Dungeon Runners DOA?

The official site hasn't been updated since May. The game only has two fansites, neither of which have any community following to speak of. I only know of one person who made it into the beta test and he says he's never seen a slower moving testing phase.

Anyone have any reason to believe that this game isn't going to be announced as cancelled in the near future?

RE: Dungeon Runners DOA?

That would be a mighty sad say so, if it does get cancelled... The info that we have so far is very lacking and hardly any prove that it IS a producible game. If not, sadly I do kinda think it needs to die.

Because look. We have a dungeon runner that's plays like diablo...except MMO. It's kind of a "whatever" compare to what we do have out. A mmo element doesn't do much when you're exploring the dungeons then what regular crawler offers, with or without multiplayer. What do you do with over 8 or 16 players? A raid, is probly the only benefit that you'll get from it, or some PvP games that you would find in GuildWars. And a trade auction can be used without being mmo if you using a different interface that creates a place that could hold multiple players. Same thing with recruiting friends.

I'm not against dungeon runner, but all for it. It's just they have to come out with some very heavy s#!+ for it to be an attractive game. But fat chance if it's gonna be an arousing sensual experience on the first show.

Ok, the game is in CLOSED Beta currently. So squash the "slow testing phase". It's going slow, because it's still in a very tedious stage of testing.

Second, the game is slated, SLATED for a late 2006 release. Usually that means early 2007 if you've ever seen how release dates go.

I know of quite a few people that have made it into beta, and it's going better than you think. The site hasn't been updated because there's nothing to update, and the fansites generally won't get much of a following until players can actually start talking about being in the game.

That being said, no, Dungeon Runners is not "DOA"...it's still an infant.

RE: Dungeon Runners DOA?

Hey, while we're here anyway, what do you think that'll make mmo useful in dungeon runner? Heck, as I stated most of what could be done doesn't really have to go to the mmo level. Maybe faking it like GuildWars (which I also don't have anything against). So like the adverage number of players that could be in a single dungeon level is 3 up to 6. Do you really need more? Only in towns you can have massive amount of players lagging your connection to benefit.

Now I know that I'll be playing an Assassin-Like Archer when I'm there. So, yea, again, what usefulness will mmo be other then bragging rights when you're on the top-most latter?

RE: Dungeon Runners DOA?

Honestly, that's an awesome question you bring up. Here's what I think about it all.

The MMO portion of Dungeon Runners is important as it is in ANY other mmo really - Teaming up with players to take on higher level content that you can't normally do alone, to get "uber" gear.

Dungeon Runners will use Instanced dungeons, which means that only the players in your current group can access your dungeon. As you said, towns will be the "gathering point", and more than likely will lag out because of the people dancing, chatting, etc. However, I don't believe it would be fun to limit the Dungeons to 3 to 6 person groups.

I would LOVE to see large raid size groups, similar to World of Warcraft. This would be fun just because you would be able to get with your friends and take on hardcore difficult enemies.

The best part of all of this? It's casual and cost free! The MMO aspect is the interaction with Massive amounts of people(in town that is). The MMO aspect is HIGHLY important for this reason, wouldn't you say? How boring would it be to have to FIND a friend to play with, or to request a team in some central hub?
