Doesn't make it gay, but...
I see why you could be upset. Why wouldn't they make an event in Cantha? Doesn't make sence to me.

I'm sorry to hear that, and am quit surprised it isn't happening in Shing Jea Monastery. The only other option you have is to buy Either Prophecies or Nightfall. Sorry, but that is the only option. Unless ANet surprises us. ^^

I really don't see that the sexual orientation of the Halloween event is determined by the fact that Cantha (which has now had several factions-only weekends) will not be celebrating it.

I only have Prohecies. I didn't get the boardwalk weekend. There are events in all the games, just not the same ones. It's just one of the many little things that make us want to buy all of 'em. That's what game makers want. It's no big deal.

Well, I still only have prophecies, therefore I was left-out of nearly every weekend event. So now I think its about time they left those with factions without an event. I do plan to get NF on friday though, but I dont know how much of the event I will be at as I plan to play the game rather than visit an event(unless I can get a pumpkin helmet I missed out on last year).

Well factions has had alot of events prophencies didn't have.Don't let one event ruin everything. More things will come to factions. Just be patient.

Well assuming Tyria only gets halloween I would be happy, as I like the idea of chapter specific holidays. eg. Tyria has halloween where as Cantha has a dragon festival...
Missing out is unfortunate, but its not really missing out if you dont own the chapter is it?. Isnt it something that comes along with having access to those lands?
Anyway I dont think a Halloween is suited to the atmosphere of Cantha myself, just as I dont think the Tyrian cultures suit the Dragon Festival.
Just my opinions of course :).

I think partially its in prophecies because it would make many people much happier and it's not that hard to reuse the old skins. Its in Nightfall because Anet wants people to buy the game early to attend the event.

Bah humbug.....
I don't like halloween in real life... let alone in Guild Wars.....

To be honest all you're missing out on is Candy henchmen silly hats and new skins for towns. You'll be able to see the screenshots right here on gameamp plus people will be selling halloween items everywhere just like last year so you wont really miss out on the "fun".
Actually you can probably go into the archives of screenshots and get a look now and see what you'll be missing out on.... it's not too much.
The novelty wears off in 10 minutes and people seling halloween items get annoying. Ten you have everyone and their brother (or sister) opening those crazy boxes and all you hear is screeching and
"WTS HALLOWEEN ITEMS PUMPKIN HATS AND OTHERS 2K EACH"
"WHAT'S HIS FACE IS A SCAMMER PUMKIN HATS ARE CUSTOMISED"
"STFU n00B"
etc.
I might hide in factions until it's done.... yes that's why they didn't put any halloween in factions... to give me a place to hide.... I'm sure I can find a nice spot in the forest (since I'm Kurzick) to be away from halloween junk.
