can think of.

hmm... 50 for each game, and 2,000 for my lappy (which i didn't get just for gaming, but i had gaming in mind when i was building it). So I guess you could say i spent $2,100 bucks, but to make myself feel better, i say i only spent $100 bucks >.>

If im correct his girlfriend actually plays too which is why he has 2x copies although i could be wrong.

Well ive spent about £70 on Prophecies and Factions CE.
Timewise - 1326hrs and 39 minutes over a 6 month period.

Only reason the headset is in there is because if I hadnt been playing GW, I wouldnt have broke my headset :X

$7.50 a month, and its only that high because the headset(without it, it would have been just over $6)

Even though GW is not a Pay2Play game, when the price is compared its a LOT cheaper to play than any other decent RPG game.

I was on so much my wife was complaining about missing phone calls or never being able to use the phone so I had to get DSL so it wouldn't tie up the phone plus it made the downloads a bit faster, although you really can't tell a difference in game from my dialup to the DSL.

Mine is in 2 different currencys, £ (GBP) and $ (CDN DOLLAR).

Proph SE= £40
Proph Guide= £20
Factions= £30
Factions Guide= £20
Nightfall CE= $100
Nightfall Guide= $20
Nightfall PBP= $5

Overall £110 + $125 (anybody who is good at currency can work it out for me for +cred :P (if you didnt see $ is in canadian, not US).
I know that it roughly works out as $345 or £ 172.50

The main difference you would notice ingame would be the load times between zones. I use the -perf command with the shortcut, which shows FPS and other helpful data(such as bytes per second traveling between me and anet), anyway, the bytes per second usually hangs around 500-1000 when i'm in a town, or outside a town. Which is no more than 1 KB/s, therefore there wont be much of a difference, gameplay-wise with 56K(dialup) and dsl/cable. Though as I said, the main advantage is load times, and as you said, downloads.

And so this post isnt 100% off topic, I guess you could add $10 to my total for the extra char slot I have, though I didnt really pay for it Harrow did. <3

yeah not much in fact even the load times only differed when I hadn't been to that area otherwise if I had been there before it was pretty much just as fast loading it.

I wonder how much sleep is worth cause I know I lost a lot of that playing.

hehe, true, didnt even think of that, the reason it only changed for area's you havnt been to is because it had to download the data. Area's you have already been it just loaded the data from the gw.dat file, so it prettymuch loaded them at the speed of your computer.

Before I posted the other I thought about putting up that Its costed me a whole lot cause I was playing and in the middle of a mission and the power went off and I was so hot and frustrated that I went to work off some steam and nine months later ended up with twins and now cause of GW I'll be paying money out for the next 17 years till their 18. Hehe
