well with all of the new horror movies being so bad (I.e. Saw, The Grudge, the new Amytiville horror) i had thought that all horror movies were lame. That was until last halloween i saw "Halloween" for the first time. It was great but i thought it was one of a kind. Then i saw the original poltergeist. That was great too. Well yesterday i saw the original "The Evil Dead" and its now my favorite movie. After that i watched the 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That was awesome too. What other good horror movies are out there? i really wanna see some good ones

The only "Horror" I like is Saw. I have seen the first two and they are AWESOME!!! I can't wait for Saw III. Just seeing all the traps and stuff is really cool, and the acting is really, really good.

"IT" is a great movie. Some other great ones are Nightmare on Elm Street (crazy scary), Wait Until Dark, and The Birds (well, it was scary for me because I watched it in the town it was filmed in (Bodega Day, OR)).
Clicky.

yup "IT" is scary as hell it is the one movie that freaked me out and I dont spook easily. I also scared myself even more by buying the book and reading it. The book has lots of even scarier stuff in it and after watching the movie it was like watching a movie in my head while I was reading it I had faces for all the charactors made it more personal it way freaked me out.

A newer film that kinda came and went under the radar is "Dead Birds".
I saw it at a horror festival a few weeks ago, and it was pretty good.
Not really a splatter flick, but more of a psychological thriller-type horror film, but I think it's worth checking out.

Personally I haven't seen it, but I've heard of an old movie called "Cannibal Holocaust".
Cannibal Holocaust
| QUOTE | | The biggest controversy upon the film's release was the belief that this was an actual snuff film, which is a testament to the realism and brutality of the film. Director Ruggero Deodato and one of the film's producers were arrested and the film seized a week after the premiere. The courts in Milan believed Deodato actually had the actors in the film murdered for the camera, and they also believed that the gruesome "impalement scene" was indeed genuine. To make matters worse for Deodato, it was in the stars' contracts that they must not be in any film or media for a year after the release. Eventually, Deodato proved that the violence was staged (the realism of the gore can be attributed to the fact that all organs in the film were real pig organs [1]). |
I've searched for it but haven't found it. :(

I really enjoyed Texas Chain Saw Mas. I also liked a few others that where listed, but was Kinda supprised that Alien did nto make the list so far. It was scary as hell, i know it is more Sci Fi listed than horror, but still a great and very scarry movie. (nothing like having your girlfriend jump in your lap as the alien comes from nowhere.)
I also really liked the Omen films.. but think most people would have guessed that.
Howling was fun to watch, and wish i could remember the name, but there was a Mummy movie that was really scary. they really used the mummy rot more than other movies I have seen.

I like those Jeepers Creepers movies, those are fun to watch. And any Stephen King movies are cool too, Stephen does a little cameo apperance in everyone of his movies. Like in "Rose Red", he was a pizza man i think that delivered pizza to the weird guy. His movies are awesome because not everything is explainitory, just watch and dont question.

"It" is a waste of time, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not a big fan of horror movies, but I love the Saw movies and classics like Friday and Halloween. "It" just doesn't compare. It convey's the story of the book, but the various monsters are so unrealistic and the plot isn't emersive enough to give you the feeling that it is really happening. Instead, you get to sit back and laugh at the campy costumes and the actors they casted. Watch it, but don't plan on being scared. Gotta love Tim Curry as Pennywise the Dancing Clown!

Look at Freddy vs. Jason. ya u have 2 of the greatest horror monster in movie history but it wasn't that scary like they was when they first came out. I'm not a big horror movie freak, but since scream came out horror movies have been the same most of the time.

I don't care for the horror flicks with a lot of blood and gore. I prefer the ones that play with your mind. The Shining is definitely one of my favorites. Jack is the best! And what is scarier than twin little girls? Come and play with us, Danny. Forever...and ever...and ever...
