simple, dont bother with them.
i go and view some ones screen shot that they're rightfully proud of and wanted to share with our HELPFUL and FRIENDLY community, and 9 time out of 10 someone's posted "seen this before" or "why has this been submitted?".
if its on the site, then an ADMIN has approved it, therefore there must be a valid reason for it being allowed.
so what if some people have seen that situation. people who havent been with the amp site from day one may not have, and the poor person who posted the shot doesnt need the cynicism.
i'm not saying its flaming at all, just that its not needed.
if you dont like it or are bored of it, then dont even look at it, let alone even POST a comment!

some screens that are over done eventually become tiring and will not be approved (ie: a few months ago when there were dozens of screens of the 55's in elona). but as long as it's unique to the user, they haven't submitted it before, and it has the proper criteria then it's hard to cheat people out of the screens that they take and say they're not worthy of being posted on this site.
in regards to screenshot comments, they're much like any other submission, so they must remain flame-free. if you're going to write something like: 'yawn, seen it before' 'this is old', to you it might be, but to someone else it might be their first experiance (ie: Glint Screens)

I've seen some pretty ropy pics in there along the lines of: My new armor *4, I took this by accident when I loged out so I thought I'd post, The Amp guild doing something else ;)
I can't remember the last time I saw a screenie of a Warrior groin thrusting someone in the face or a Monk doing a handstand so the admins must be filtering most of it.
But anyway if people feel that a screenie is worthless, faked or just dumb they should be allowed to say...this is an open forum afterall and people are critical by nature. The galleries I'm sure are covered by the zero flaming policy so people shouldn't be getting nasty, at least you'll only see them do it once!

all im going to say is that there are nice ways of saying "I have seen this way to many times before," and the only times such a comment is appropriate is when someone is posting a seriously "I dont know why I posted this, but I did it anyways" type screen shots. If someone posts a screenie of beating glint, or finally beating Hells P, then that screenshot is one about Accomplishment NOT aboot "I have seen this before." In those cases, any comments of that nature is honestly uncalled for.
long story short, use your brain when posting comments :D lol ... and there is ALWAYS a nice way to say somthing!

Using that logic we need to also enforce this rule.
No posting a thread that has already been posted.
I have not been a mamber for a long time, but I would guess there are thousands of pics posted over the life of this forum. A lot of people are proud of their accomplishements when getting 15k armor so they post a pic. It has been done many many times, but I have no problem with someone senting in screenies of that. Some people get a kick out of a glitch that they see in the game and post those pics even though someone else has already posted it. I don't think there is any reason for someone to look through all the screenies in the past to see if theirs is a repeat.
In a public forum that has new people joining every day and a game that has new players starting every day you will see repeated information on this forum and it is new to them, so let them post without critisism. It's just common courtesy (which is all to UNCOMMON for some people)
For those credit whores out there posting worthless stuff just to get cred. Boy how fun it must be getting all that credit!!!!!!!

not that I have any experience with children, but if I am not mistaken, you dont have to answer them every time they cry. If you do that, the only thing you achieve is raising a whiner of a kid that thinks he/she can cry and get anything. (according to what my parents said) ... They said both my sister and I were great kids, so I dont know what that was. But I do think that "babying" the child, for lack of a better term, will actually be detrimental to it. There is a difference in giving it what it needs, (love, affection, food, knowledge) etc, and giving it what it wants. :)
that was completely off topic, but I think that might be a partial answer to your question :P if I were you, I'd check into it more before implementing it, as I said, I am no parent, just a college student :P

What you have are what I like to call "Self Appointed Forum Police" These are people who fit into any combination of the following qualifications.
1.) They have been a member for a long time
2.) They have made a certain amount of posts
3.) They are naturally a jerk
4.) They feel they owe the world their opinion and that it is what matters most
5.) They feel they have earned the right, through no appointment by the forum admins, to dictate and control what people post
6.) Egotistical
7. ) Wannabe Admins
These people feel they have the right to insult, put down, comment, attempt to control those around them.
But you can't control them. It is up to the forum admins to take control, which on the majority of forums they don't. Instead they worry about any criticism that people direct towards them, and allow people and their mouths to run rampant.

This is directed towards the people who ARE NOT admins. You are just a user/poster here like everyone else, including me. So before you get on your high horse and tell people how to play the game, or what they should and should not post (ie screenshots, game guides, thread topics, etc) keep this in mind...NO ONE ASKED YOU, AND YOUR PERMISSION OR APPROVAL IS NOT NEEDED!!! So if you don't lik a topic, or a picture, or whatever, then move on to the next one.

LOL don't worry, I'm not going to go postal. Having a new baby girl in my life (and this is my first) has put me on an emotional rollercoaster like one I have never seen before in my life. It is the best thing in the world with snippets of the most frustrating times you will ever see. But the good outweights the bad 100x so I wouldn't give it up for the world. Although I could do without the crying (especially the crying that continues after you have tried anything and everything.) Just like women, I guess some times they just need to cry. LOL

i posted this before i went to work today, get home and find a pretty good debate going on about it.
to the guy who thought he triggered me posting it, it wasnt just you, there's a few people on the site that i regulary not flaming as such, but being overly negative, and its the same people everytime. i'm sure i'm not the only person who has noticed them.
i obviously dont want to censor peoples opinions and stop people posting their views, but is it right just to come right out and say "why was this submitted/allowed", why dont you give some constructive critizism (spelling?)
if i was a young kid who just joined the site, and posted a pic of myself beating glint, and some guy just rants at me for posting my acheivement, i doubt i'd hang round long. if the same guy had said something like well done, but try it with henchies/less henchies/real people, then i might get involved more.
just engage you brain before posting please.

haha, i never thought you'd go postal, im just saying that if you dont give it attention every single time it cry's, it will stop crying for no reason :P Babies cry to get attention, and to get what they want. When they dont get it, they learn pretty fast that it is taking way too much energy to lie there and whine when they could lie there and be quiet and make fun for them selves and still get the same amount of attention. :)
yes, if the baby is hungry and is crying caus of that, feed it. If it needs a change in clothes, change it. But if it just wants to have your attention 100% of the time, dont give it that :P just let it cry then, you'll see it change after a while.
but yea, this is completely off topic. LOL, and even more this is about guildwars, not me giving anybody tips on babies which I have never had :P hahahaha
im truly happy you love having your lil girl. One day, I will be happy also when holding my kid, but that day is not ready to happen for me yet :P too many factors that have to fall in place first :P lol

I just wanna disagree with you on that point. There have been many changes recently to this forum that have divided some people.
The most obvious one is the change to a Zero-Tolerence Flaming policy. Now you might disagree about how the admins are enforcing this, but you have to realize how thin the line is. What counts as a direct flame for one person might be advice to another. So at times it's difficult to determine the facts without banning innocent people.
Second, I have NEVER seen an admin back down due to fear of criticism. Daily, the staff here get tons of PMs while in game. Evil Geek has to spend much of his time in "Do Not Disturb" mode. Mostly they're about joining AMP, but he does get the occasional jerks.
What to you seems like fear of criticism, is actually democracy in progress. The staffers here don't want to appear over-bearing and power-hungry, but they also don't want to appear weak and let flamers run amok. If Gameamp is to be successful as a fansite, it has to have a give-and-take relationship with the community.

Just wanted to agree there with cswella. I think the staff here have a difficult job of deciding how far they can intervene with the comings and goings of the forum without disrupting the overall flow. A forum has to be self-sustainable, with the admins just brushing it along and clearing up the mess from time to time. In theory. Anyways, you guys DO do a really good job behind the scenes, which most people don't know about or just take for granted. Ty all staffers, and sorry you had to resign cswella, hope you're going to stay on the forums :)

I do agree with CSW there completely. Admin and Staff are people too, they make mistakes, but the forum hasn't shut down, which means they're doing something right.
And on the subject of "negative comments" anytime I see someone post: "I've seen this before." A series of thoughts run through my head:
1) I think I've seen this before too...
2) I have seen this comment before!
3) %^$&ing hypocrites.
4) Stop posting the same message, I've seen it before too.
5) Baaaaaaa. Grass. Munch. Munch.
