Tradeskills for Shaman?

Thinking about messing around with a shammy. Any suggestions for tradeskills?

Re: Tradeskills for Shaman?

i did very well with my shaman as using him as a skinner and miner until i made 1g. once you get 1 gold you should dump mining or skinning which ever you prefer and take up tailoring. Once you are able to make heavy woolen glooves dump your gathering skill (mining/skinning) and take up enchanting. Make heavy woolen glooves then disenchant them and sell them. I made 10g in 1 day using this strat with my shamy. It didnt work as well with my other classes.

Re: Tradeskills for Shaman?

I've been doing skinning/leatherworking with my shaman, mainly because I thought it would be nice to make armor for myself. However, at the moment the armor I can make isn't nearly as good as the drops I've gotten. Given the opportunity to start over, I would probably go with some money making skills instead and then decide on something else once I had enough to buy some decent equipment.

I also chose skinning/ leatherworking mainly because I never tried it before. I have not had too much luck making money from crafted items. I am waiting to acquire some of the more rare recipes to craft items such as Hide of the Wild which seems to fetch a good price.

The Dragonscale leatherworking specialty allows you to craft some pretty decent mail items later in the game.

Re: Tradeskills for Shaman?

Shamans should take Skinning / Leatherworking IMO.

Reason:
At level 40 Shaman get to wear 'mail' armor. At higher level Leatherworking (around 205) you can start making decent 'mail' armor:

Turtle Scale Gloves (205)
Binds when equipped
Hands Mail
146 Armor
+7 Stamina
+6 Intellect
+6 Spirit
Durability 35 / 35
Requires Level 36
Sells for 34 Silver 77 Copper to vendors
Item Level 41
Source: Recipe
Use: Quest

Turtle Scale Bracers (210)
Binds when equipped
Wrist Mail
204 Armor
Durability 35 / 35
Requires Level 37
Sells for 40 Silver 13 Copper to vendors
Item Level 42
Use: Quest

Turtle Scale Breastplate (210)
Binds when equipped
Chest Mail
238 Armor
+9 Stamina
+9 Intellect
+9 Spirit
Durability 100 / 100
Requires Level 37
Sells for 75 Silver 67 Copper to vendors
Item Level 42
Source: Recipe
Use: Quest

Tough Scorpid Bracers (220)
Binds when equipped
Wrist Mail
107 Armor
+7 Agility
+6 Spirit
Durability 35 / 35
Requires Level 39
Sells for 43 Silver 46 Copper to vendors
Item Level 44
Source: Recipe

And at higher level leatherworking:

Red Dragonscale Breastplate (300)
Binds when equipped
Chest Mail
360 Armor
+12 Fire Resistance
Durability 120 / 120
Requires Level 56
Equip: Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to 66.
Sells for 2 Gold 98 Silver 36 Copper to vendors
Item Level 61
Source: Recipe

And someone already said 'Hide of the Wild' because Stamina and Intellect are Shaman's main stats.

Hide of the Wild (300)
Binds when equipped
Back
48 Armor
+8 Stamina
+10 Intellect
Requires Level 57
Equip: Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to 42.
Sells for 2 Gold 8 Silver 89 Copper to vendors
Item Level 62
Source: Recipe

And everyone likes resists:

Chromatic Gauntlets (300)
Binds when equipped
Hands Mail
279 Armor
+5 Holy Resistance
+5 Fire Resistance
+5 Nature Resistance
+5 Frost Resistance
+5 Shadow Resistance
Durability 50 / 50
Requires Level 60
Equip: +44 Attack Power.
Equip: Improves your chance to get a critical strike by 1%.
Equip: Improves your chance to get a critical strike with spells by 1%.
Sells for 3 Gold 19 Silver 43 Copper to vendors
Item Level 70
Source: Recipe

Chromatic Cloak (300)
Binds when equipped
Back
48 Armor
+10 Stamina
+9 Fire Resistance
+9 Shadow Resistance
Requires Level 57
Equip: Improves your chance to get a critical strike with spells by 1%.
Sells for 2 Gold 30 Silver 6 Copper to vendors
Item Level 62
Source: Recipe

Granted these are only a few of the reasons that I would personally choose to do Skinning /Leatherworking.

RE: Tradeskills for Shaman?

skinning is by far the easiest one to lvl. you can almost skin anything in the beging for any shaman class. though leatherworking makes mail sad thing to say for shamans it seems like do i really want that. yes dragonscale is really nice but really hard to get recipes and materials to make something. leatherworkers do make the best early lvl belt and if you can sell it deviate scale belt sells for a crap load of money and profit. ironicly herblism is very anoying and doesnt seem that good for a shaman. but you guys can choose your posin just remeber to take the antidot soon. lol.

RE: Tradeskills for Shaman?

as far as skinning goes if you decide to switch to another money making tradeskill skinning can be leveled almost to 300 in a couple of hours depending upon your lvl at the time. I went from 0-200+ in just 3 hours at lvl 28 or so.
